3 days with it and so far i’m not impressed. Carrys fine I guess but these straps are very short
Wanted an OG spartan forever but can justify the price. Picked this up last week to try out. Was worried it would be too small for my daily office carry, but it’s not! Will be a great day hike pack as well!
That’s a 46oz yeti rambler and 24oz GSI microlite for those interested.
I’m 6’2” and have the harness adjusted to where it is comfortable for me.
Trying to decide if I want to devise a way to strap this to my GR2 for travel or not.
As an avid traveler who’s always looking for ways to improve my gear while slimming down my luggage, I’ve gotten heavily into merino gear. When I picked up my first 100% merino hoodie in 2019, I was very sceptical: you mean to tell me this won’t get smelly when worn, while regulating my temperature? Sounds like marketing BS to me.
Fast forward a 12-hour flight and I’m in love. The stuff is even better than the claims I considered outlandish before. Never had I felt so comfortable on a flight: snug and warm, while never breaking a sweat. Once at my destination I smelled the hoodie under the armpits and — nothing. Unbelievable this stuff is real.
However, I quickly discovered the flipsides of the fabric. Right off the bat, price is an issue; merino gear is expensive. That’s fine if I only need to pack one shirt instead of three. But here’s the kicker: my beloved hoodie, which cost me € 200+ basically started to unravel over the months to come. Yup, …

Going light and minimal for a city trip to England. Expecting wind, rain and cold. Taking my Aer Slim Pack 8,5L backpack with a rain cover and have a little room to spare.
Converted that’s 6.6lbs, 2 gallon and 50-68F.

Running shoes that look good at the bar; slightly dressier Atom LT; etc.
Flew with TAP Portugal. Flight attendants did measure and weigh bags on the way to Portugal, but didn’t on the way back from Portugal. Our bags fit in the overhead compartments with room to spare when inserted so the bottom of the bags faced the outside of the plane on our flight (3 seats per side of aisle).
Both bags fully packed were about 16lbs.
Took trains to Sintra and drove a rental car to the Algarves.

I got back this past Sunday from an almost 2-week trip to Ireland and Iceland with my wife, my sister-in-law, and her husband. I made a quick post about how well some of the gear worked but figured I would share my full packing list and experiences with the stuff I brought. My wife and I go carry-on as much as possible and for this trip I really wanted to evaluate my carry-on/onebag setup while taking an honest assessment of what worked well and what I could do without for next time. Also, I also wanted to see if the Travel Sling 2 improved the travel day experience and whether it would replace my trusty LL Bean Stowaway Pack as my daypack.
Disclaimers:
Previous iterations of the site showed all available colors of a garment with each picture labeled
On the new site there’s a pic of each garment, and separately a labeled box of sizes with a digitally colored border
I really need to see the colors matched to the garment. For instance on the UFT, looking at the garment pictures I can’t tell which is Radioactive and which is Double Sunshine. If I wanted to order one based on the actual picture, I’d be guessing. No bueno.

I got the Cash Injection Popover (cash injex) a few months ago and was immediately blown away by how light and airy it was. True to the other reviews on the sub, the fabric is both lighter and more breathable than Injected Linen, so light it’s almost ethereal. I was expecting it to be soft like knitted cashmere, but instead the cashmere almost isn’t there when I look at it up close. Handfeel-wise, all I really feel are the vertical poly threads; it’s not exactly rough but you can feel the ridges of the poly more than the actual cashmere strands when touching the fabric.
All of this leads to a popover that feels closest to wearing nothing at all out of any piece of clothing I’ve worn (uniqlo airism seamless undershirts are also pretty close). …
Well, it’s that time again. Very unofficial post-launch focus group sound off.
Site still suffers a bit on mobile, but sizing and color visibility are vastly improved!
The biggest issue that I run into is the totally unnecessary number of dropdowns. It does make navigation a bit confusing. There’s some wonkiness with color blocking of the modules as well, but it could be worse.
For disclaimers about where I’m coming from, refer back to my first Fabrics and Feelings post. The TL;DR is that I’m just some guy dancing about architecture.
Why compare these two fabrics? I’ve been wearing dreamweight nonstop for months and I just tried daybreak for the first time today. As lighter-weight merino blends, they occupy similar niches in terms of functionality but deliver wildly different emotions. Dreamweight deserves a full review, but in the meantime the differences were illuminating.
How do they look? Daybreak looks fairly trad merino, with its special qualities primarily expressing through touch. I perceive a little sheen although I feel like it shouldn’t look different from pure merino given that the nylon core isn’t exposed – we really do see with our brain, not our eyes. Dreamweight looks more radical, with a consistent wavy structure in lines offset ~30% from the horizontal obscuring its relative translucency. I don’t …
Hello, I’m tired of buying lousy shirts and have been looking into more premium brands. Think I want to purchase a 3 pack of shirts from outlier and have no idea where to start. I definitely want a new earth cotton GT. No idea what I want for the other two. I’m 6’5 ~245lbs. Any advice on what other two I should get? Thanks
The best of both worlds in a long-sleeved billboard t-shirt. Organic cotton on the outside, merino performance against the skin, and garment-dyed character throughout. The billboard cut is a loose fit that features hockey-kimono shoulders and a horizontal chest seam.
