My absolute favorite controller ever, and it went out of production awhile back, so I was shocked when I saw this on the shelf at my local Walmart! Hesitated for a bit but then I remembered how much I love my original, but also how worn it’s starting to get. I mainly use it on PC these days but still have a PS4 Pro as well, which is when it also hit me, that you can ONLY use a DS4 on a PS4. Unlike the other PlayStations that have some form of controller backwards compatibility
I have 1000s of hours on my original and it’s been apart and cleaned multiple times. The right stick has a tiny tiny bit of stick drift but nothing that makes it unplayable, figured that this is probably one of the last opportunities I’d have to score a brand new in box DS4 for MSRP. How cool! I feel lucky!
I think it looks useful and you could always just use a ring on the moving face buttons to fix them.
Maybe it was prone to failiure or was too expensive to produce, but even then they could have improved on it.
Just thought I would show everyone the controller I have been using for 100’s of hours of both PC and retro gaming. The D pad and buttons are touch sensitive. This is the only controller that exists that is touch sensitive, and the last controller that I believe was touch sensitive was the turbo touch 360 from the 90’s.
I was searching for a touch controller for a while and was surprised nothing existed. Then to my luck, I found that Infineon put out an evaluation touch controller, almost exactly what I was looking for. I quickly purchased it online from mouser and have been using it ever since as my main gaming controller. This is my personal review of their evaluation controller, which are sold in what seems to be extremely limited numbers.
First, this is an evaluation controller, it is meant to test the buttons and advanced features of Infineon hardware like the touch buttons and the axis, and not really meant for gaming, but it will work just fine in games. I use the …
Made this one inspired by MASTER-PIECE’s Ballistic Nylon Belt Bag. . I used lambskin for the exterior and canvas fabric for the interior. . I made the pattern myself by looking at photos of the original bag online
I’m loving this sling.
I was looking for a smaller cross-body that could accommodate a full size water bottle. The Alpaka Flow 4L fits the bill exactly- the water bottle pocket is expandable (my Takeya 22oz fits with it zipped up) and there’s a elastic loop to prevent it from falling out.
It can fit my lunch and snacks (note those are the mini 7.5oz soda cans, not 12oz), various EDC, a Davek Mini umbrella (buried on the bottom), etc.
Good organization, but not too much. Good size left for the main compartment (though you will lose a little to the water bottle pocket pushing in), able to stand on the base, ripstop nylon, waterproof zippers. It has padding that’s just right, and it gives the bag a degree of insulation.
The strap is thin and connects via MagLock2. Maybe I’ll replace it or look for a pad, as it’s a little uncomfortable when the bag is fully loaded with a water bottle.
Very pleased with the quality and anesthetics for around $100.
I bought it for a remarkable tablet but it barely fits my 12.9” iPad pro which is nice. I added colored zipper pulls and some pins. The zippers are not super heavy duty, but it cost $13.
Just received the bag and found that they quietly changed the grey lining shown on the website picture (second pic) to the creamy yellow that matches the rest of the bag (coyote brown X-Pac) . Appreciate the change! Hope the blue X-Pac has the new colour update as well.
PS: others might dislike the discrepancy so I hope they can inform buyers more accurately btw.
Osprey 26+6 the PERFECT personal item (frontier)
I’ve spent the last few weeks doing extensive research on bags. Been looking for the BEST bag that fits under Frontier’s strict personal item requirements. I’ve surfed this sub several times and watched hours of reviews. ALOT of GREAT bags fit in this category but THIS bag I feel is the best.
I have mixed feelings with Osprey, I liked the old logo and cant stand this new age, arteryx-esque logo. Papyrus ass font with a big gap and some native techy looking bird. Looks like an engravement I have on one of my childhoods Bibles back home. Frankly I thought this bag was UGLY. Limited pockets, just a big ass opening like a suitcase basically… and then that eyesore of a logo. I was super hesitant to cop this bag cause I wanted one of the Sleeker $300 AERs or Mystery Ranches.
BUT what turns me away from a lot of those are the WEIGHT.
Hello One Baggers — long-time lurker, first-time poster.
Thought I’d give it a go! Expecting a lot of critique, but here goes nothing. This was everything I packed for a four-month trip from Kerala (southern India) to Pokhara (central Nepal).
It’s good context to know that a big portion of this trip was travelled by motorbike, and that there were huge weather shifts as I travelled from 30°C+ beaches to sub-zero, snow-topped mountains.
