The latest news is that management wants to start introducing full AI coding agents which can just be handed a PRD and they go out and do whatever it is that’s required. They’ll write code, open PRs, create additional stories in Jira if they must, the full vibe-coding package.

I need to get the fuck out of this company as soon as possible, and I have no idea what sector to look at for job opportunities. Context: we work on complex systems and the monolith has literally millions of lines of code. We’re deeply concerned that only IntelliJ really provides the tooling we need to work on such a hairy system. In addition, we’re moving to Go and GoLand is such an excellent editor it seems like complete self sabotage.

Management don’t have any explanation for why they want to do this except that we should be “AI default”. They have confirmed (or at least said) it’s nothing to do with license costs.

I’ve done a lot of startup work. I’ve worked for a few big companies.

I’ve always felt I’ve kinda had to be a feral engineer. My earlier career I was often in the position of “my boss can’t do my job”. It’s hard to learn better ways of doing things if you’re the only person in your organization who could do those things. And sure, I’m really good at autodidactism, but that doesn’t lend itself to a lot of tribal knowledge transfer. So a lot of times in larger organizations, I just didn’t fit in.

I recently interviewed with DoorDash, who said that I would do a “Code Craft” interview. They told me that this would test “real skills”, not DSA interview questions like other companies.

In the interview, I was asked to design an API for a payments system. The implementation wasn’t too complicated. But the way the interview was run struck me as very odd. To name a few things:

1. The interviewer held their cards very close to their chest. When I asked clarifying questions about the prompt, they gave vague answers and even said “you should already have an idea of what you want to do here”, etc.

TL;DR: TLS certificates have specified “Extended Key Usages”. Currently, Let’s Encrypt certificates can be used for Server Authentication and Client Authentication [1]. In another instance of “Google ruins everything”, Google’s new requirements to certificate authorities require separate authority/signing chains to be used to issue Server Authentication and Client Authentication certificates. Therefore, starting 11 February 2026, Let’s Encrypt will no longer include the Client Authentication EKU on default certificates (you can still request an alternate endpoint until 13 May 2026, after which the EKU will no longer be available).

This tool generates an encyclopedia style article for any article title, no matter if the subject exists or if the model knows anything about it. Then you can surf on concepts from that hallucinated article to more hallucinated articles.

It’s most entertaining with small models, I find gemma3:1b sticks to the format and cheerfully hallucinates detailed articles for literally anything. I suppose you could get correctish information out of a larger model but that’s dumb.

Hey folks, I’ve got a VIP account there. Is Nzb.su somewhat down or something? I can open the web page, I can call the API, queries are successful, but regardless of what I query, the result is always empty. Is it me or do they have a problem?

I was checking out TrueUp after all the recent tech layoffs and noticed Plex had another round of cuts last month (July 2025). Yet, haven’t seen anyone talking about it. We all remember the big cuts back in June 2023 (~20% of staff), but seeing another round this year makes me wonder if that’s part of why things feel so slow on the personal media side.

Honestly, it’s been frustrating watching Plex double down on FAST channels and ads while long-standing bugs and feature requests for personal media just sit there. Stuff that made Plex what we all know in love feels like it’s barely moving forward anymore. Maybe I’m reading too much into it, but between the layoffs and the lack of personal media updates, it almost feels like Plex is shifting away from its roots. Does anyone else feel the same?

Edit: An ex-Plex employee in the comments confirmed PMS went from five engineers before the 2023 layoffs, down to three, and now just two after the July 2025 cuts, which makes my concern about …

I’ve literally been waiting for this moment for 8 years, but every place I’ve lived has had shit upload speed even on the most expensive service. I’d have to take my server down sometimes if I was in a ranked match and someone tried to stream. But now I have gig upload and it doesn’t matter how many people are streaming full quality.
