Best first controller for single player games on PC

Hi! I’ve never had a controller before, and getting one soon to play single player games only, PC only. Starting with Horizon Zero Dawn/Forbidden West and Indiana jones and the Great Circle. Will play other games though too, including some older ones as well as new releases. Which controller is best?

#1: PS5 DualSense. Haptics and adaptive triggers, supposed to be very immersive. But potentiometer sticks and no remappable buttons.

#2: 8BitDo Ultimate 2: TMR sticks and 4 remappable buttons, Xbox layout for compatibility with PC, but not so good haptics and no adaptive triggers.

#3 GameSir Cyclone 2: TMR sticks but only 2 remappable buttons. Dpad I’ve heard described as “mushy”

#4 EasySMX D10: TMR sticks, great Dpad, but only 2 remappable buttons.

Which is best? any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated too! the GameSir G7 Pro is an option but pretty expensive

I bought an Xbox adaptive joystick to replace wasd, with odd results

I’ve been using a controller forever, even on PC, because I hate using keyboard for movement and other buttons.

So, I decided to try this joystick after seeing a few people talk about it online, so I could maybe finally have thumbstick movement and comfortable buttons on my left hand, and a mouse with extra buttons to aim on the right.

The game I primarily wanted to use it on is Marvel Rivals. The problem with that is if you try to use a controller and a mouse, a little “switching devices” notification pops up and a sound plays. This happens every time you hit a button on the opposite device, or move the mouse after touching anything on the joystick.

So, I thought to myself, no big deal, the xbox accessories app lets you customize the buttons of the joystick, I can just rebind them to keyboard keys and off we go. Right?

Update 2: I used to only look at non-Muji pouches, kept being on the hunt for pouches with lots of compartments, water repellent material, etc. But I think in recent times Muji has increased their variety of pouches and the quality is pretty good! Obviously I’ve become a Muji convert. 🫣

Hello! This is Alfred from Nomads Nation, back with a review of the Alpaka Essential Backpack Pro 22L. If this name seems unfamiliar to you, that would be normal as this looks like a new line at Alpaka, but not really! It is essentially the old Aero pack renamed and launched in a new size.

My overall impressions on this backpack are quite positive - it is overall a small-feeling pack, with good ideas on small-item organization, and is comfortable when wearing. The main drawback is that access to the main compartment is compromised somewhat (more below).

It’s been a while since I reviewed a bag ahead of its release date, so this time I got a shorter schedule which is why my thoughts below are based on 7 days of use in the city as an urban EDC backpack.

I’ve been on the search for many moons. My backstory is I’m a pilot. I carry all of these things daily, except for my small dopp kit that is not pictured, the sweatshirt and the packing cube that usually has between one and two nights worth of clothes in it. Everything else comes with me on the daily, and I can’t seem to find a backpack that meets all of my desires. I need your help!

I’m currently using an Osprey Nebula. Overall, it has been decent, but it is just not designed for the constant in and out quick grab an organization.

One thing it does do very well is it carries a lot and it keeps a compact and is very comfortable for lots of travel and hikes. On many of my trips, I will often be doing outdoorsy things if I’m there for a day or two and it works great as a hiking backpack, which I have used many times this is something I desire, but I can also switch backpacks when I have a cool trip coming up. I’d prefer one bag fits all.

I took a 24 hour trip to Chicago a couple of weeks ago and I wanted to travel as light as possible. My free flight left Houston at 6am Saturday and my flight home left Chicago at 6am Sunday. I did not want a hotel since my flight was so early I didn’t want to risk oversleeping. I basically wandered the city taking photos all day and bought a last minute ticket to see the Foo Fighters concert at Soldier Field. Hit a couple of bars after the show and trained it back to the airport and waited for my flight home. I was awake for 27 hours…. I had a blast!

I fell asleep as soon as I took my seat on the plane and didn’t wake up til we touched down back in Houston. I was OUT!

I guess it could be useful if you have another sling and use the sling with the detachable strap as a pouch, but honestly, I’d rather have a dedicated pouch that’s actually designed to be a pouch than use a sling that can also work as one.

First Capsule Wardrobe for 4 Months in Central America — What Would You Change?

