Hi all,
End of the World Day is upon us! Legend has it that back in 2011 Harold Camping (yeah, that guy) swore up and down that the rapture would hit at 6 p.m. local time on May 21. When nothing vaporized, he doubled down and claimed Judgment Day had quietly happened decades earlier. Classic move, right?
Here at StingyUsenet, we’re not big on celestial fireworks, but we do believe in preparing for the worst - especially when it comes to running out of usenet. So, in honor of End of the World Day, we’re unleashing a MASSIVE 30% discount on all our plans. No divine intervention required.
Ever wanted to stockpile every obscure newsgroup post, archive every cat gif, or simply binge-use in shame-free Linux ISO’s? Now’s your chance. Whether you think today is the last, or you just really love a good deal, we’ve got you covered.
As of right now until …
How are you guys scanning files? I am looking to get into usenet for bin downloads. But since I read in the FAQ that malware is quite common, I am wondering what everyone is using to check downloads.
Mostly interesting for me is this because from what I can tell, many have automated setups for usenet bin file downloads using the “holy trinity”. But nowhere was a recommended malware scanner mentioned.
I’d get more useful answers out of an AI bot (which this could be for all I can tell). Yeah Greg, this is where I’d put my ticket number, if I had one. I’ve asked 3 times for one to be created and have been completely ignored. I’ve also been fed BS lines like “try a different port! that will reroute your connection over the internet!” which is so blatantly wrong I don’t even know where to start.
You guys need to get your shit together. Your us west server craps out a lot, and gets god awful choppy and slow intermittently (like 5-6MB/s, then drops to 0 and lags with any replies, then spikes back up, then drops, rinse repeat) and takes FOREVER to reply to article checks, and templated replies with bullshit answers from support when I try to report it just pisses people off.
I finally have enough media on my Synology server to cancel all my subscriptions. The last to go today was Spotify… which I had been hanging onto for waaaaay too long…
All my content is legal, too, losslessly copied from my own CDs and Blu-rays & DVDs, or recorded over the air on my HDHomeRun FLEX. I’ve got nothing against piracy, it’s just the way I prefer to do it, so that I can have complete control over all my content (and its quality).
Plex Pass Lifetime* has completely altered the way I approach media consumption over the past couple of years, such a great investment!
*edit: I have the lifetime Plex Pass, not a monthly subscription

Hello everyone!
After a chaotic past, I’m excited to share that Wizarr has been completely rewritten, back to basics. We’re leaving the past behind and rethinking the whole point of Wizarr.
The problem: Inviting your Friends/Family to your Plex server Is complicated and tedious. It’s also a hard concept for them to get their head around.
The solution: Wizarr makes it easy to invite users to your server by simply sending them a link, and guides them through the process of getting set up.

Does anyone even use plex channels? Also maybe we need an enshittification flair for posts since that seems to be the road plex is going down.
I like many have struggled with plex downloads to devices for offline use. With a trip abroad pending in the next few days and two children under 12, I NEEDED to find out why plex downloads were not working.
I was forever getting “waiting” alongside any media I was attempting to download on my kids android tablets. Checking the server, no transcoding happening. Hours or waiting resulted in nothing.
Most of my content is HD Remux or 4K Remux. So transcoded downloads is a must.
I tried what seemed like everything; sunk a couple hours into it trying lots of things people suggested.
Hey Team,
Just wanted to let you know that you can install Huntarr for Windows and via macOS with Intel and ARM editions. So now you can use it along with Sonarr for Windows or macOS. Thanks to those who kept motivating (complaining on GitHub) to get this done.
After 4 massive failures and 30 hours of changing the codebase for the Huntarr multi-os edition (v7); along with stubborn push builds… Huntarr for Windows works perfectly now!
To check out the installations, view https://github.com/plexguide/Huntarr.io/releases, and you’ll see the macOS and Windows installations.
Visit the Huntarr GITHUB @ https://huntarr.io
& Installation guide from https://plexguide.github.io/Huntarr.io/getting-started/installation.html (will be updated)
Note for Windows, when you install… you’ll see the blue screen, click the more info link in the upper left and then click install.
Also, the interface has been updated a bit from v6.
For those of you who are new to Huntarr: …
The MediaStack development work has just been pushed to production, with a major update to stack applications, but moreso the network architecture for remotely accessing the environment.

I’m having a few shows pulling requests for shows that haven’t aired yet (all virus’s and malware junk most likely, not standard media extensions). Is there a way to prevent Sonarr from pulling episodes that haven’t aired yet? I’d love to set the pull requests to START 24 hours After the episode airs.
I have thought about this for a long time but haven’t found a good way to implement it.
Have the odd rss filters for some go to shows etc that need manual updating but would ideally like to have a dynamic check daily of popular releases. This is often available on trackers top 10 sections. However, they are never available as rss.
Any ideas how to achieve this in a good way? IE to not miss any blockbusters, highly anticipated releases etc in categories like movies, tv and music.
Would ideally like to hear from users that are actually doing this and can show examples of radarr and *arr stack implementations that achieve this.
EDIT: Great replies! Thanks! Will look into adding trakt lists to begin with. Should also be able to add something for music. A semi hack I have found is to add a feed with specific users that are known to upload, like release groups etc. But it doesn’t cover everything of course.
Solved: I’m just going to go back to the ‘released’ availability setting; Better safe than sorry.
I noticed quite a few movies recently getting high quality WEB-DL releases while still in theaters.
If they’re true WEB-DL, the main groups don’t release a new version unless the movie gets a physical release.
Choosing ‘Minimum Availability’ often misses these movies, entirely, until it comes out on disc.
Choosing ‘In Cinemas’ occasionally grabs an unlabled CAM releases.
Are there any tricks to catching these early WEB-DL releases, while avoiding (most) CAMs?
I’ve caught otherwise reputable release groups having their CAMs unlabled, from time to time.
