I am an avid internet lurker, and I hope that I can find most of the hidden gems on Usenet.
Not sure how providers cope with old files. Does longer retention equal a bigger possibility for these files to be found and completed?
I wouldn’t want to pay extra for certain providers and NZBs only to find out that they don’t have what I’m looking for.
Anybody who searched and downloaded old files, what’s your experience? What’s your combo for obtaining them (provider+indexer+automation tool)?
Fairly new to Usenet. One thing I don’t entirely understand is why so much content that is old but not ancient (a year or so) is unable to be downloaded. Surely the indexer knows, by now, that this is no good and has likely been hit with a DMCA right?
So why don’t indexers drop those? Are there indexers that do?
Am I wrong to think Google groups has incomplete archives? I actually pulled up some old usenet posts of mine from 1997, but a lot of the original posts that I was replying to are completely missing. Is there anyway to get a more complete archive so I can see the entire conversation for better context and read the exact post I was interacting with when I left my reply?
I’ve been a very happy client of xsusenet.com until recently. I’ve just checked my emails and I’ve been using them for a bit over 10 years. They’ve had some sort of issue with their database some months back and since then no one has been answering support tickets.
I renewed my account last year, around october. Some time later I bought a Black Friday deal. I then contacted support to ask if it is possible to merge the two accounts and keep the combined purchased days, but keep the smaller price. One day later it was already changed. No problems at all. I was so happy.
Some time later I get an email that they had a database issue and had to restore a previous version of the database. This reverted the accounts merger so I was left with two separate usenet accounts again. I thought “no biggie, I’ll just send them another support ticket”. It’s been months since I keep sending them emails, submitting support tickets, etc. Nothing. No reply …
Anyone experience this? I sometimes have grabs that are extremely slow, like right now a 6GB file says it’s taking 7 hours. Usually a file like this will take just a few minutes on my 500mb download speed.
I tried from althub and geek. I have Tweaknews and Cubenet.
This is a brand new release that came out in the last hour or so. Could this matter (others also grabbing it and slowing it down?)
Fav site to get posters? third party programs to make your life easier? Little known trick that can improve QoL. Let me know!
Note: it’s been brought to my attention by u/SwiftPanda16 that a Plex employee confirmed in a forum post an hour ago (03/19/2025) that they will also be limiting the method I outline below. Shame on Plex 😔.
Plex announced that beginning April 29, 2025, “Remote Access” will become a Plex Pass-only feature (or alternatively a separate $1.99 subscription, which is ridiculous). The article implies that free users will no longer be able to stream media remotely. However, as I’ll explain in this post, there’s an alternative method for remotely streaming media without “Remote Access”.
I’ll also add that I am a Plex Pass user, so these announced changes don’t affect me. The reason I use this method is due to privacy concerns. In a default setup, Plex proxies all remote DNS/IP handling through their servers before reaching the user. This method removes Plex as a middleman from the streaming process.
Hey community!
I wanted to share a project I’ve been working on called Pulsarr that bridges Plex watchlists with Sonarr and Radarr in real-time.
Pulsarr is an integration tool that monitors Plex watchlists (yours and your friends’) through RSS feeds, automatically triggering downloads via Sonarr and Radarr. The big advantage? Everything happens directly from within the Plex app itself - no need to switch to a separate app, and no need for individual Plex Tokens.
New user here with a question. Just as an example, say, The White Lotus s0e06 comes out next Sunday (the 23rd). But then Sonarr just grabbed it and downloaded it 5 days early. How is this possible?
Might be helpful for some. This Custom format with ranking will provide you with a balance of prioritizing AV1 / 265 / 264 with Atmos / 5.1 / 2.1 and dropping True HD to the bottom.
Many devices don’t support True HD ATMOS and only support DDP ATMOS, which causes Plex to downscale to 2.1 if the file is True HD ATMOS.
Here is a Custom Format grouping with scoring that supports the best of both worlds while keeping True HD out of the mix for those who need it - works in both Sonarr and Radarr.
Dropping the True HD and adding it to the Atmos if you want it is easy enough.

I’ve been doing a ton of reading lately about starting a plex server with the Arr suite.
It seems like there are a few different approaches like running a PC as a server, using a NAS, using a PC with DAS or using a seed box.
Not sure which would be the best option for me to go about starting my journey given my current living situation.
My wife is a travel nurse and we move every 3 months for her travel contracts. Generally we will stay in fully furnished, short term rentals with all utilities included. Sort of like AirBnBs, but usually it’s just someone putting their condo or apartment up for rent on a website that specializes in housing for travel workers. Because of the way we currently live, I have no control over the internet plans at the places we stay. The landlord has all the utilities included their name and we just pay rent.
The upload and download speeds at places we have stayed at have ranged from shitty with 6.68mbps download and 0.75mbps upload to pretty good with …
In Sonnarr SNL is showing the 50th anniversary episode as e13 causing the last two episodes and all remaining episodes to be e(xx)+1.
How can this be fixed