I’m putting together my first capsule wardrobe for around 4 months of travel in Central America. My route will take me from Mexico to Costa Rica, so I’ll be crossing different climate zones — from beach days and hot cities to mountain hikes.

I am a 50something yo woman and recently discovered travel again. I was always either a checked bag or carryon person no matter where I went. On my recent travel i decided to test my limit and carry one week’s travel in one personal item bag and iPad only (always carry small Chromebook type laptop). Though I still overpacked believe it or not it was a completely liberating experience I must say! I plan to travel like this going forward though I don’t usually travel for more than a week or so
Osprey Daylite 26+6 vs Decathlon Travel 500 30L

I recently picked up the Travel 500 30L bag from Decathlon and am planning to use it for my next trip to Hongkong and Japan in September. There were some questions in another thread about how it compares to the Osprey 26+6, so I am trying to provide some insights.

I packed clothes for five days. As it is still quite hot in September, summer clothing is enough. Total weight for the Osprey is 6.4 kg and for the Decathlon is 7.0 kg.

Despite having 4l more capacity (30l vs 26l), the Decathlon was pretty much packed full. The Osprey, having no internal compartments is more space efficient and also provides additional 6l when expanded.

While I could carry both bags comfortably, the additional waist belt of the Decathlon will probably be an advantage when walking longer distances. It is also removable when not needed.

I am trying to pack everything for a coming trip to Japan in 1 bag for the first time. While I have learnt alottt about clothing and and toiletries and under garments’ packing here. I am still not sure about accessories (like glasses and sunglasses). My eyesight is pretty bad without my glasses. I cannott see clearly without them so I need to wear them pretty much all the time. If I end up losing or breaking them then Idk how would I even get to the place to get it made and making an order online would take days. I have multiple pairs of them (around 6 to 7) for casual, formal, work, and specific outfit needs (dont judge me I get them for quarter of price online from Firmoo and they have so much variety lol) I am totally okay with wearing one white pair with all outfitts but I just dont wanna freak out if it broke or something. My 2 week review after ROG sent me their Raikiri II Pro PC controller, everything in my review is my own oppinion although I recieved the controller for free. I won’t go over price points and value/money in my review as: A, I’m too lazy to lookup prices. B, prices on all peripherals from mouse-skates to controllers are always going to be region dependent anyways. C, I’m certainly too lazy to create a geo-location accurate pricing sheet for my review.

Comparing to my original Steam Controller (abbrev - SC), and my Xbox Elite S1 controller (abbrev - XC). I also have hyper-hidrosis so my experience with texture and rubber-quality will be from the perspective of someone who’s hands are wetter than a Karen who’s spotted an underpaid cashier.

tldr: My new main controller for Chiv 2, linux users will have to use a windows VM (or the usual black-magic if you’re a power-user-wizard, unlike me) for the best experience with the GearLink browser-software ASUS …
8BitDo Ultimate 3E Review

DISCLAIMER: This controller was sent to my by 8BitDo for free fore review. All the opinions are mine only. No one watched this video before its release.

So, we got Elite 3 before XBox Elite 3 (yes, I saw the leaks, but it is not out yet and we don’t know when it will be) and GTA VI… AND IT IS GREAT!

They finally fixed the shape and made it more comfortable. I like Ultimate 2, but could not use it for long playing sessions, because it hurts my hands.

Also, materials feel VERY PREMIUM. And hence the price - 150$ USD. Premium materials + Microsoft licensing = High price.

But again, it is an Elite version of this controller and XBox Elite 2 cost even more - 180$ USD (or even 200$ USD). But 3E beats it in every category, except for maybe 4 back buttons (but 3E has 2 on the top and 2 on the back, so 4 in total as well).

It genuinely feels like a new generation of 8BitDo controllers.

Whether you want/need one is completely up to you.
Flydigi Apex 6 'Pro' FCC registration: adding linear drive rumble motors

Flydigi have registered an ‘Apex 6 Pro’ controller with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the US. This is separate from the ‘Apex 6’ (non-Pro) that was registered around four weeks earlier.

tl;dr:- The Pro version of the Apex 6 appears to use linear drive rumble motors in the palm grips, which could enable DualSense- or Switch-style haptics. However, the adaptive trigger mechanisms are removed compared to previous Apex models (just like the non-Pro Apex 6).

