This works with my Vader 4 pro, but should theoretically work with Apex and Vader 3 models as well…
I have updated the model to have 2 variations, one that requires a tack of glue to hold in place, and a larger model with self holding clips that latch on to the dock.
I’ve just released my biggest video project yet and it’s about the Steam Controller.
I hope you all like it as it took a very long time to make, it most likely contains something you haven’t seen before.
Accompanying the video I’ve also made a written and freely available disassembly, repair and upgrade guide for the Steam Controller available here: https://steamcontroller.steamdeck.guide
TL;DW:
Disclosure:
Budget: Around £100
Country: UK
Platform: PC
Features: Wireless, Charging dock, A couple of extra buttons on the back would be nice but not a deal breaker
Games: FPS/TPS, Typically Single Player games, no multiplayer
Other Controllers
Dualsense: I can play my PS5 for hours on end with no discomfort
Xbox One: Had no comfort issues with this just needed an upgrade
8bitdo Ultimate: My current controller. In the beginning I could play for hours before any pain or discomfort so it wasn’t a big issue. Lately the pain starts after maybe 25 mins and it’s at the point where I need to change controller. It’s just too small.
I’ve seen the Gamesir G7 Pro and the Cyclone 2 but it’s difficult to get an idea of their size when going by pictures only.
Hey Y’all. Just wanted to share my latest creation, the Acorn Sling! It’s a small capacity crossbody bag, that makes an excellent essentials EDC. Personally my favorite part about using the bag is the really wide zipper opening. It allows me to see and access all my things with minimal rummaging. There are three organizer pockets inside, and a key clip lanyard. on the outside there’s an expandable quick access pocket on the front, and a flat pocket on the back.
The outside of the bag is dry-waxed #10 Canvas with a waxed 10.10oz Ripstop Duck for the outer pockets. The lining is dry-waxed 10.10oz Army Duck, which is tightly woven, giving it a nice smooth hand feel. The bag is fully structured with foam, which ensures that it keeps its shape very nicely empty and full. All metal hardware (except the cord locks) and premium CORDURA Solution Dyed Webbing make for a bag that’s gonna last you a super long time.
I’d love to hear what you think about the design! …
Recently got the Bellroy Venture sling 6L. Well worth the money. Feels high quality, lots of pockets and space, wears comfortably.
So what do you do when you have the best sling on the planet? You release two more sizes, upgrade the fabric, add a handle, and make some more improvements! I have been rocking my 5L and 6L slings for over a week now and I have plenty to share. I am still waiting on my 2.5L sling, which I will review separately.
I’ll start out by saying V1 of this sling was top 2 all time slings for me along with the Evergoods CAS2. Needless to say, I am frickin stoked about V2! The layout is the same as the first version, which is fan f’ing tastic, because it’s the best designed sling ever! For me anyway. I’ll discuss the 5L first. It is dang near the same as v1, so let’s discuss the changes.
First the fabric went from 420d nylon to 840d nylon. These are my favorite two fabrics in the bag world. I will say, I absolutely loved the 420d nylon. So this change is an upgrade for sure, but I like the feel of that 420d a tad more, but the 840d does feel more durable. Again, splitting hairs… Next, we have …
Was wondering about this tote as it seems to have a much better implementation of a magnetic closure and keeps it open than the new Evergoods Tote.
Does it self stand well? Does it hold its structure when it’s empty?
Dear high-end backpack manufacturers,
It’s BreweryRabbit here. Before I get too far into this, thank you for adding to my ever-growing list of obsessions and ‘tisms. I truly did not expect to think about backpacks this much, and yet here I am, thinking about backpacks this much.
My reach into the bag world is still pretty minimal. I’ve tried on some Tom Bihn, I own Bellroy and Aer, and I have scrolled what feels like every bag on the internet.
I love a nice looking and utilitarian bag. While most ‘normal’ people don’t care, I can’t help but assess a pack like Patrick Bateman assessing a business card. “Look at the subtle texture of the X-Pac. The tasteful side handles. Oh my god, it even has metal clasps.”
But for the life of me, when some of these bags cost HUNDREDS of dollars, I cannot understand why NONE OF YOU can make a water bottle pocket that fits a 32-40oz bottle (or larger size bottle in general). And heaven forbid you add TWO pockets. Two! Radical, I know.
Have you not …
Wondering how you guys feel about this yourselves. I have a 17L Everything backpack. It’s perfect for all my needs except on long-haul flights ironically.
I’m usually the first to my seat b/c of airline membership, so I’ll put my bag in the overhead compartment so I can stretch my legs and sleep. But when a flight is full and there might not be enough overhead space, the flight attendants ask me to put my bag under my seat. In economy seats, this means almost no more leg space. More often than not, they won’t let me stack my bag on top of someone else’s in the overhead bin.
Feels penalizing for choosing to bring a smaller bag, while the guy next to me with a full-sized carryon, and a duffel bag that’s definitely larger than the personal item size-limit gets to stretch his legs for the 12 hour flight.
I’m considering checking my bag for this reason alone for long-haul routes.
Edit: A few very salty people fail to comprehend that if I have …
Thanks to u/SeattleHikeBike for making the first 8 first points.
Pack only what you will absolutely use The most important rule of all, but the most difficult one. How do we know what you absolutely need? It is something we learn by experience.
