After my beloved Vader 3 Pro had face button input issues after 1.5 years I wanted to explore a different brand and preferably one that’s available locally. Didn’t go for a G7 Pro even though I really fancied the black color scheme since no turbo/macro and my hands/fingers cramp easily + general laziness to button mash (looking at you deep menus and repetitive actions in JRPGs)
Pretty good initial impressions and I think I like that the extra buttons are next to the triggers instead of having 4 at the back since I am a smol dude with smol hands.
Honestly, the best thing so far is there’s an android app to configure everything. This really helps since I main cachyos and I don’t need to swap to my Windows to update things.
Only caveat to me is how difficult it is to source the charging dock since Aliexpress doesn’t deliver to my country, I’m going to have to use a parcel forwarder.
Can you spot the hidden animal?
Mobapad sent me this controller for review. I’m not affiliated with the company, and they didn’t see this review before I published it. All opinions are my own, and there is no money exchange in the process.
TL;DR:
I compared the official Nintendo Switch 1⁄2 Pro Controller with a third-party Switch Pro Controller from Mobapad. Here’s my take on which one offers better specs, experience and value.
For the Nintendo Switch couch gaming experience on a big screen TV, I think a full size Pro controller does outshine joycons, you just can’t beat the full size and the better grip. Well of course joycons do have their place in certain use cases.
Mobapbad is no stranger to 3rd party Nintendo Switch Controllers. Their Switch 1 M6HD joycons should be their hall of fame and “break out” moment that gain a foot print in 3rd party Nintendo switch controller maker. …
When your girlfriend invites you to a last minute sleepover and says ‘dont forget the wine’!
I can’t be the only person who gets super excited at the airport, checking out all the bags! 💼 lol 😂
The Toshi 2.5 is fantastic.
Really well considered design, every compartment opens wide but keeps things contained, great organisation which uses vertical space well without getting in the way. Having multiple tether points inside the sling is great - nice to see other brands following the Tom Bihn o-ring influence! I attach a mini flashlight to the tether in the back pocket, and hang a mini USB C cable from the one in the main compartment.
I’m not keen on the material - same material as the backpack, it attracts a lot of dust and pet hair, but is easy to wipe off. The zip pulls should be removable and different colours.
The only other negative is the lash straps, they are incredibly fiddly to attach. They can easily be removed if you don’t use them, which also makes the front pocket slightly more flexible.
I wonder there should be one more tether point inside the front pocket so you can attach a thing at each end of the pocket, and if the top quick access pocket should …
I originally ordered an Alpaka Bravo Sling Mini and ended up giving it away to my little brother. It’s a solidly built bag but wasn’t the right bag for me. The material was a bit stiff, the tapering if the bag made putting things inside a challenge. It’s a 2.5L bag but it definitely felt smaller. I honestly didn’t know what size bag I needed because for work or for going around I usually carry around my headphones, my kindle, and a powerbank. With everything inside, I felt like I couldn’t even fit anything else if I needed to put my phone/wallet/sunglasses in.
We ended up going to REI and saw this bag. I had doubts but man I’m impressed. I also learned how important it is to get a bag that has features that you really like. Not only did it fit all the items I had, but I still have room for more things with the same size profile as the Alpaka bag. I love the straps on the bottom that allow me to carry a bottle or umbrella if needed. If I wanted to fit a small game console in here I can …
just realized this recently because it saved me so much sanity and friendships haha but for me its not anything fancy or aesthetic. its a (small) extension cord + multi-USB adapter. It’s somehow bulky to fit inside my bag bcs it takes up space. And yet… it saved lives.
Ive learned the hard way that hotel outlets are never where you want them to be, airport charging stations are chaotic, and “ill just charge later” is a lie we tell ourselves.
Curious what everyone else’s must pack item is so that i can… yk, take notes haha!!
G’day fellow One Baggers!
First off, I want to say a big thanks to everyone in this community. It’s great seeing people share their setups and offer advice, been a huge source of inspiration.
I’m posting in the hope of getting some solid feedback for an upcoming trip, so please don’t hold back, brutal honesty is welcome.
A bit of background:
- I recently spent 3 months backpacking around Southeast Asia using most of this setup.
- This next trip will be 6 months to a year with no fixed end date. The rough plan is to start with a month in the Philippines, travel through more of SEA, spend a month in Nepal trekking the Annapurna Circuit, then onto Central Asia, then who knows where?