The Apex 6 Pro seems very similar to the regular Apex 6 (information in this post). That is also very similar to the Apex 5, so I’m not repeating all the details, just highlighting differences:

Materials and Process:

- The “horse” is constructed from wood, and built so it can be easily assembled/disassembled for transport. It’s basically a front and back plate, two diagonal steel ropes for stability, and then all the horizontal wood slats are slotted into the front/back frame with wooden plugs for easy removal. The saddle and saddle girth is essential for keeping the whole thing together and keeping the planks from falling out.

- The saddle has three pressure sensors made of Velostat for legs and seat, and there’s a load cell (like that of an electric kitchen scale) used to detect the reins being pulled.

- the sensors are hooked up to an Arduino clone using a custom-made Printed Circuit Board, and the input is processed through default libraries that came with the sensors and/or standard arduino code.

Ended up getting both and thought some others may enjoy the direct comparison in a few pics. I also haven’t really seen much of the orange 1000D Cordura online in irl pics, so I thought maybe others would like to see that as well.

I’ve decided to keep the CT21 Plus, the extra compartment makes sense for how much I travel, but overall I’m so impressed with this brand and both of these products.

Able Carry Max EDC in the rain

I’ve been using my Max EDC every day for over 3 months now and wanted to share how it looked after walking 20 blocks in hard pouring rain. Obviously this bag does NOT have PU coated zippers - a main factor for why I originally chose this bag, along with X-PAC material.

While you can see how much water seeped into the internal lining in the images (darker tan compared to the lighter-colored, dry tan), my items getting wet in the rain really was not a concern with this bag. I even had my 13” MacBook Air in the laptop compartment and my laptop was completely DRY!

¹⁰⁄₁₀ would walk in the rain again, no concerns.
Uninterested in those carryology collabs. But this…this will do.

Spent a weekend in NYC last weekend and ran the whole thing out of my 20L backpack. Everything in the flat lay fit into the bag with room to spare. Two compression cubes did most of the work.

Clothing (all rolled into two compression cubes):

• 1 pair dark jeans, worn on travel days

• 1 pair of khakis for shows and dinner

• 4 tees in a rotation of neutrals and blues

• 1 light long sleeve for layering

• 3 pairs of socks plus the pair on foot

The compression cubes made 20L feel roomier. I rolled everything, packed both cubes, then cinched them down. They flattened enough that the shoe bag and toiletry pouch dropped right in on top. Here’s a bit of background and context since it’s my first post here:
My wife and I have been traveling 2-3 times a year for the past 20 years. In our early 20s, we traveled with large hiking backpacks for long periods, and later transitioned to typical rolling carry-ons. We (mostly me) are very impatient in airports and hate waiting for luggages.

This is my first time one-bagging. I was able to fit all my belongings into this Aer Travel Pack 4 (28L) for a 15 day trip. I just got the backpack so I’m excited, I ended up also getting the hip belt attachment which I hope will help with the weight

Second picture is all I’m bringing to keep my things charged.

Can’t wait to come back and see what worked and what didn’t.

- 1 Hat
- Pair of Vans Ultrarange (only shoes I’m bringing)

I love the overall design of the MPL22, but I keep thinking a 26–28L version could be the sweet spot.

My ideal version would basically keep what makes the MPL22 great but add:
- Around 28L of capacity
- A larger yoke/top pocket
- The same two front exterior pockets, maybe with a little more organization
- No bulky dedicated laptop compartment
- Keep the lightweight, comfortable MPL harness and outdoorsy feel
Basically, I wouldn’t want it turned into another CTB. I’d want a bigger MPL22 that could handle day hikes, EDC, family/day-trip duty, and even some light travel while staying relatively simple and lightweight.

I feel like there’s a pretty big gap between the MPL22 and EVERGOODS’ more structured travel/EDC bags that something like this could fill.

Would anyone else be interested in an MPL28? And if EVERGOODS made one, what would you want them to add or change?

