Picked up a Goruck GR1 26L Dark Oak Heritage last year and was blown away by how comfortable and well-built it is. After way too many hours lurking on this sub (I blame all of you 😅), I finally sold off a few other bags and grabbed an M23 21L and a 32L Kit Bag in matching Dark Oak.
Super satisfying to have the set — feels like I’ve finally found my perfect combo (at least for now, lol).
GR1: EDC M23: Dad bag Kit Bag: Gym / Basketball / Travel Thanks for all the inspiration (and the hit to my wallet)!
Evergoods Civil Access Pouch 2L. Black/Coyote
Very happy with this bag so far. Just going through the process now of seeing what I want in it and how I want it packed. There’s still a lot of room to work with.
The only concern initially is how much work it takes to open the big wrap-around zipper. It’s not a quick process by any means, but I’m sure that will get smoother with use.
I find it funny watching YouTubers telling me that I need to pack light, leave stuff behind, carry one bag… But then, in the same breath tell me a ‘must have’ is a stand for watching my phone, a tripod for taking selfies because holding a phone apparently doesn’t suffice, or bring a caribener that doubles as a hook so I can suspend my 40L rucksack from a cafe table…
I know it’s good to have interests and to get into products. But there’s so much shite talked on YouTube, it’s hilarious.
Thanks for attending my TedTalk. I’ll be selling 100ml water bottles at reception…
I thought I would share my dad carry for me and my 2 year old son for a full day out of the house about an hour away from home.
I recently found this Nitecore BP29 Pro on eBay at a discounted price and had really been eyeing trying one out.
The front pocket has been great for keeping most of my son’s needs. The tablet sleeve holds 6 diapers (stacked in 3’s), the horizontal overlapping pockets hold snacks, pouches, and placemats. The zippered mesh pockets holds diaper bags, extra snacks, and a zippo case with Leatherman bits that I need to move.
Other than that, main compartment holds my water bottle, my son’s empty cup, an extra shirt for me in the very bottom, a no name pouch with a spare change of clothes and sandals for him, an Alpaka Toiletry with some deodorant, small bath soap for the gremlin, other odds and ends, followed by the newest edition, a Tom Bihn Sidekick.
The Tom Bihn sidekick is for redundancy; it has 2 diapers, wipes, fruit pouch, snack, battery bank, bandaids, …
Similar to the old glossy MLC 26l. One external front pocket similar to black hole 25l backpack.
Fits about 75% of the capacity of the current MLC Mini.
This week’s carry is the Timbuk2 Parkside 2.0. I originally bought this bag in black for $99 but returned it as I wasn’t completely sold on it. When I saw the Navy version on eBay for $18 I snagged it quick! I swapped out the black zipper pulls for orange to add a bit of color and to match my water bottle and HeroClip.
It’s a nice budget friendly option. The exterior nylon feels durable enough to hold up to everyday use, but the interior lining fabric could be better as the pockets feel a little floppy. The harness does the job for a 20L bag but the straps can dig a little under a heavy load.
The three front organization pockets are great. The top left is for my keys and multi-tool and the bottom left fits my AirPods and a battery bank. The right side I use as a dump pouch for bits and bobs picked up throughout the day.
The admin pocket is home to my snack pouch, notebook, pens, pocket knife, first aid kit and meds pouch.
The main compartment is pretty spacious and fits a light …
Okay so, survived the trip so here’s the recap/gear review. (Apologies in advance for the messy formatting)
Me and my girlfriend went to Greece (Island hopping & Athens), France (Paris, Normandie & Nice/Monaco), Italy (Rome & Surrounds). This was purely for a nice holiday however due to some unfortunate circumstances the month before we left, I had to work during the trip which thankfully due to the nature of my work (Freelance DOP & social media manager) I was able to do. This meant I had to take a little more tech than I wanted too but wasn’t much of a hassle. We stayed entirely in hotels & airbnbs for this trip, moving around a fair bit especially on the Greek islands. Our average stay was 4 nights per location. Our longest was 10 days in Milos and 10 Days in Nice. Our shortest was about 8 hrs (Basically a hotel to sleep in for the night).
We both took a similar setup, 1 backpack, one smaller bag and that’s all. This was my first time one bagging. Due to the …
I got a new Patagonia Micro MLC yesterday and I’m going to share some initial notes.
This bag is similar to the old Patagonia Tres. It feels about 20% smaller than the MLC Mini. I don’t think the official numbers are out but it’s about 25l or 26l. It’s got a large front pocket that covers the front section of the bag that easily swallows a 32L water bottle.
I packed it with a Thule organizer, a toiletry kit, and 14” MBP and electronics cords. In the Thule are 2 pants, 4 shirts, socks and underwear and a pair of shorts, and a fleece jacket.
Getting ready for the month of August in Southern Europe. I’ll be taking the train, living at hostels, and couch surfing with my backpack. I land in Barcelona, make my way across France and Italy, which I’ll end up in south of.
Below is a list of everything that I’m bringing, please let me know if there’s anything I should add or if there’s something that I’m bringing that I don’t need to. This is my first time leaving home (usa) and I’m very open to advice.

Well Ill trust it when it actually happens but looks like we are back on track to remove the 100ml requirements for airports with the right gear in Europe!!! https://simpleflying.com/eu-airports-ditch-100ml-hand-baggage-restrictions/
Literally the only reason for not one bagging! Although now one may need to start paying attention to weight lol (those pesky wine bottles weigh a tonne).
What do you guys think? How would it influence your experience?
*crossing fingers as my local airport had already started when the EU decided to re-implement the 100ml rule and boy oh boy were people annoyed
As the photos illustrate, the backpack worked great! It was full to the brim - but it was big enough. I will be taking it on future journeys when I don’t want to be burdened by rolling luggage. Thanks for the recommendation r/Onebag! (I only wish it had a few more little pockets.)
Honestly, I don’t get to use the clip too often, but when I do, it sure has come in handy. Suspended above Emerald Lake in Rocky Mountain national park. Ft. Matador beast 18L
I’m moving from CTB26 to CTB20, because i realized that internal capacity of CTB20 is enough for me, and also some stuff can be attached/carried outside
I have the 1L pouch and the 2L pouch. The larger pouch is a legend and I’m going to buy a second one. It normally has cables, a folding prong charging plug, earbuds, a small torch etc. It’s currently moonlighting as a first aid kit…
But I’ve never used the 1L pouch because I just don’t know what it’s for, or why I bought it😂. It’s not got the heft for a charging plug, and my phone/wallet/passport just goes in the existing rucksack pockets…
So what do people actually use it for in real life? I’d love to hear your examples.
Thank you
My second version of the famous CAP1!
I am trying to sell but buyer wants to know what version it is. I have no idea
