So, the wife gives me grief about all my bags (ill have to follow another post for that), but when I see a deal too good to pass up, well… she can be mad 😅
Had some free time last night at the thrift store, and ran across this bag. Truth be told, I didn’t know the brand, and was about to put it back when I found the little blue carabiner with the logo. Did some googling.. and then I couldn’t pay fast enough.
Ill be honest and say white isn’t really my color, but I’m willing to give it a try. Never had a bag like this one, so I am curious how it will work out. It certainly is unique!
The current state of the collection (minus a few that are kept in the garage)
My wife counted them up once (while trying to make a point, obvs) and she said there was 160. I, of course, dispute this, as that would make me a madman 😬
Favourite of all time is the Arcteryx LEAF Courier 15 messenger
Most aesthetically pleasing (to me) is the PDW S.H.A.D.O Gen 1 (just a shame it wasn’t a particularly practical pack)
Most adaptable - Alpha One Niner Evade 1.5
I picked up the Mojave Bravo Sling Max to go with the Mojave editions of Elements Backpack Pro and Elements Travel Backpack from Alpaka. The Elements Pro is my EDC and the Travel is my weekender. Not sure yet how I will work in the Bravo Sling Max, but it holds my 14” Macbook Pro so it is probably more Messenger than Sling.
Im a big fan of Alpaka bags, as you can see here. I wear the hat everyday, use the elements backpack as my daily work carry, just got the flow satchel, and use the travel backpack on every trip. Any other Alpaka fans? Ive been lookong for Alpaka stickers but can’t find them anywhere.
Used my trusty North Face for a couple of years now. Felt it was time to try something new. Small Cafe Bag.

I was stopped at Australian customs / quarantine yesterday, as an Australian citizen holding an Aussie passport, because I “didn’t have any luggage”. The lady in question asked me if I’d forgotten my luggage, I clarified that I hadn’t, she asked me how long I’d been away, I said 6 weeks, she asked me where my luggage was and I patted my backpack, then she said “I’m trying to understand how you don’t have any luggage”…
I’m not quite as hardcore as some on this sub, I have a 36L backpack with enough clothes for a week and a bit - allowing me to minimise laundry on long trips. Admittedly it’s not a huge case like most were struggling with but it’s not “no luggage” either.
I was aware that this could quickly ruin my morning so I just smiled and said nothing. Then she said “You spent most of your trip in the UK, do you have all your clothes there?”. I don’t have any more …
I’m in Greece and my aunt told me to not bring too much, but I didn’t want to hear it. I just know I needed 2 weeks of clothes and no tf I didn’t. You honestly need 4-5 outfits that’s it
Well a hard head, will make a soft ass
I want to shop and although I have, ugh I should have left a lot of things home and maybe brought a backpack and an empty carry on when buying items
Anyways, don’t be like me. First time traveling like this, but next time, I’ll do better
I need not tell the frequent reader of r/onebag how long one can deliberate over what bag to buy for an upcoming trip. All the hemming and hawing one does to make sure they have the ideal bag for their upcoming trip, we’ve all been there. Indeed, we have all be in the unenviable situation of not having the right bag for a trip, or not knowing which of our bags we should take on an upcoming weekend away. Its nearly enough to make a snoo loose focus on the fact that this is all supposed to be about immersing ourselves in our destination and not focus on the logistics. Well, as luck would have it I have been saved from the burdens of this deliberation by the events of today and my good fortune dropping a wonderful bag in my lap.
My GF had cleaned her apartment recently and this resulted in several bags of stuff to take to the second hand store. Now, an unintended consequence of letting the 2 of us loose in a second hand store is that we wind up bringing 2 bags of stuff back, but I guess …
9 day germany & austria vacation in a rimowa pilot case:
toiletries bag, toothbrush, deodorant, small cologne, toothpaste
2 electronics bags, one small for headphones and chargers and one larger one with a beard trimmer, light and a dock with hdmi cable, something i should stop. bringing since in 2 years of travel i only used it once to connect to hotel tv.
