Just found this for $40, what do you guys think? Is it a better alternative compared to the Ultimate 3E?

On paper, this controller should have worked wonderfully with my needs (Xbox series X and Steam Machine user). But in practice, compared to my Xbox Elite 2 controller (I want to replace it because the 3.5mm jack is broken), it’s simply subpar.
I want a high-quality controller, and it’s simply a downgrade. Yes, it’s a step up in quality from something like the G7Pro, but the D pad isn’t great, the ergonomics threw me off (I like a wide-elbow stance), it’s smaller in my hands, and the buttons weren’t as snappy as I’d like.
U.S. buyer.
I play games like helldivers 2, friendslop, mostly co op action or puzzle games.
I’ll throw $150-$200 down on a premium controller because the elite 2 spoiled me. I want compatibility with my steam machine, back buttons, rubber/textured grips, and a solid build quality. Any recs?
I’ve always wondered whether it would be possible to mod a dualsense by swapping the positions of the left analog stick and the D-pad to achieve an Xbox-style layout. Could this be done by soldering wires to reroute the connections and 3D-printing custom housing parts to accommodate the new layout?
I know that 3rd party compatible controllers with this layout do exist for ps4/5 but I’m only interested in this dualsense modding.
The Ultimate 2 Wireless is a great pad, but its config software only runs on Windows. I play on Linux, so I reverse-engineered the app and wrote my own.
It does profiles, remaps every button (the L4/R4 shoulder buttons and PL/PR back paddles too), stick and trigger ranges, rumble strength, gyro, the LED rings, and it shows the battery when you’re on the 2.4G dongle. Buttons light up on screen as you press them, which is handy for testing.

It’s free and open source (MIT). Beta, only touches settings, tested on my pink one (fw 1.10). I built it with help from an AI assistant and tested everything on the real controller. Not affiliated with 8BitDo.
If you’ve got an Ultimate 2 in another colour, I’d like to hear if it works for you.

Important: this isn’t a sponsored review. I bought the controller with my own money in a local online shop (OZON), made my own photos and I’m not affiliated with ASUS in any way. I’m not a professional reviewer or content creator, but an enthusiast. I just felt like sharing my impressions. Have a great day y’all.
One of the few purchases lately that I’ve genuinely enjoyed.
Build quality and ergonomics. Clean black minimalism, excellent build quality. The best grip of any controller I’ve tried. Pick it up and it feels like one solid piece, with the rear buttons sitting perfectly under your fingers.
Latency. #1 in wireless mode, top 5 wired. And GameSir is already in sixth place. But for context, out of everything ranked above it (Gamepadla - LatScore), only two are actually decent controllers: the symmetrical Void Genesis and the wired Tarantula..
Buttons and sticks. The clicks sound sharper and more metallic than Flydigi’s, yet …
Initial thoughts before much use:
Feels more premium in x-pac than V1 nylon. I wonder if the Nylon is more premium on V2, or identical to V1.
Back panel on 25L feels more structured compared to 20L, probably to support heavier carry compared to smaller bag. Feels more comfortable than V1.
Crinkle master! If you do not like the sound of X-pac, this is not the bag for you, it is very crinkly, more so than my Able Carry Daily Plus or Max EDC. It might break in and be less noisy. I personally love it, but buyer beware.
The size on my 5’9” 170lb frame is just ideal. The 20L was a touch small, but this 25L… I honestly think it might end up being my end game bag, replacing all but my Pioneer Backpacks.
I bought this thinking I might end up returning. After testing it out for the last hour, I realize this might be up there with the best bag I have ever owned.
I own the Rework Reset backpack, Rework Toshi V1, and now this bag. While I will always love the Rework Reset …
I dailied the Toshi 20L v1 during the first half of this year, and have tried many of the general recs on this sub (Aer CPP 20L, Able Carry Max EDC, CTB20, Alpaka Elements Pro, Sympl Commuter v1, etc). The toshi arrived today, and so far all I’ve done is a packout and a dog walk, but figured I’d share some initial thoughts.
General strengths
improvements on v1
retained flaws/nits from v1
I’ve turned into a total judgemental, ManyBagger nerd, but one thing I’ve noticed is that I rarely see people using the name-brand gear when I travel (aside from the usual spinner suitcases and rollerboards).
Travel backpacks, duffels, and other specialty bags? Mostly budget-friendly options from brands like Decathlon.
It makes me wonder: In such a crowded market, how do all these bag manufacturers stay afloat when, at least from what I see out in the wild, the customer base for premium gear seems pretty small?
Am I just looking in the wrong places, or is there a whole market of bag enthusiasts quietly buying and collecting this stuff?
I’m going to have to give a couple of bags to friends. This is just ridiculous.
Most of these should be pretty recognizable to the regulars here. Somehow I have four Evergoods CTBs, including a 20L in XPac and a Phoenix 24L. I have a couple older Tom Bihn bags, including a Super Ego and a Synapse Guide Edition. The A19 bag is a Pathfinder, which is still my favorite bag for hauling around a gaming laptop.
Just a quick post that, I hope, shows the difference between these two in external dimensions. The Patagonia is mine and the Osprey my wife’s both on a week away in Italy. Fairly packed but not overfull, we each had room for a litre of booze on the way home.
First time traveling “light”.
If you have recommendations pls let me know :)
This is all my gear including the daily wear.
My questions:
Are three pants and 5 shirts too many ?
Should I bring the slides in case they don’t have any in my (pretty large) size?
Do I need an extra layer?

