Before I joined this sub, I only had a 2.5L Pacsafe and an Oakley Icon Backpack that I rocked for 5+ years. Eventually, I started to search for the perfect backpack and sling combo as I outgrew my original pair. And that search led me to purchase more bags than I’d like to admit. 😅
My humble collection consists of:

Aer

So after owning an Aer CPP2 Ultra for a few months and loving every moment of it, I have gotten a CP2 in navy blue Cordura recently. I am sure this begs the question, if you love the CPP2 then why get the CP2. This is a totally fair question and I wanted to share my thoughts on the decision.
To get it out of the way first, I did not choose to get a CP2 due to any sort of size or weight considerations. Funny scaling for I am guessing camera angle in the first picture makes the CP2 seem a lot smaller than the CPP2, but if you look at the 2nd picture you will see they are very close in size actually. The CPP2 is actually the same height, half an inch wider, and 1.5 inches deeper. Due to how heavy Cordura is compared to Ultra, they weigh basically the same as well at 2.45 vs 2.57 lbs. Simply put, when both are on your back empty, there is no meaningful difference.
A while back, I shared my thoughts regarding the CPP2 Ultra after a month of daily usage and while I overwhelmingly love it …
I received my Sympl commuter V2 840D bag a week and a half ago - since then, I’ve taken it on a ~2000 KM road trip and made it my day-to-day bag when commuting to work.
For me, this bag is absolutely ideal - the quality is top-notch, the admin pouch is shockingly solid (I really thought I’d hate the key clip there but I’ve grown to like it…), and the quick-access-pocket is cavernous while still keeping some organization for a couple of small items that might otherwise get lost in the void.
Before I get into the nitty-gritty, though, I want to highlight the Sympl support team: I had originally placed a pre-order for the V2 in their standard fabric which included a free wallet. As I didn’t need the wallet, I let them know that it wouldn’t affect my order but could I please maybe perhaps substitute something else for it? - zero hesitation, they reached out to me and let me know they’d sub out the wallet for a tech kit. …
I’m still on the never-ending journey to find the bag—the Grail—and I am clearly not doing a great job at letting go of the ones that aren’t it.
Some of these I love. Some were mistakes. Some I swear multiply in the night.
Not really selling (yet), not really flexing—just sharing with people who probably know this particular brand of pain.
If you’ve found your Grail bag, tell me what worked for you. I’m currently leaning towards selling most of this and going with a GoRuck GR1.
Left to right, Bottom up: - Peak Design Everyday Backpack v1 20L – My OG ride-or-die. Backpacked through Europe with this bad boy. Don’t use it anymore, but can’t let go. - Viktos Upscale XL – Bought it thinking I’d EDC a Hellcat Pro. Spoiler: didn’t. - Peak Design Sling – Actually useful, holds 1–2 cameras. The keeper of the bunch. - ThinkTank Shoulder Bag – Might be 30L? 40L? Hell if I know. - ThinkTank small sling – Doesn’t get used. Might have guilt-tripped me into buying it. - LTT Commuter …