- I also own a 30L Decathlon NH Arpenaz 500 pack, which can fit everything listed below. However, the harness system isn’t as comfortable, the hip belt is inferior, and the top-loading design is annoying in hostels. There’s also zero room for extra gear, which could be an issue in Nepal (sleeping bag …
Got a one way ticket to India from the UK for £165.The warmer stuff is mainly for the travel out of the UK, but may end up handy. 4 trains and 3 not huge flights with fairly short 2hr stopovers (need to exit and go back through airport), baggage limit is 3kg and small, so I’m taking a £10 Bordlite Ryanair sized bag. Likely going to fly over to SEA too, not really sure where we will end up!
Done Vietnam & Thailand previously with a 40L bag, but most of it was camera gear, laptop, drone, some motorbike gear etc. it was quite heavy, around 11kg and was one of the factors for cutting the trip a bit short, as I stopped filming stuff and was just carrying around the gear for no reason.

Just got back from my first real winter trip through Vienna, Prague, and Budapest. Coming from Southern California, I had zero cold weather gear and honestly no idea what I was doing. Figured I’d share what worked since packing for snow when you’ve never experienced it is a whole different game.
The bag was my trusty Osprey Farpoint 40 compressed down to about 28L using two medium packing cubes and a small one for electronics. I know, controversial to not use the full space, but I wanted room for souvenirs and the inevitable “oh I need this” purchases.
Clothing was almost entirely thrifted over the past two months. Found a merino base layer at Goodwill for $6, a packable down jacket at a garage sale for $12, and three wool sweaters from estate sales totaling maybe $15. The only new purchase was some Columbias on sale because I wasn’t risking wet feet in freezing temps.
Layering system that actually worked: merino base, fleece mid layer, down jacket, and …
I recently asked for suggestions for a replacement for my Patagonia atom 8L sling and have realized I simply can’t give it up- the depth of the pockets and the location of the zippers mean you can forget to zip it up and walk around for a really long time and nothing falls out.
Does anyone have gear they carry only because it solves a problem unique to them?
I’m about to set off on 3 months around India, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and the Philippines.
This is the first long term onebag trip, previously the max is about 3 weeks.

Just purchased a brand new with tags on evergoods CPL24 ecopak on the second hand market
I picked up a few patches from them a little while ago and am very impressed. Their embroidering is very high quality, nice sticky Velcro, and most of their patches seem to be this 2.25” diameter size, which I think is a perfect fit on the Evergoods patch area.
Thought I’d share a few thoughts about the Element card wallet that I’ve been using for about 3 weeks now.
It’s compact and lightweight as you’d expect. The magnetic closure gives more of a clack than a thud if that makes sense, sounds kinda cheap but is still satisfying.
The rear card slot has the grey PU backing exposed on one side, making it really hard to slide cards out, so I don’t use it (just use two cards in the front slot). Maybe it will “break in” over time, it could also be good for a transit card that you tap without opening the wallet since it’s towards the outside. Though one problem with that is knowing which side of the wallet is which. This is also a problem in general because if you have smaller items in the cargo pocket, they can fall out if that pocket is help upside down. If EG had moved their very subtle logo to the outside that would alleviate the issue, and still look good imo. An external quick access card slot …
Am I the only one who thinks a tote would be great with their standard material instead of the stiff/crinkly XPAC? Yes, I understand it needs to have some structure, but there are other ways to achieve that w/ their standard material. Discuss 🫡
I’ll go in descending order….
Also keep in mind, I’m a corporate pilot and so I travel a lot out of a suitcase and backpack.
I bought the CAP 2 to function as a tech pouch. However it’s really too big for that on a daily basis in my CPL 16, which is what I exclusively carry daily and for travel. I LOVE the pouch’s design and it’s great at home on my desk or night stand, but I haven’t found a use for it on the road yet.
CAP 1 is my EDC/cockpit pouch. It’s AMAZING. It’s my favorite of the 3. I bring it everywhere. It holds sunglasses, chapstick, small multitool, small Kleenex, hand sanitizer, cash, credit card, pen and paper. Sometimes a battery charger. It goes in the front admin pocket of my CPL 16.
Cap .5 I have used two ways… first to hold my glasses, eye drops, contact solution, plus some bandaids, eye glass cleaner, and advil. But then I also tried it as a tech kit. It actually fits my tech kit perfectly.
I can’t figure out how to use that beautiful CAP 2 on the road yet. If I …