Carry on and hands free if at all possible Prioritize saving time, energy and money by avoiding paying fees and it will be easy to get out of the airport and take other flights/buses if you have your stuff in hand.
Avoid extra shoes Sandals are OK as an alternative or a backup. The oneshoe doesn’t exist but the shoe that will be the most comfy and can be used for most activities will be useful.
Layer your outerwear Puffy and heavy jackets take a lot of space and weight of your backpack. A slim windbreak with a long sleeve heavy cotton shirt will do the same job, be very versatile and easier to carry. A scarf or keffiyeh / shemagh are good too as they have many uses and take little space and weight.

I finally managed to make good photos of a setup that is quite usual for me, even when I go for longer. The longest I went with this backpack and a sling only was a 10-day trip.
This particular setup was packed for a short spontaneous trip to visit my parents, with the journey being 3-4 hour train ride both ways. It’s a wet grey polish fall (from 5 to 12 degrees Celsius), so just one pair of shoes (platform converse) and one city jacket (Uniqlo puffy utility jacket) are enough.
Packing list:

Taking the Osprey 26+6 on a week and a half long trip to Italy then Switzerland. Have done some weekend trips with this bag and love it so far but nothing this long. Will be able to do laundry in Italy so planning on doing that before going to Switzerland. Planning on getting an additional shirt while there. Packing list in comments!
Doing a mad dash to two other Australian cities this weekend (one being much warmer than the other) with my Re Kanken backpack and hip pack. Total weight 4kgs (2.20 pounds) so well under the size and weight requirements for Jetstar.
I decided not to take any entertainment other than my phone for this trip, though I have the space for a book which I may pick up on my travels.
I did have to call ahead and let Jetstar know that I’m traveling with a CPAP machine, unlike what I have been previously told Jetstar counts your CPAP towards your luggage allowance unless you check the device. I’ll have a chat to the gate agent on Friday and confirm in case there are other CPAP users here who travel around Australia.
For Melbourne Wearing: Tan trousers Burnt umber cardigan White tee All birds sneakers Packed: White jumper (just in case the weather changes)
For Sydney Packed: Charcoal skort White tee
General packing: Sock and undies Toiletries Make up and meds Sleep tee Air mini CPAP machine …
Just received my Evergoods Tote and decided to do some tests. Before loading up the bag I poured 32oz of water on the magnetic closure. No leaks, but I did spill the water all over my floor trying to get it off the bag 😂. The lack of zipper on the main opening was one of my primary concerns. I don’t want to carry my electronics if a light shower of rain can penetrate the top. After testing I’m happy, but still wish there was a zipper inside for double protection.
In my pictures you will see the Alpaka Metro Tote, AlphaOneNiner Chio, and my CTB26. When traveling, I usually use the CTB as my primary bag and the Chio or Alpaka for my personal item on the plane. I’m considering the Evergood Tote for my personal item, but I packed it out as my office daily carry and it definitely gets the job done. I was surprised that it really isn’t much larger looking than the Alpaka Metro. The Metro lacks structure and doesn’t stand up on its own like the Evergoods tote, …
I got this for a quite specific use case – it something that would accommodate a laptop, a tablet, a round lunch pail and two flasks, but also fit in my bike basket. All the criticisms I read online were true: it’s heavy and expensive, the zips are stiff and it’s not as comfortable as my hiking backpacks. But goddam, it’s a thing of beauty. I love how it just swallows up everything I throw at it. I took it as my sole bag a three-night break and had room for more, and it was good for walking around town too. Now thinking about getting a CAP2, just because.
Thought I’d share my weekend experiment if anyone else was considering dying their grey 8L packing cube based on the limited color options, or can’t afford the $200+ Ebay listings 😅
I’m currently building out my 26L CTB and decided to include two 8L packing cubes. I wanted each case/pack to be a different color in the bag to make it easy to identify. Currently there are really only the black and grey options on the EG site (the neon orange OMG my eyes! )
I wanted a coyote brown look for one of the bags and went with the Tan Rite Dye hoping in would just add a pop of light brown in combo with the already dark grey. Let’s just say the results exceeded my expectations, somehow one dye bath created a three tone brown, olive green, and keeping some original grey.
The Process:
‼️Important‼️I did notice some slight warping around the zipper due to the heat at first but was able to stretch it back out after a few rinses-you may want to lower the heat during the dye bath.
I did this stove …
As someone who loves Evergoods backpacks, but suffers from the discomfort of the shoulder straps and lower back digging, I’ve been constantly searching for ways to remedy these ailments.
I’ve typically used an old beanie that I’d fold in half and use as a makeshift lumbar support. This lifted the bottom of the bag from my lower back and distributed the weight along my back better than without.
I recently came across an old post on a Tom Bihn forum where they suggested an A30 framesheet for the CPL24. I ended up buying one to test.
The fact you can contour the TB A30 framesheet really sold me. Being able to tailor it to your back and comfort preferences made the impulse impossible to resist. I love a large lumbar hump so I bent the A30 framesheet as such. I can say this has been the best modification to any Evergoods bag I’ve tried.
It now distributes the weight excellently and no more lower back hot spots. And since the TB A30 framesheet is slightly shorter …
I usually travel on quick overnight or 2 day work trips and I’ve always brought my CHZ26 and a roller carryon. Finally nailed down how to pack correctly. Couldn’t be happier, especially on smaller planes like the crj900 where they check all your roller bags
