What is it about bags that gets everyone here going? I guess it’s the design and construction aspect for myself, but really I keep hating on my self because it’s so very superfluous. I feel like a library for my kids, when they go out and need something to carry with them. Then I’m so possessive that I ask them for it back as soon as they get home. The 2-3x a month that I leave my house for work……I always take my filson briefcase and that’s it. Any others have the same issues here 😂.
It seems that Aer City Pack 2 and City Pack Pro 2 are available in Japanese market. They have Ballistic, X-Pack and Ultra version.

Been using this bag for 2 weeks now. Favorite bag by far, love the color and design. Haven’t seen many pics with this color, so here it is.
What’s the most unexpectedly useful item in your onebag setup—something you wouldn’t have packed originally but now wouldn’t travel without?
Why?
Dear one-baggers, please help. I want to go full one-bag travel for my upcoming trip and need a high-quality backpack that meets carry-on size requirements for most airlines. My travel won’t just be through planes but also trains, rental cars, ferries, and airport changes, so I need something versatile and durable.
Ideally, I want a backpack that opens like a suitcase for easy packing but is still comfortable to wear for long periods. Budget is open, so I’m looking for the best option on the market that will last and make travel as hassle-free as possible. What do you recommend?
Title says it all. Hadn’t come across anyone actually cutting it out.
It was relatively easy, just do it carefully with an exacto knife. Get as close to the stitching as possible making sure not to cut into the compression straps or rest of the bag.
Note this weight includes the protective foam and the fabric.
I thought it would weigh more but for me its about the volume. Although it weighs less than a medium t-shirt (150g for a men’s medium poly/cotton blend), the volume imo is 2-3 t-shirts. Which means either more space for clothes or to avoid jamming everything in if I’m packing heavy.
I didn’t want to spend another few hundred on the farpoint 55l AND lose the small top/outer zip pocket. Tough call, it was on my mind for a few weeks before I chose to do it.
Worst part is RIP warranty but I’ll take my chances!
Hello fellow One-Baggers!
I just returned from 3 weeks of travel in Japan during February with the Osprey Farpoint 40+15. Here are some thoughts on the bag and packing list from my previous post linked here.
And a picture of all my souvenirs just for giggles. No Ragrats!
Items I used more than I expected
I did not realize in advance how cold one of my destinations would be. I bought myself another puffy layer at uniqlo in Tokyo. I did not wear it much for the rest of the trip, but it packed down easily and helped fill out the volume of my duffel bag later on
Trader Joes Dark Chocolate (I am from America).! It was a lovely way to say thank you to the people who made my trip special. For example, I gave some to an Inn Keeper who I spent a lot of time with and to a Sake shop worker that I talked with for a long time.
My merino wool …
Ive purchased my first and only WANDRD photography backpack at 350 euros, about 10 years ago. This bag has travelled with me for 3650 days (or 10y), to every continent in the world other than the two poles, it has seen over 30 countries and +100 hostels. Fair to say that the bag has been (over) used.
Eventually, the side zipper got completely destroyed by wear and tear which made my backpack 100% useless.
I contacted the company, asking them to start a repairment process. They replied by saying that I need to show them the purchase ticket otherwise they wont fix my bag. I told them that I puchased it 10y ago and obviously I dont have the ticket anymore. Even if i still had the ticket, the text wouldnt be readable anymore since tickets become blank overtime (especially if its not printed from a real printer but just a receipt). They said that my bag could be a counterfeit.
I told them that their people should be able to see the difference between a counterfeit and their own real bags …
Sadly the news has come that “Trakke” a small uk manufacturer has decided to close down. https://trakke.co.uk they have offered lifetime warranty on their items but obviously this won’t be the case anymore.
It is obviously a shame that a local manufacturer has to close down and people will lose their jobs but this is another warning sign for us customers that lifetime warranty is only for as long as the company is operating and don’t pay too much for it from small companies.
I got this as part of wtf and I can’t seem to find any info on it. It’s a thick shirt/jacket.
A pockets on pockets and yeah more pockets on a vest experiment [#431]. We counted 7 front pockets, 2 inside pockets and 1 on the back. A couple use Block Tapey, three or so have zippers and one’s got a shank. The vest itself is made with the highly breathable Injected Linen fabric and lined with powermesh. We can’t tell you what to carry with this thing but if the pockets are calling you, we’re sure you’ll figure it out.
Do you think Outlier will ever make injected linen pants with a stretchy, drawstring waistband? I think that would be awesome personally. I’ve been looking for some linen pants with a drawstring waistband that are more on the baggy size and only have found one pair/brand but it’s only in two colors.
I absolutely love my New Way Longs, they’re holding up amazingly since new, but issue is I’ve had quite a bit of body composition changes since their original purchase. I touched it out for quite a while, but after a year now, there’s no chance of return, and they’re just so loose.
Given that Outlier seems to be uninterested in a longer shorts option in many years now, I’ve come to ask, what’s people’s best match alternative?
So equivalent look (smart enough for a polo, but could wear them in a pool), with similar physical performance (i.e. durability and ability to quick dry / repel water).

I wear jeans with a 17.5”-18” waistband laid flat. Should I go with a medium or a large?
Do they do well as hiking and camping pants for the summer?
