Just here to remind yall to give those controllers a good scrub :)
Hi everyone, I’m from Germany and I am planning to buy a controller for the first time and I have absolutly no experience in them whatsoever.
What I will be using it for
PC: - I mainly use Steam and offline emulators to play (ps3, ps4, xbox). I want to use it on games such as God of war, for honor, rainbow six siege, etc…
Android: I have a poco x7 pro and I will be mainly using it also on emulators, Minecraft, and if there are other games that can support it
I’m looking for a controller that costs around 40-60 Euros and I’m currently eyeing 3 options:
40€: 1. 8BitDo Ultimate 2 2. Gamesir Cyclone 2 pro
60€: 3. Flydigi Vader 4 pro
Thank you in advance and I apologize about any missing information due to my lack of knowledge.
Hey, just wanted to post this review, maybe it will help someone to pick the controller they want. Bought it from official 8BitDo Ali page for $45 (during Back to school sale). I have no relationships with the company or its competitors, also no commercial interest in making this review.
I. Disclaimer: I don’t have much experience with different controllers, only had x360 replicas and ds3 originals before. So bear that in mind, I can’t compare this controller to modern top tier ones.
II. Positives (best to meh):
- Texture -
The best plastic texture I’ve seen on a controller. It’s matte with a slightly rough, grippy finish, so both smooth and not smooth, hard to explain, but it feels great. The back side has a rougher finish. My hands also don’t sweat as much with this one, probably because of that. It also doesn’t get dirty like… at all? You can see it on the photo I guess, it looks exactly the same as when I bought it, after 30 days of …
Swapped LiveZone 3 sticks, pricey but they feel really comfortable and grippy.
It was a fun couple of weekends, but got these two projects done! GuliKit’s new NS55 Tension Adjustable TMR joysticks installed in both an Xbox X/S and DualSense Edge controllers. Installing the sticks in the XSX controller was… Interesting. But not impossible.
Xbox Controller Mods:
I have been into EDC gears, bags and other travel tools since I can remember and I just discovered Porter Yoshida last year. After having so many bags from other brands throughout the years, I finally found the forever bag and brand in Yoshida. Excellent build quality, very simple, practical, and I think decently priced compared to so many fashion luxury brands out there.
any 90s Timbuk2 messengers still around???
This was kind of a destiny call. I’ve been looking to buy my first premium backpack in the coming weeks/months, I was basically decided to wait for black friday and my number 1 favorite was the Aer CPP2 from Aliexpress, even though the Bellroy Venture Ready Pack was my top contender, I just couldn’t justify spending a 100€ more. Long story short, I got kind of drunk tonight and I really don’t know why but I checked the local Bellroy distributor and wouldn’t you know it, they have a huge sale going on. So I got myself my dream bag for 100€ off. What a day :)
Pros:
It fits anywhere. It meets all the under-seat personal item restrictions I could possibly imagine.
It fits way more than I thought it would. Even with a full-sized water bottle.
It looks good. Sure, that’s subjective, but I appreciate the minimalist look. I just wish it came in more colors, like the sage, in X-Pac. Do I need X-Pac 90% of the time? No, but …
It’s super water-resistant. I went hiking in Ireland through sideways sheets of rain for a couple of hours. Not a drop in the bag. I’d feel confident commuting in this through any weather.
Cons:
I don’t love the sideways pockets in the front compartment. I get that it’s handy when you swing the bag sideways to access things, but I find that smaller objects have escaped their pockets when the bag was upright, so I then have to fish around for them. Infrequent but an annoyance nonetheless. If they must be horizontal, maybe some closures would help.
The key leash is in the dumbest spot and it’s hard to get it out of the …
Not sure how many onebaggers reach their second decade! For better or for worse, nothing has really changed since my post last year, since I have achieved “onebag perfection.” Still, I’ll keep up the tradition of posting here annually
I still live out of the 9 liter Aer bag I’ve had since 2021 (Aer actually updated their website to say it’s 8.5L), and still only own what fits in the bag (plus a few outfit duplicates at my NYC homebase so I don’t need to do laundry as often). More than half of the items I carry have been with me for so long that they’re no longer sold/impossible to restock
Probably more interesting: I just updated the “onebag progression” Google Sheet I shared here a few years back, which tracks everything I’ve owned since 2015. Have any other onebaggers shared lists like this? I was hoping this format would become a thing! It’s such a cool way to track the process!
