Just received my preorder of the Toshi backpack and immediately transferred over the contents of my daily work bag (Bellroy Venture Ready 26L) to test it out.
Pros:
Cons:
While traveling in Japan this month, I happened to see that they sell Able Carry, as well as Alpaka and Aer in physical stores which back in Los Angeles I never see these brands on shelves! Only online. So naturally I was curious to see if they had the EDC Max that had been sold out online and is currently not being shipped to the US per their website. Thankfully after many visits to different Oshman’s, Smith’s, and Loft I finally fond one store (Loft - Ginza) that carried the Max EDC in X-PAC and black. At this point it’s near impossible to get back home so I had to snap it up immediately. I used it for the rest of the trip even using it as my carry on personal item on the way home. Love this bag and I’m still enjoying new ways to use and pack it!
I’ve never really liked backpacks that split the interior into a separate laptop compartment and main compartment. A lot of people seem to like them because they can put their laptop and documents together in that section and their travel stuff in the main section, but that just doesn’t work for me.
Here’s why:
And honestly, I think the split design has some real downsides:
Disclaimer, I’m not a seasoned manybagger and I haven’t had much experience with popular brands on here like Aer, Evergoods, Able Carry, etc. But I have lurked here for a few months in search of a perfect EDC bag and landed on the Toshi 20L. Also I suck at taking pics, so sorry in advance.
Just got this in today so obviously haven’t really used it yet, but first impressions are good. This bag is meant to replace an aging Herschel bookbag, and I’ll mainly use it as a work-from-cafe bag and a personal item for flights. Here are some thoughts.
The good:
Items shown; rework gear toshi sling 5l, hero clip, ambutech slimline white cane
Got this today, and absolutely love it, I upgraded from the tomtoc 41 from 2 years ago to the inatek x sling, and now to this, I think I found my main everyday bag for the foreseeable future, the straps at the bottom are perfect for my cane, and the bag is just so slim even with packed out with the same gear that made the inatek into a football, don’t get me wrong the expandable center was cool, but it stuck out way too much.
What strap would y’all recommend, Ive seen alpaka has a few different options, but not sure which to pick, also any recommendations for a handle strap would be nice, I know people have DIYd their own, but I’m looking for something simple to put on.
Let me know if there’s other mods I might be able to make to improve the already great experience

Tech consultant. Everything I’m taking for a 4 day business trip. Everything fits in an OG Evergoods CPL24.
Missing just my phone, Apple Watch and the iPad pencil. I’m also leaving the house dressed so there is that :)
Most of it is self explanatory but if you have questions please ask.
Wanted to send a short encouragement about one bagging if you’re nervous:
I recently took a 10 day trip to Europe. I travel pretty extensively and overpack EVERY SINGLE TIME
This time I challenged myself to live out of a bag BUT to make it easier:
I packed how I regularly do
When I got to Europe I reassessed my packing and put everything I wanted to try to live without in my checked bag. I covered the checked bag to make it really annoying to get in and out of.
I then lived out of my Cotopaxi 35L and Hershel Tote. I traveled as if I only had the items in those bags. My overly prepared nature knew I had extra stuff if I needed it, but I wasn’t allowed to touch it unless it was an emergency and if I used it then I knew it could move to the primary bag. This included washing clothes even though I had extra, layering if I got cold instead of reaching for the thicker sweater in the no go suitcase, etc
It was a SUCCESS. I had zero problems living out of the bag and a half …
Hey all. I came across a comment yesterday that mentioned removing the stitching of the 3rd pen holder in the front pocket of the Daylite 26+6. That way, the elastic pocket can fit a passport or Field notes. I decided to try it out and took a couple of pictures/videos of the process.
It was super easy, you just have to cut the stitching all the way down. It’s a single thread. And you can also see it from the backside (the interior of the bag). I figured I’d post this just to help anyone who might want to do the same
Just got back from a 2-week minimalist trip to Sardinia with everything fitting in or around the ULA Dragonfly ULTRA 30L (White). Pic shows the full setup with all gear laid out. 🎒
Would love to hear your thoughts or ideas for lightening the load even more!

I’ve traveled with one bag with this 40L baboon to the moon backpack many times. Now that I see this sub I feel like am I missing out by not getting one these more technical travel focused bags. Am I wrong for thinking this?
A big, open, and relatively short short, all meshed out for maximum air flow. Thick, dense and smooth Overkill pushes the limits of what constitutes a mesh, threading the border between opaque and transparent. Cut loose and easy, with a 6” inseam and an inside/outside 3Bar+paracord adjust. Strictly for the bold, not for the shy ones.
Overkill Mesh Littlebigs - Expected Tuesday, June 3rd, 1pm NYC.
Postdenim Articulates - Expected Tuesday, June 3rd, 1pm NYC.
A raw cut Injected Linen boxford experiment [#512]. Injected Linen is warp knit, which means it raw cuts far better than classic woven shirt fabrics. By leaving all edges raw cut rather than folding them back we can create a flatter laying shirt, which in turn creates a dynamic tension with exposed raw edges of the fabric. A button-up study in contrasts if you will.
Now available in RDX Sativa, RDX Navylit, RDX Smokedplum, RDX Lightlines, RDX Olivelit and RD White
A short with a highly articulated knee experiment [#529] in the hard-wearing and unfadeable Postdenim Bombtwill fabric. A long, 18” inseam, short, darted to create an optical illusion of sorts. Looks relatively straight and slim viewed head on, but from the side it creates an exaggerated parabolic taper.
I love these shirts, so sad they’re not in stock any more. Any chance they’ll do a restock? What are good alternatives?
