Just wanted to say how impressed I am with this controller. Recently finished a computer build and really needed a decent controller. I was close to getting an Xbox controller when I stumbled across the name 8BitDo on Reddit. I am so glad I did, this thing cost £50, comes with a great docking station and works flawlessly out of the box. First time I switched it on it automatically connected to my PC and I was able to use right out of the box. Feels and looks super premium too. Highly recommended 👍
Model: 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Wireless Controller

I’m currently trying to find a replacement for my Dualshock 4. I want to stay with a symmetrical design and quickly noticed, that I have trouble reaching the shoulder buttons on other controllers.
I wouldn’t say that I have small hands, at least I never felt like it, but on other controllers I can barely reach the shoulder buttons, as the distance is nearly twice as long as the distance on the DS4 (notice the picture)
From an outer shell perspective I’d like something as close as possible to the DS4. It is just really comfortable for me, however other shells are also fine, except 8BitDo. Somehow their controllers are really uncomfortable for me, the lower part that sits in your palm is too small and in a weird angle. It’s just not for me.
Budget: up to roughly 100€. Preferably way less but comfort and features are more important than price
Your country: Germany
Platform compatibility: Windows (Steam)
Desired features: Symmetrical layout, 2.4ghz, TMR or …
Hey guys, just wanted to share a quick and dirty video of Apex gameplay using my own controller design. Made used a pair of joycons mainboards and rewire their buttons in to 3d printed shell
In this design, I tried to improve the ergonomics of a single-hand controller by using a gun-handle style grip. All the buttons are placed around natural finger resting positions (and a few extra), with the goal of supporting gyro aiming as much as possible. =D
Hello. Just got my Vader 5 pro from Ali. Just my luck too ci see them about 20$ cheaper now maybe a price drop right after I buy? Lol oh well.
The issue. The back of my box looks different from the majority I see online and it has a misspelling (no space I’m bottom right writing). EXPERT ‘INCONTROLLER’ MECHANICS

I have a few questions before I buy this controller
- am I able to use macros on it ( can I program the both the joysticks and buttons ) ( officially from an app or somthing )
- is it durable
- is it worth buying?
- I’ll mostly use it for Nintendo games ( mainly pokemon legends za for shiny hunting both afk and manually )
If you guys have any other recommendations please let me know
- I live in Canada
- my budget is 70 cad
- I need to be able to use an app to run macros on it
- and preferably it should be immune to stick drift
Happened across this beauty , tag still on it no scuffs no damage, strap still inside the bag couldn’t believe it. I have been looking for something to throw my journaling kit into, this might be too briefcase but for $35 guess it’s my new daily driver
I’ve spent the past three years building a bag for global travel with my three kids (we do the worldschooling thing, where I combine homeschooling with global travel.)
A bit about the build:
The most important feature I wanted to build was a modular interior organizer that kept things in place. I riffed off of a camera bag functionality, but came up with a mechanism that avoided velcro so nothing got snagged. When I’m using it for a small kid, I use the smaller compartment size to stuff tiny baby clothes in, and for my older kid, I can make bigger compartments to fit his hoodies, etc.
To actually make it, I made some very messy prototypes by sacrificing pre-existing backpacks and using a ton of snaps and glue, then connected with a factory who could build a sample for me. A few years of back-and-forth later, I actually had some workable samples to use during travel. So far, I’m super happy with how well it’s been working for my family.
Feel free to AMA about …
I am not necessarily talking about wild colors like Cotopaxi or Topo. But just having some innovation in the design. I feel like 90% of the bags I see are just dark square clamshell boxes of nylon with straps. Most pockets have the same dimensions and function.
Some brands like Thule and pinqponq have models that at least are trying to make something different with pockets and functionality. I want more of that. Or my old Osprey Flapjack that has a large adjustable flap that covers the whole bag. Fantastic design and easier to expand than a roll top - still no manufacturer has made a similar design.
Am I missing out on some fun bag brands that are rarely talked about?
I’ve had the opportunity to use this bag extensively over the past several weeks. I would consider myself an experienced and frequent traveler with plenty of travel bag experiences. Having just concluded my testing of the Aer Travel Pack 4, the bar for the Outbound was set high.
Where the bag excelled for me is comfort. They used a wire frame supported harness system similar to what you would find in a dedicated trail pack. The back panel hugged my back in a way I’ve only felt from military style harnesses like from Azo Equipment and Mystery Ranch. I carried close to 30lbs in without issue. The load lifters are tied in to that frame so when you engage them, they’re actually “lifting the load” shifting the weight to the upper back. Different from other packs that just tend to bend the bag forward.
Since the bag lacks any padding or frame sheets, it’s incredibly lightweight at 2.4lbs but also means that each pocket has usable volume. What I would pack in my GR3 35L easily fit in the …
Post trip report: Japan Feb/Mar - 3 weeks
This is in relation to my previous packing list post.
Route:
Tokyo - Kinosaki Onsen - Kyoto - Nara - Hiroshima.
Means:
Stayed in hotels and travelled by public transport (Subway, JR & Shinkansen).
Overall impression:
This was an incredible trip: sights, people, transport, stays, food & shopping opportunities. We expected to love Japan but our expectations were surpassed in almost every way.
When planning, we ran into analysis paralysis and were overwhelmed by the opportunities for things to do and see. In the end, we picked one highlight per day and let the rest play out itself.
What worked:
I know this is not exactly a one bag setup, but it’s sort of close. It’s pretty practical and I found lots of inspiration from this sub so I wanted to share here. Pretty passionate about lots of these pieces and am open to any questions or suggestions.