I also think it’s good context to mention that I lean towards buy-well, buy-once rather than latest trends, and my interests are pretty tactile (leather journal + analog photography) which certainly add weight, but that’s who I am. Sue me. Plus, the laptop had to be brought along as I’m a freelancer.
The only thing not included was that I had to pick up some thick thermals on the bike trip, as it got incredibly cold towards Manali/Leh.
Keen to hear your thoughts
Full packing list below.
The actual lightest travelers are the Buddhist monks who only carry a begging bowl and a spoon. But the second lightest I met was a German guy in the Riau islands between Singapore and Sumatra. He had a tiny bag like a fanny pack. I asked to see what was in it. A sarong and a toothbrush. He wears the sarong while washing his one set of clothing. He also had a few things in his pockets, like his passport and a pocket knife. That’s it.
I can’t quite go that light. But I did vow to never exceed 20L, and have mostly kept to that.
Hi all! This is my first time posting here. I’ve been visiting the sub frequently for the past few years—2 years ago I was a must-bring-checked luggage person, and now since I’ve lived in Europe for a bit I decided to take one bagging seriously so that I could take flights without paying for extra bags. I’ve been using an Osprey Porter 30 for the most part but after a bad experience with getting caught on an easyJet flight I decided to attempt to make do with a Kanken and it’s been quite successful!
Somehow I managed to fit everything I needed and also brought back a good amount of souvenirs. I’m honestly shocked that it worked, especially because I impulsively picked up a box of 4 pastel de nata the morning of my flight and just barely squished the box in. Side note, there was a really satisfying moment when my hostel roommate (who was Swiss) asked me where my bag was, and I pointed to the Kanken and her eyes went wide, LOL. “You’re only …
Just curious how often, if ever, this happens and if there’s any commonality in the bag or types of ‘ordinary’ bags that pass this sort of unplanned test. Or perhaps my entire hypothetical premise is nothing but a pipe dream. Lemme know.
I mean I assume not, but from most of the onebag loadouts I see there’s rarely a mention of sleepwear and I couldn’t find many posts on it.
Folks that travel South East Asia etc, what are your recommended pyjamas, or general nightwear?
I often use cotton at home but sleep investigated and boxers away, tried merino but found it hot.
This very late follow up on my packing post for my UK trip. I spent 12 nights in Scotland and 1 night in London in a solo trip.
Places I visited:
Arrival in London -> Edinburgh -> Inverness -> Urquhart -> Fort William -> Glasgow -> Stirling -> Linlithgow -> Edinburgh -> London
I had a great time! The whole trip (including airplane tickets from South America to London, food, transportation and lodging, but not including gifts and souvenirs) cost me just over 2800 USD. This budget meant I was staying in hostels and exclusively using public transportation. I did everything by train (which were all great!) with the occasional bus. I still até out at restaurants and got nice coffee every single day, with the occasional meal deal from UK’s grocery stores.
The bag
The Decathlon Quechua Escape NH500 rolltop 23L is my everyday work bag. It worked great for the beginning of my trip, but got a bit uncomfortable on long walks by the end as it was quite …
Satisfying fit of tp8 and tp10 in ctb26, sadly I needed more space for 2 cas 2l. It does fit tho it was quite tight and I needed a bit more space.
Traveling to Torreón today, had to bring some gifts for the sales reps of the client and felt the TD35 looked better than the tote I usually use for this. The X-Pac CPL24 is also one of my favorites, back in 2023 they couldn’t miss
I’ve looked around online, just looking to either attach a basic flat pouch. If anyone has found something that works, or has a creative use for those loops, please share!
Hi all,
I have recently settled on buying the CPL24 in waxed canvas, which is due to be delivered this week.
It was between the CPL24 and the CTB20, as the only bags with suitable volume and clamshell access, with the decision ultimately coming down to aesthetic concerns that the CTB looks too much like a turtle-shell, and would ultimately be replaced or unused.
I am now just reviewing some posts in this subreddit from dads speaking from experience, and the overwhelming sentiment is that water bottle holders are essential. I feel some regret that I’ve made an impractical decision, and have chosen form over function.
The question I have for parents: Can a clamshell with no bottle pockets (CPL) work with appropriate organisation? Or is this functionally a mis-match with the reality of parenting, and I will regret this decision as I pull apart my bag searching for a diaper and wipes that ordinarily might have been shoved in the side pocket.
Everyone’s opinion is greatly appreciated, …