Perfect 8BitDo Pro 3 D-Pad Upgrade / Fix / Replacement

The 8BitDo Pro 3 is an excellent controller ruined by a poorly thought out D-Pad that generates tons of accidental diagonal inputs due to its poor pivot and elevated switches. Rather than using regular metal contacts under the rubber membrane, it has tactile dome switches, which protrude upwards. The D-Pad’s pivot is not long enough to compensate for this height difference, so you end up actuating left/right when pressing up or down, and up/down when pressing left or right by accident. I did a YouTube review of the controller when I first got it, complaining about how this made playing fighting games impossible.

I was looking at pictures of the plastic D-Pad part online trying to come up with a fix, and I realized it was the same size as the original SNES controller D-Pad, with the exception of the shape of the pivot and these little bits under the 8BitDo’s for pressing on the dome switches. I decided I’d try swapping the D-Pad and buttons, and it COMPLETELY …

So JSAUX has been teasing their new peripherals in their website and discord server so I decided to take a peak.

It seems their lineup includes a full-sized asymmetric gamepad with what looks to be a dock (or extra buttons), a compact asymmetric “mobile” controller with inline shoulder buttons like the ones in handheld emulators, and a backpack-like attachment with extra buttons (and presumably a battery given how thick it is) for what looks to be a Switch 2 Pro Controller (it’s hard to make out but you can see the outline of the grip buttons).

I bought, and have been playing with the first version, since launch. I play exclusively on console.

The Company

Gamesir as a company is actually really great. They are innovative and seemingly have great customer support through their discord (thankfully never had to use it). I also think it’s true to say they popularized Hall Effect thumbsticks.

The Software

The software is fantastic. Literally the best of all controller I have used.

Now onto the negatives.

Ergonomics

The controller handles are angled a lot more “inwards” compared to other controllers, forcing you to adopt a much more uncomfortable wrist position. Specifically you have to extend your wrist slightly more than you would on a standard Xbox controller.

Second, the actual size of the controller is quite small. This makes it so sometimes I have to strain my thumb to transition between buttons and thumbsticks. Also the handles of the …

I’d like to share how I put everything I’ve learned in this sub into practice.

Last weekend, from Friday through Monday, I flew for the first time with personal item only. My ticket would have included carry-on luggage, but after reading here that Lufthansa has been increasingly checking carry-on luggage at the gate for my flight route (Frankfurt–London), I decided to bring only a personal item. And yes, they sent an email the day before asking passengers to voluntarily check their carry-on luggage.

I had been worried beforehand whether everything would work out, but Deutsche Bahn was kind to us and ran on time. From the long-distance train station at the airport to the gate, it took us less than half an hour, including security screening and automated passport control. Had checked online in the day before.

I recently came back from 4 years in South East Asia between 2022-2026, and thought it would be interesting to share the few items survived this time. Without a home base, these are actually all the things that remain from 2022. Kinda scary 😀

In a few weeks, I’m going to start a 3 months trip across Europe. I traveled a lot in the past, but this one is a bit special because I’ll be going through 18 countries in total (might be more if there is some spare time, which I doubt there will).

To be clear, this isn’t a touristic trip (even if there will be some sightseeing). I’m a journalist, and my goal is to go interrailling across Europe to meet it’s people, write about them, their lives, their environment, and ask them what it means to be european in their eyes (if it does mean anything). Like many, I’ve had a bit of trouble off and on drying clothes after a sink or shower wash.

One common and good tip is keeping the front and back of whatever you are trying to dry apart to allow for more airflow.

But how? It hit me on my last trip. I took the plastic bag for the ice bucket in the hotel room and blew it up,tied it off like a balloon, and stuck it up my hanging shirt. Did the same thing with a ziplock bag for another shirt. It helped my drying time immensely.

I’m packing four shirts and two pairs of pants for two months in Southeast Asia, which puts me at washing something most nights. I keep reading that merino and synthetics dry overnight, but I’ve also read that at 80% humidity in a room with no aircon, nothing really dries. I’d rather sort this out now than three shirts into a permanently damp pile.

Joining the Evergoods Ecosphere!

