So I have a promo in my email for Plex pass lifetime for $83.99. I’m still on a 1year subscription that I got through Apple so there’s no getting my money back on that (even partially) but if $84 is a good deal for lifetime I’d be okay upgrading now. As I’d still save money over the $119 regular price.
To get friends to try out Plex? Like all you do is create a free account so I can share with them… I’ve told multiple friends about it, and they all just tell me they are good with their paid streaming services. Sigh

Sorry if this sounds depressing, it’s not. As we grow up and have families and eventually craft a will, retirement plan, etc., it dawned on me that if something happens to me, there’s no way my wife would know how to manage the Plex server or even what would come of it. Like many of you, I have contributed hours/years of meticulously organizing, tagging, curating and designing posters, etc., and at some point, it might not be something we can pass down (compared to a DVD collection that might end up at a yard sale), it might just go poof. So curious if anyone has a plan, and if so, share details so we can all learn. Because it’s definitely worth passing down but doubtful my SO or kids could even fathom what to do with it.
It appears they’re finally killing the VR product. It’s a shame really! Especially with the Vision Pro (still a niche market at that pricing), and both the Quest 3 and Pro getting better at video quality. Alas, here’s the email we just received.
They had added $24 USD to my bill without any notification and their text support danced around this issue without addressing this head on. They had added junk services I didn’t want and since I never received a notification, junk services I didn’t know they were adding.
Their “support” is noticeably different, noticeably worse. I don’t remember it being how it is now, which is apparently heavy usage of AI/scripts/bots to respond so the customer can’t refute their practices. I really don’t remember it being like that in the past. In fact, their communication was direct and clear, but clearly not now.
8 years as a customer and they steamrolled me with unethical business practices. I’m guessing that they’ve changed owners and are under new “corporate leadership”. I’m going to inform and inquiry with the listacles and/or websites that they have mentioned on their homepage as I’m wondering who’s profiting …
I was able to use it just fine a few hours ago. All of a sudden I got hit with this error:

Recently had to restart from scratch on my collection and start fresh. I signed up for an account at a couple indexers (my old indexer credentials were also lost and unrecoverable). I put nzbplanet as my first option in my arrs and slug as my second option. Took less than 5 hours for planet to turn me off. I reached 1000 nzbs on my “unlimited” plan. I emailed support but nobody answers that apparently. Very frustrating. I know I sound like a spoiled brat complaining about it but I just wish they would say their limit is 1000 and not sell based on it being unlimited.
The fix was to put Slug as my first option because they actually do not limit me to 1000 on an “unlimited” plan. Won’t be renewing the Planet account.

Since yesterday, 21 March 2024, altHUB has been under attack. Looking further into logs it looks as though what took our database load balancer offline was in fact a DDoS attack.
This has escalated to what looks like a credential stuffing attack against various altHUB users along with, potentially email enumeration attacks (these are yet to be confirmed)f

Initial Challenge: My goal was clear – to obtain files in 1080p h264 in mp4 format with AAC audio. However, this format is becoming less common, giving way to h265 in mkv. I have previously imported and renamed all files with Sonarr, showing as Season 2004, Season 2005 etc.

Today the show has shown up in my ‘episodes missing’ filter, showing only the 2010&2011 seasons, the rest are now showing as Season 1-20 with missing files (because of course my files are still named the old way).

Looking at TvDB, the seasons are still showing the old way, but it was last modified today by a user. So I thought perhaps that user changed it, realised their mistake and put it back, and Sonarr hadn’t caught up yet - since I know it caches info for a while.

A few hours have passed and it still wont update back to how it should be (and how TvDB is currently showing), even after a system restart.

~~I upgraded my storage and I’m trying to upgrade my library from low quality 1080p encodes to QXR/Tigole releases which seem to be consistently a good balance of quality and efficiency (in terms of file size).
I set up a custom format for Tigole and QxR files and gave these a high priority in my quality profiles (see imgur)
Then I go to a movie with a low quality file (non-Tigole/QxR) and click the search magnifying glass. I would expect it to find one of the Tigole/QxR torrents and download this, upgrading my existing file. But it doesn’t find anything.
Am I doing something wrong?

I’ve double-checked that all the quality criteria are set to unlimited, and my profile is configured to upgrade up to 2160p Remux.
However, I’m wondering if my language setting being on “Original” could be causing an issue. Would it be advisable to switch it to “Any”? It would downgrade a 4K Remux movie to a 2160p Web-Rip for whatever reason.
I have a clean-up question that I can’t seem to find a best practice for.
I have Sonarr on an Unraid server using hardlinks following the trash guides. There are many times when I’ll be missing an episode or two and it’s easier to just grab a season file. Once it’s downloaded, the missing episodes are imported and the file sits in activity at 100%, because not everything was imported.
I’m curious about the benefits and drawbacks of deleting the file from download client with hardlinks? I’d like to keep sharing rarer files, but also cut down on duplicates to save server space.
I guess a bonus question would be what are the benefits and drawbacks if I keep the season pack, but delete the individual episodes from qbit with “delete torrent and files” selected?