Osprey Transporter 26+6 for 2 week trip
I turned a 4-day work trip into a two-week trip to see family. And with this subreddit being what it is, I challenged myself to one bag it.
For anyone who wants details, I include them at the end. Something to note is I fit all of this stuff without expanding the bag (so this is only 26L), still had room to spare, and it fits perfectly in a personal item sizing bin. The one in the pic is from Southwest.
Originally I had a pair of size 13 running shoes, a white T-shirt, and a nice button-down shirt in the bag too. The only things I would have had to leave out to make it work were the iPad and keyboard. Considering I’m a 280lb man starting to run again, I’ll opt for walking during this trip, and I kept the electronics instead.
Pros about the Transporter 26+6: when the main compartment isn’t filled to the brim (like packing all these clothes plus running shoes), the front compartment is god tier useful. I usually stuff the 5L waist pack in there …
Edit: Forgot to do a final weigh so I’ll re-weigh and update once I arrive
Hi! I’m traveling in Australia, Tasmania, and New Zealand until Jan - surfing, cities/going out, Halloween, tramping, farm work. I also shoot photography and the most difficult part about my setup was my inability to sacrifice my DSLR or my film SLR. Oops :).
I’ve haphazardly one-bagged before with an optimized-for-budget-airline-personal-item backpack (that was kinda cray too bc it was Rome, Malta, and then hut-to-hut hiking in the Asturias), but this is my first time really planning it out. I’m currently on my flight to Australia — so no harsh feedback if possible on reorganizing or I will cry. Just kidding. My plan is to cheat and unpack stuff into the 22L daypack if needed (this bag is quite tight as u can imagine), but I needed to start with it all in one for my ego. I considered a 50L I have at home but this one is way more supportive. I’ll come back and update how it all went in January.

Just a show-and-tell post! I’ve been a one bag traveler (not continuous) for about 20 years now, and have my situation more or less dialed in for my needs.
My current everyday and short-term travel bag is the ULA Cicada EWP; it is missing one feature that would have made it perfect for me, so I have ordered a custom one with that feature on the way, at which point I’ll be selling this one.
My upcoming trip is going to be through pretty stable weather; mostly cool to slightly cold, with some rain. Taking a bit of extra first aid this time, as I have a wound that’s still healing and needs some extra care.
Normally I’d do a trip of this length in my custom Dragonfly 30L, but I will be shepherding some elders, managing their travel logistics and any extra luggage. Since there is going to be a lot of transit, I wanted to travel a little more lean, and the Cicada was a better fit.
I’m definitely overpacking on this trip, especially with some of the specialty …
Hey everyone. I want to share my packing list and what I’ve taken on a three week trip to Indonesia.
For the backpack I’m using the black Pakt Cero 35L. It’s the perfect fit for me and the 1kg weight really helps with strict airlines here in Asia. Also it’s a nice X-Pac like material and is fully featured.
For the camera cube I’m using a Pgytech cube which exactly fits my Canon R7 with sigma RF 16-300 lens and DJI mini 2 fly more kit. Also I got extra accessories like a Peak design capture clip, SD card adapter, headlamp and powerbank.
In the peak design large camera cube i have all my clothes. 4 pair of pants (swim shorts, sport pants, 2 shorts) and I’m wearing one long pants. I also carry 6 T-shirts (mix of cotton, Merino etc) in there.
In the medium cube I carry my towel, underwear and socks. Around 4 socks, 7 pieces of underwear and the towel is microfiber, but pretty big.
For the rest I got my Beuchat glass, snorkel, underwater case from …
Have loved seeing all the photos of olive green waxed canvas bags arriving, so I thought I’d join in and share mine. I love my CTB26 X-Pac, but I have to say that, at least for edc, this 20L has been wonderful.
Custom made some leather handles with antiqued brass snaps for it. Also added one of the patches from the Alpaka 9th anniversary collection. On the hunt for a special patch for this bag though, feel like it needs something a bit more…classy.
Klein’s are slotted and Phillips. Wera are hex.
In late spring and summer, when the sun is shining (even in the UK), I usually carry my Bellroy Venture 9L. Looks great, amazing organisation, comfortable to wear. The sunglasses pocket is brilliant, the two-way main zip is excellent for access, and the way the strap passively compresses the bag is genius. I have no complaints about this bag when the sun’s shining.
Then autumn rolls around and rain becomes an issue. The Bellroy’s front pocket has a flap that collects water and directs it into the corners of the zips. The material is fairly water resistant but can’t stand up to heavy rain. And, after the rain has passed, it just has to sit on, or under, your wet jacket. The Bellroy is not a bag for all seasons.
When Evergoods announced the refreshed X-Pac capsule would include the MHP, I wanted one. Not just in the usual way I desire almost every EG product they release – this one actually seemed a good fit for a gap in my carry options. I have a CAS2 in 840d and …
I have been looking for my “End Game Bag”. One bag that could do it all…
I think I found it in the Evergoods CTB26 in ultra. Here’s why..
My End Game Bag Criteria
(ranked based on most important to least)
Quick access… Ever since I experienced slinging a bag to one side and being able to access my wallet and phone easily, this user experience has change my view on bags forever. I hated carrying things in my pocket so having quick access was a game changer for me.
Waterproof fabric since I ride the motorcycle in the Philippines (tropical weather). I hate having to put a rain over on the bag. Rain normally happens in sections along the highway and it’s irritating to have a bag cover flapping around
Big enough for travel. For me travel consists of laptop, dop kit, tech kit, extra sandals, jacket. I prefer doing sink laundry so I pack light in terms of clothes
Small enough for EDC. Basically, doesn’t feel like too big of a bag. I …
