I have been curating my Plex server for years. My collection even further back(XBMC). I painstakingly go through the posters and cover art to make sure they are nice. I update files to better quality ones to keep up with better displays. Add interesting content as I find it. Content from multiple decades(1970s-current). You all know the drill.
So with upgraded internet connection, I can finally start to watch Plex outside of my home. It is a burden of living well into the country side(services lag behind). So my wife offers one of her friends access to Plex. I don’t take issue with it. In all honesty, I didn’t mind load testing it. I wanted to experiment.
This woman has watched Jaws 21 times in 30 days. I can’t wrap my head around that. I like certain movies as well but damn not that much.
Love that they listened also to my directions for direct play
Okay so we all know the struggle that is up in conversations a lot here, whether original should be the default, the new changes that are coming are nice, but honestly I have far since accepted transcoding is just a part of life.
What annoys me more is when I ask users if they are able to see the difference between 2 qualities and they answer with “It looks the same” or “it was fine before”. That is what really kills me.
It is painfully slow to find stuff, then you have to copy the filename and the password manually, go search for it, then download it. It seems like everything there is easily found by other “more modern” indexers which also btw use larger thumbnails, so I can see a better representation of what I am looking at.
Is there something I am missing?

Fast forward to this week I get a payment failure notification out of the blue. They never cancelled and continued to charge my card on an annual basis. Asking for a refund when I noticed this I got the following.

I recently got into using usenet and i am loving it so far but im still kinda new and was wondering, i have downloaded movies using a paid indexer but i have noticed that some bigger move franchises are failing and as i read it it’s probably been taken down by dmca. So my question is, will getting another indexer give me a bigger chance of aquiring that specific file or will getting another newshost and using it along with the one i am currently using do that, i am using Frugal at the moment. Hello, I like Sonarr. I’m certainly not a power user as its been little over six months installation but on the whole it’s really good and generally makes my life easier.
I’ve noticed that on occasion however, it will start downloading new versions of shoes which are much lower res/file size than what I already have. I’m not just talking slightly lower either. At the moment it’s triggered a download of Obi-Wan Season 1 which is 3gb in total. Each episode which is already on my drive and correctly referenced in Sonarr is like 5gb or something similar.
My profiles are pretty simple, i have one called High (that i use for high quality) and one called Standard which is set as so:
Maybe i’m doing something stupid but any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have been out of the *arr scene for a little while, I remember when setting up my Homelab last time there was a script that would walk you through the setup of the *arr docker containers step by step, it was a guided install script. The script in question installed the entire environment for you by asking questions as you go, it included all of the *arrs and even plex and sab. Hoping someone can point me in the right direction. TIA
Given multiple files of the same quality, I want radarr to download the one with the smaller file size regardless of how many seeders there are. For example, preferring x265 over x264. Is there a way to do this?