2025 changes:
My boyfriend of 5 years dumped me. He moved out. I became distraught. I cried all day and took a leave of absence from work. I imagined a life where we traveled together a lot but I guess that’s not happening now.
So tomorrow, I’m taking my first solo 5-week trip to Asia with my one bag. It’ll be my first time going to Asia and I didn’t want to bring the expensive Away luggage he gave me for my birthday. I’ll be going to the biggest cities in Taiwan, Japan, Vietnam, and Thailand. I spent a lot of time doing research and planning this trip so that I can make it work and found the experience healing and I hope I heal further as I go and do things by myself with my one bag and see that I’ll be fine without him. This is what I have so far:
Front Top Pocket
Front Bottom Pocket …
Which ANC headphones to bring for flights, cafés, and coworking spaces is a hot topic; lots of good offerings out there these days. I’ve been down that road too, but as a frugal “onebag” traveler flying personal item only, after switching to Etymotic ER2XR in-ear monitors, I don’t think I’ll go back to over-ear ANC cans.
Here’s why they work so well for travel:
Trip went pretty well! Unfortunately had to layer the jackets and some clothes for the flight back because I didn’t anticipate how much space the plates would take up, but that didn’t make my flight back uncomfortable.
Pretty happy I didn’t have to deal with any additional carry-ons or checked bags, plus I was able to get everything I wanted souvenir-wise. Didn’t end up using the bags built-in charger cable at all. Backpack pictures show the backpack fully packed
Bag: Aerolite 18x14x9 (BPMAX903-1814-BLACK-SINGLE)
Everything I took on the flight:
I only tested Air Canada and WestJet, but the Porter and Flair sizers were very similar, if not identical. This was at YYZ.
This is the unexpanded Osprey 26+6 with a laptop inside (not sure if this matters or not).
Porter at YOW did not make me use the sizer for my basic fare ticket when I picked up my boarding pass at the counter 🙏🏻
I have seen a lot of people here say that they leave space to buy some souvenirs. I wanted to share what I do because it might help some people here who struggle with trying to save room for souvenirs.
In every city I visit, I buy a postcard. I usually throw them in my laptop sleeve for protection. When you buy postcards they will usually offer you a small paper bag to protect them, so I will keep one of those bags to protect all of the postcards from my laptop going in and out of the sleeve multiple times.
What do I do with these postcards? I will have a picture frame made for all of the postcards I collect on each trip. I would rather have my postcards displayed prominently on a wall than buy some souvenir that I shove into a drawer and never see again, or buy a shirt that I will eventually outgrow or get stained.
Postcards are the perfect one-bag souvenir solution because:
My first MPL22 and I absolutely love my pink backpack. 😇
Drinking the koolaid.
Decided to switch it up from my peak design everyday backpack that I’ve been using for the better part of decade or so. Got a CTB20 and really enjoying the organization and how much this 20L actually holds. Thinking of getting a CTB26 for some one-bag travel but going to sleep on it. This post is really just an excuse to post my patch!
First trip with my new Kludde — hiked Mount Asahidake in Hokkaido, the carry felt great.
Also loving the Civic Flat Pouch in Electric Coral
Eyeing for an MPL22 for a while after tried my friend’s (not sure eco or standard). It is very lightweight and comfortable. Then I took this chance and got a kludde one.
My CAS2 XPac and CFP Kludde edition
Looking at that beauti blended with nature
TL;DR: EVERGOODS and CARRYOLOGY hyped the Electric Coral Civic Flat Pouch as a “limited” 300-unit run and priced it $20 higher, creating artificial scarcity that drove a fast sellout. A week later, they opened pre-orders with many more Coral units (still available to pre-order 24 hours later) still at the higher price, suggesting it wasn’t truly limited. Clever marketing got them extra profit and goodwill for restocking, but risks losing customer trust since the “limited” premium turned out to be misleading.
I find that EVERGOODS has used quite a unique marketing technique for the Electric Coral Civic Flat Pouch. They released the CIVIC Flat Pouch with a $20 markup ($55 versus $35 for the blue color) stating that “Note: Only 300 of the Electric Coral color were produced.” A CARRYOLOGY Representative stated that the higher price was due to the higher cost of the material and that it is more “Limited”. That artificial scarcity led to the item being sold out in …