2 cubes of clothing: 4 socks, 3 shirts, 2 tshirts, arcteryx lt? jacket, swim shorts, convertible rei pants, 4 underwear. been doing laundry in a hotel and drying on a hot towel rack so def could go lighter.
camera, forcing myself to take more pics, but def a luxury item.
op1 field, cuz it’s fun.
flip flows for hotel and pools.
fanny pack + frost river shell bag for day trips.
work laptop, needed it for a few things that i couldn’t do on the phone, but usually never bring a laptop.
set of clothes, shorts and sneakers and another arcteryx fleece that i’m wearing for travel.
yes it’s heavy, but …
1- Adding comfy flip flops for end of day or early morning is a genius. 2- My most recent trip involved four hotel changes in 10 days. Genius tip: one compression cube for outer clothes, and four different small bags for (1) bathroom including a door hook and morning meds, (2) bedside bag with all chargers, night meds, jewelry (3) socks/underwear (4) extra less used stuff (left in suitcase). This arrangement let me pack up and unpack in a new room almost instantly. The rest of the stuff(jacket, second shoes, souvenirs, etc) were typically not unpacked until needed and made up the bottom layer. (4) These bags for smaller items - they hook together or up with a carabiner and are see through yet colored for different items. https://a.co/d/fsnPs2s (5) The recyclable Starbucks cup is perfect for its near zero weight - bulky in the suitcase and doesn’t seal but worth it for morning train and bus rides! When I finish my coffee, I slip into a ziplock after drying out w a napkin until …
Hi all,
I (28M) am leaving for a 7-months solo trip across South America next week, so i thought a would post my full loadout here.
For a bit of context :
My main bag is the Patagonia MLC 30, to which i added carabiners and a net so i can tuck away a wet towel, raincoat or fleece.
I did not limit myself to strictly one bag, as i also have a Uniqlo sling and a packable Decathlon bag. The idea is that the sling can carry my water bottle and valuables when i am just exploring a city, while the decathlon bag can be …
Swapped my zipper pulls to make it easier to differentiate between pockets. Orange for laptops, black for basic carry-all pockets, gray for top pocket. Also added one of the silver reflective patches from Alpinehound.
Posting because nobody I know cares as much about bags and customization as I do, lol.
I guess I’m ready for a short 3-day trip with my CPL 24. There’s still a little room at the top of the main compartment, where I’m going to put my 16oz water bottle — life is good.
Planning to upgrade this v1 soon.but ive got to wait until i find a 38mm fidlock v bucke and a loop panel thats wide enough.i plan to swap the strap for a removable one ended quick release one while retaining the strap width.adding a loop panel for a shoulder pad i have to anchor on to on.bot sides of the wing pieces, ghooks for the jacket tunnel or whatever the name is..maybe a mesh pocket for glasses under the big pocket flap and as for a grab handle im not sure where ill put one yet. This will be the 4th sling ive modded for comfort and ease of use and maybe my 8th or so bag
I’m stuck between CPL 16, or CTB 20.
Im 5’ 8”. I’m a profesional private jet corporate pilot. So i travel a lot, but I’m almost never in airline terminals… often travel with the PAKT duffel and a 5.11 backpack my EDC. Unless I’m going on a 4-7 day trip I don’t need a wheeled carryon Rollaboard.
So I trade out between a duffel, and a wheeled carryon size rollaboard depending on the trip.
I don’t care either way about an external water bottle pocket, but the luggage strap on the CTB would be nice from time to time…. I almost never one bag. My backpack ends up being my flight bag.
Mostly my pack out is laptop, iPad, chargers, flashlight, passport/pilot docs, few snacks, light weight half zip sweater, sometimes water, sunglasses case, chapstick, lotion, advil….
And then when I’m home my flight backpack is my EDC/dad bag. So EDC plus couple of extra iPads for kids and snacks.
Which bag makes sense? I’m leaning towards the CPL 16. I have a 24L that I feel like has plenty of empty space …
Hey everyone,
I’m considering the MLP 30 and have a few questions. In some videos the bottom looks pointy, like it can’t stand on its own. Owners: • How is the base actually built — firm or padded like the CHZ 22⁄26? • Does the tip rest on the aluminum frame? • Anyone tried bending the frame so it stands better?
Also, would you recommend it as an all-arounder (travel, work, EDC)? I’m a bit concerned about the 420d fabric since I’ve heard it feels flimsy compared to the 840d on my CHZ 26, which I really like.
Thanks for your insights!