Just a quick report that underpacked Osprey daylite 26 + 6 fit the Flair sizer fine.
Packing list:
Medium size shacke packing cube: 4 sock, 4 underpants, 2 tshirts.
One larger fleece jacket.
Toothpaste, toothbrush, other small personal items.
Small water bottle.
I had to remove the Amazon Paperwhite reader and other stuff from the front pocket, as otherwise it hard to push into the sizer!
Hi all! Planning my first solo trip and have picked up a ton of ideas from this sub already, so thanks for that.
I leave at the end of March and am looking for advice. Everything pictured fits in the bag. Looking for advice on obvious things I should remove, things I might be missing, or general improvements.

I used to do that thing where I’d pat down like four pockets before leaving a hotel room. Phone, wallet, keys, work badge. Every single time. And I’d still manage to leave my wallet on the nightstand at least twice a year.
At some point I just started leaving most of my cards at home when I traveled and keeping one credit card and my ID loose in my phone case. Worked fine but it looked kind of sloppy and cards would shift around.
Few months ago I got an actual cardholder that attaches to the back of my phone. Stupid simple but it just works. Everything I need for a work trip fits right there and I’m down to grabbing one thing when I leave a room. Haven’t left anything behind since.
Probably won’t work for people who carry a ton of cards but for travel it’s kind of a no brainer once you try it.
Last month, I finally completed the French Way. Setting out from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port in France, I trekked all the way to Santiago de Compostela, reaching the cathedral after 34 days on foot.
Whilst on the road, I didn’t want to post my rucksack ahead, so I carried it every single day for those 34 days. Consequently, I had to carefully consider the volume and weight of all my belongings to ensure I could manage the 800km journey comfortably.
What I hadn’t anticipated before setting off was how invaluable and essential that basic toiletries kit proved after such a long trek. Skin issues, oral problems… you never know when they might arise. I would sincerely advise every pilgrim to prepare their toiletries properly.
My toiletries kit was remarkably streamlined:
-electric toothbrush(mini and without charger)
-Soap (for hair, body, and teeth)
-Body lotion(heavy)
-Nail clippers
Found this photo, and the olive definitely looks darker than the renderings. Seeing it next to the black is helpful! I’m pulling the trigger on a CTB26 and CAP2
Made some custom leather patches for my friend, using his company logo! Pretty happy with how they came out!
Taking a little break from my usual waxed canvas this week. Was using X-PAC CPL16 most of the week. Decided to break out the Phoenix today. (Level 8 packing cube, X-PAC w/ Coyote interior CAP 1 & CAP 2. 14” MacBook Pro)
Just got the CPL16, one of my few knocks against Evergoods is their handles. First time trying paracord wrap, y’all think it’s too much red? I think it’s fine but my wife disagrees. Thought I ask a bunch of fellow bag nerds their thoughts? Thanks
Does anyone have any pictures of a waxed canvas bag that has been in use for a while?
Edit:
I no longer believe the price point is unreasonable.
As some of y’all pointed out, most GoRuck bags are not made in the US anymore. For me the unreasonable assumption came from the comparison of another great bag company producing it domestically in the US at a similar price range.
My main issue with Evergoods is that they demand a premium price not just because of a strong product but also due to their production cost. But their factory is in Vietnam. Per-unit cost they should be much more lower giving them bigger margins.
I get it their product their price but still feel like it’s unreasonable.
GoRuck which is in a similar price range is made entirely in the US and has a much more robust lifetime warranty.
I still love their bags and own the CTB 26 but I remember waiting a very long time trying to justify the buy.
Curious to the communities thoughts.