Relatively new to the Carry Community, started with an AER TP3S, added an Able Carry Daily Plus but then I discovered the Evergoods X-PAC Summer Capsule and had to get a CAP 2 and a CTB26 and though not X-PAC a CAP .5. The organizational layout and the way they interact with each other is fantastic. It’s my Goldilocks bag sitting between the AER for travel and the Able Carry as a daypack. My only qualm is the feel of the top and side handles. They absolutely do not need the rigid plastic insert, it’s just too uncomfortable and the only flaw on another wise awesome bag. The CAP 2 fits perfectly in the main compartment and gives it a perfect base. The CAP .5 holds my smaller gear and slips easily into the yoke pocket. Highly recommend!

I use my CPL24 for hiking (I know, I know, these bags are too heavy for serious hiking, bla bla bla). My biggest gripe was always how hot my back gets, as the back panel is not very well ventilated. I went to Acadia National Park this past weekend and decided to try this cheap ventilation sheet from Luna Project (size small). 10-11mile hike, temperature high in the 80’s, about 7hrs outdoors total. Did my back still get sweaty? Yes absolutely, there’s no way around that. BUT that little bit of separation felt nice. I got a little more wind going through, but more importantly, I didn’t feel as sticky-icky. My whole back didn’t feel like it was pressed up against a wall. It’s quite thin, very lightweight, slides nicely into the sleeve in the main compartment when I’m not using it. It was well worth the cheap price.

CPL16 vs CPL24 stiffness

Hey everyone,

I wanted to try out CPL line for some time now and around two months ago I got an amazing deal to buy new CPL16 secondhand. The back came with tags and I fell in love. It hold its shape great and was just perfect for me in terms of features. Although I bought it mostly just to try out Evergoods product, as I had no experience with them previously.

Not much after getting CPL16 I found used CPL24 that I wanted to be my default for daily carry, since I also carry gym outfit and sometimes keyboard in addition to typical office stuff. CPL24 was also secondhand, but this time already with some mileage.

The main difference I notice (other than volume ofc) is that CPL16 holds its shape way way better. With CPL24 sometimes I struggle to pull on the zippers without holding the bag with other hand and with CPL16 it is not that big of an issue.

Now comes the question – is CPL16 just better than CPL24 in holding its shape because it is smaller or is there also some difference …

I am becoming a little obsessed with this design. I can’t seem to find any actual web pages or links to buy this from, credit, or even like a blog post just talking about it.

Both these photos were taken off of Pinterest from “Drivesdesign” and “visuaaal interest” respectively. Neither link up to a website or have any correct information.

After reverse image searching, looking through this whole Reddit for similar images, and trying to just google it I can’t seem to figure out where this comes from or who made it.

There is an inscription on the second picture that from what I can make out is “article 1/500” and then what appears to be a serial number. If anyone has any idea or can help me find it I would be extremely grateful.

I recently broke my main Jungle Green Pro2 and had to swap parts with my older grey Pro2 and it ended up looking so amazing. This has been a mixture of FOUR different 8BitDo controllers, plus a stick from Leadjoy (modded to fit), a 3Dprinted+painted C Stick, and lots of membrane swapping (they wear out so easily!!). I realized it’s very Majora’s Mask coded, so I stuck the mask pin in the clear battery compartment and it sits in there perfectly without moving around! 😄(I’ve been using the controller wired lately so no battery pack needed).
I bought this used xbox controller and the seller claims he has upgraded the sticks it to TMR sticks. What does that mean?

I have to admit that I’m somewhat obsessed with work rucksacks, though it borders on addiction.
I have far too many depending on the day and what I need to take to the office.
If I’m only carrying a few things and don’t need to bring my lunch box, my favorite is the 17-liter Topo Designs Mountain Crossbody, after much searching.
I choose a crossbody backpack because I like to have certain items on hand at all times, such as my wallet, travel card, sunglasses, and camera.
That’s why I’m quite fussy when I carry a backpack. It needs to fit everything I carry, be comfortable, allow ventilation against my back, provide direct access to certain pockets, have plenty of internal organization, and not be too stiff.