I just discovered this subreddit as I am preparing for a big trip and needed some packing tips. Wanted to share my one bagging “origin story”.
When I was a teenager, my parents took our family on a month long trip to Europe. This was circa 2007. We visited multiple countries, went on a cruise, hiked, and went to at least one pretty fancy dinner. We were told we were each allowed to bring one backpack for the month. I remember being the only family that walked onto the cruise ship without any luggage, and we got some funny looks from the crew.
Long story short, ever since that trip I’ve been able to pack very lightly and go almost anywhere with one bag. Very grateful to my parents for being one baggers all those years ago!
Happy travels!
As the title mentioned, this is my first time traveling with one bag, I would like to say this community inspired me so much! A whole new world opened up to me, with so many posts about different backpacks, packing listst, gear, advice, etc. So as a thank you I would like to show my ideas for the first trip.
Trip details: we will be traveling by train to Italy from 23rd August till 9th September and can do laundry on 31 August.
Main gear: Cotopaxi Allpa 28L and a Susan Bijl bum bag (1.5L)
Used the Indyx app to upload my wardrobe and create outfits for the whole trip. Notice that on traveling days I will be wearing longer pants and my hiking shoes (7 days total).
I‘m planning to do the West Highland Way (Scotland) in mid October. It‘s still a bit to go but I‘m already doing my packing list because I might have to aquire some things.
It‘s gonna be a 9-night trip of which are 7 nights on the trail in booked accommodations. No camping.
This will be my first ever long distance hiking trip, so I’m open for any suggestions for improvement. Try to keep the bag as light as possible. So far I plan to bring:
Bag(s): - Ortlieb Light Pack (25L, 330g, waterproof!) - Small waterproof cross body bag (to quickly store camera, powerbank eg, still have to aquire it, looking at the „DAY ET Medium No Rain Camera Crossbody Bag but open for suggestions) - Water bladder 2L - Water bottle 0,5L - Packing cubes
Clothing: - Patagonia Torrentshell jacket + trousers - 2x Merino T-Shirt - 1x Merino Longsleeve - 1x Uniqlo Heattech Longsleeve - 1x Light cashmere jumper - 1x technical trousers - 1x lightweight sport shorts - 5x Uniqlo Airism boxer briefs - 2x Uniqlo …
Posted here the other day about how my parents made me a one bagger. Here’s the setup for our upcoming trip.
Patagonia Black Hole 55L duffel with everyone’s clothes, toddler snacks, shoes, toiletries, etc. Old 28L Burton backpack that we always use as carry-on/personal item- this thing just doesn’t quit. And Aer day sling 3 (brand new addition) for airplane essentials and for out and about during the day.
2-week trip to Portugal and Austria for sightseeing and hiking. Left behind some items on the list. Will have a washer available on the 4th and 9th day.
I finally bit the bullet on a travel CPAC, and even though I logically knew the size difference, I am simply stunned seeing it in the bag. For anyone on the fence, I’m now really wishing I’d done this sooner. Here’s my Resmed Airsense 10 bag that I used to pack in my carry on, compared to the Resmed Airmini. Both in the Cotopaxi 50L Adventure Travel pack. It also fits nicely in the top compartment which will serve as my personal item on flights. This is with hoses, mask, and power supply.
Learning how to sew. Made my own custom mirror CPL 16. Was a fun project!
Inspired by u/raydonburi ‘s post a few days ago, i also made the buckle switch on my brand new (delivered yesterday) CIVIC ACCESS SLING 2L - X-PAC.
I was originally planning on switching out to a Fidlock V-Buckle, which I did on 2 of my Mission Workshop bags (Axis & Notch), but after seeing u/raydonburi ‘s post, I decided to go with Cobra, and I’m super stoked on the result!
Process (If anyone cares lol) - First had to decide on which buckle to use: Silver Cobra, Black Cobra, Black Fidlock V-Buckle. I glanced at all my options laying around my house from old belts and bags I dont use anymore and then I saw my Mission Workshop Arkiv bag with Black Cobra (pictured) and decided that was the look! So I took the black buckle from an old belt and repurposed for this use. I realize cobra buckles are a bit out of fashion, due to weight, and fidlock is the current buckle of the last few years, but i still love a cobra buckle and I have all kinds of fidlock bags so cobra was the choice! …
After a lot of debating and going back and forth between the ctb20 and the cpl24, i finally got the waxed canvas ctb20 and i love it. Back digging wasnt a problem for me on the ctb26 but the straps would always pinch and were uncomfortable. The ctb20 has none of those problems for me and it looks amazing in waxed canvas. I have it PACKED so its definitely not light, and the straps still feel really soft and comfortable. (That might be a waxed canvas thing though and not just a ctb20 thing) Also for what its worth, i wore it on a 10 minute walk to the park in 103° heat with no cloud coverage overhead (pic for proof). Im naturally a really hot person and even with it being waxed canvas my back wasnt sweaty wet. I could definitely feel it starting to get warm, any longer and im sure i wouldve been sweaty. Im sure the regular version would last a little longer before making me sweat but 10 minutes when its that hot out without sweat is good to me.
So I’ve recently gotten into the Evergoods CAPs, and so far I’m happy. I’m not new to the pouch life so I feel like I have a fair basis for comparison.
That said, first minor complaint with the CAP2 was the tightness of the upper grab handle, which at times I had to fiddle with to grab. Solved with a quick paracord wrap. Super easy to grab now without a second thought.
Second, I often put the CAP2 vertically into a bag. When doing so, there’s not really anything to grab on the ends and VX42 is pretty slick. Threw a grab strap I had leftover from another item on it and now its always easy to snatch out of a bag no matter which way it’s in there.
On a side note, is th3 X-Pac CAP1 worth snagging to be all matchy matchy?
I’ve been running the MPL22 daily since its release a couple years ago. The other day I noticed the bottom of the right strap was starting to tear. The weird part is that I’m a lefty and usually use the left strap if I carry the bag with one shoulder. The rest of the bag is still in great condition.
Anyway, I reached out to Evergoods to see what they thought. They had me send in some pictures, and without even asking for it, they sent another bag for free! And the best part, I get to keep the old one! (Which is now my gym bag for as long as the strap stays together)