CTactical Ho Chi Minh store experience

Went to HCM on holiday recently and planned a straight visit to the CTactical store from the airport since it was only 12 minutes away via taxi.

This place was awesome; staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. I ended up buying a CT21+ in 420D Robic, a CT3 NEO to match along with it and a bunch of other pouches / wallets and pencil cases. They also had some group buy items on sale, but the stock is limited.

If you do plan to visit Vietnam and HCM city, I highly recommend planning a visit here. The prices are quite a bit cheaper than they are online.

The CT21+ is definitely the best large EDC bag I’ve used imo. The front admin panel is glorious. It definitely reminds me of the TP3 admin panel. The CT3 NEO is great too; It works well as a camera bag (fits my X100VI perfectly).

I’m definitely coming back soon to buy more stuff, maybe the CT21 Lite as well.

CT Messenger (custom) - One of the best for 14" laptop

Its been a few months since I ordered and received this CT15 messenger bag on the CTactical Facebook page. For this bag I went with a blue Ultra 200, their rainbow stitching, lime ultragrid interior, and side pockets in dark chili ultrastretch. I think I inadvertently created a rainbow brite colorway, but I’m a 90s kid and enjoy loud colors. The CT Messenger is light but well-structured and very compact, sized to fit a 14” laptop max. Its got an easy access zip on the flap so there is no need to undo the clasps to access stuff inside (but you will need to open the flap to use the computer sleeve). It wears really well on body and the strap has a good, easy to place pad and is easy to adjust.

I started a new job earlier this year and they issued me a 14” laptop, much smaller than my old 15.6” Lenovo. So in typical manybagger fashion I’ve been picking up a whole slew of smaller 14” briefcases/big slings. Typically, I just buy used bags or stuff …

I’m packing for 10 days in Portugal with an Osprey 26+6, and I’ve managed to get everything down to about 18L. Part of that involved cutting pajamas. Travel tee plus running shorts, done. Two items, two jobs each. Very efficient. Except this “efficient” system means checking which shirt is clean enough to sleep in, timing sink laundry so it dries before bed, and making sure I don’t wear tomorrow’s only clean shorts while I’m sleeping. I save a little space and somehow create a nightly admin task.
I tested the setup at home for three nights and was irritated by night two. Then I looked at the things that have made previous trips easy: broken-in tevas, one uniqlo button-down that works with everything, tiny toiletries, and the old ekouaer set I already sleep in at home. I know how each one fits, washes and feels after a long day, so they require very little thought. The pajamas are coming. I’ll find the space. I’m tired of turning bedtime into a laundry schedule.

I recently did a 3-day trip from Bergen to Oslo, Norway. I’ve travelled minimally for a while, but this time, I wanted to see how light I could travel and still feel comfortable. Not only did I have a great trip, I also learned something that will impact all my future trips!

The biggest lesson learned is just how little clothing I can get by with. I had an extra set of underwear, and sink washed the clothing that smelled/felt dirty at the hotel each night. I did not miss having more clothing.

I travel between New York and Sweden frequently, staying in my apartments there. I could do laundry regularly, so I have a small clothing list instead of a full wardrobe. These are all of my clothes I have had since high school anyway. I try to get everything that is modular as well.

I spent months on 30L vs 40L and missed the actual variable. Once I committed to sink laundry every third night, four shirts replaced seven and the size question answered itself.

The tradeoff is that it moves the cost from my back to my evenings, and some nights I don’t want to spend twenty minutes at a sink.

So where do you land, building the list around a laundry cadence, or picking the cadence that lets you carry what you wanted anyway?

Admin Pouch Mounting

Upgraded the solution for improving the top mounting points inside my Evergoods Bag, now with Fidlocks. Cap 1 snaps in and is held in place securely, can be opened in place and closed in place. Two pulls on the cordage (one to the right and one to the left) will pop it out. Can also run the cordage up above and pull it out without opening the main compartment too much.

The Cap1 requires no permanent modifications, all the hardware just hooks onto webbing. For other pouches (like the Peak Design pouch in the photos) you can modify them to attach with another Fidlock piece.

The reason I sold all three of my Evergoods bags boils down to the exact same issues. First, the shoulder strap webbing is fraying, looking like shedding fur, and I absolutely hate looking at it. Second, all three of my bags (CHZ22, CBB22, PLC20) are incredibly uncomfortable to wear; it feels like they never fit my body properly.

I feel like Evergoods bags are designed to be worn high up on the shoulders and tight against the back. However, in this position, the straps become very short. When I take the bag off or put it back on, the strap webbing constantly rubs aggressively against my arms, causing the webbing to fray terribly, just like in the picture! Ultimately, I decided to just sell them all. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love Evergoods’ styling, including their pouches and slings—I own several of them and will definitely keep using them. But as for their backpacks, I am selling every single one.

For any of you who have purchased an Evergoods CPL or CTB bag in the summer capsule xpac release, here is a simple hack for you guys.

It has been a known tiny issue on the CPL and CTB that the vertical zippers such as the laptop compartment zipper and the front panel zipper when closed are too near the other zippers. For example, the laptop zipper is way too close to the yoke pocket, making it annoying as sometimes the wrong zipper is pulled.

The known solution was to change the zipper pulls, and on the regular versions of the bag, you would need to buy new zipper pulls, but that is not the case for the coyote xpac versions of the bag, as inside of the main compartment on the front flap there are two coyote zipper pulls, which you can swap out for the two vertical black zipper pulls on the outside of the bag, solving the problem for free!

As the topic says, I am planning to get a CPL24. I am already on the Evergoods ecosystem and use CHZ22 for EDC and CTB26 for travel.
I am thinking of CPL24 cause sometimes when I need to carry my gym gear to work CHZ22 isn’t enough. I tried CTB26 couple of times and it’s too big. Update: Thanks everyone for the suggestions! After reading all the comments, I’ve narrowed it down to the 8BitDo Ultimate 2C Wireless and GameSir Nova Lite 2.

I’m leaning slightly toward the GameSir because a few people mentioned the 8BitDo can feel a bit small for larger hands (I’m 6’1” with ~18–20 cm hands). However, many reviews say the 8BitDo has slightly better build quality and buttons, so I’m still undecided.

The hardest part is to desolder old sticks. I have just soldering iron and it’s almost impossible to do it clean with it, so I just cut the old sticks with a flush cutter and desoldered pins remained. Also have used soldering wick

I also accidentally disassembled some buttons while cleaning with isopropyl alcohol and toothbrush and it was pain to assemble them back. Beware

1. My Midnight Black DualSense Edge isn’t even a year old, but the shell was already starting to get shiny in a few spots. Combined with a few other minor gripes, I decided it was time to do a proper overhaul.
2. After seeing the recently discovered method to bypass stock stick calibration, I swapped both modules with K-Silver JS13 Pro+ sticks. Got them calibrated to a clean 8.4% Circularity.
3. The PS button for the Edge is actually shaped differently from the standard DualSense. Shoutout to a post I found here on Reddit—I ended up grafting a colored PS button top from a standard DualSense onto the lower stem of the Edge’s button.
4. Managed to source a 3rd party battery available in my area. Considering the stock battery has a hard shell, there’s a pretty noticeable difference in weight!
5. Finished it off with an eXtremeRate Clear Black shell. While reassembling, I lubricated the buttons where they contact the shell and the internal trigger gears using Krytox 205g0. (I was actually …
8BitDo's pocket sized leverless controller

I purchased this product with my own money and have no affiliation with 8BitDo.

The model is the “8BitDo Lite SE 2.4G Wireless Controller for Xbox.” It came out in October 2024, but I only found out it existed about two months ago.

I was immediately interested in the full face button layout, but none of the reviews I watched tried taking advantage of it.

I’ve been using it for the past month, and even though the hand placement feels a bit awkward at first, it’s definitely viable.
It’s a great option if you’re already used to a leverless layout and want something with a similar feel on the go.

Alternatively, I set up a second profile with the directional buttons mapped the same way as a JoyCon. That lets you hold the controller instead of having to lay it flat on your lap or a table.

There’s really only one downside: unfortunately, it isn’t recognized by iPadOS or iOS, whether you try wired or use the 2.4G receiver with a USB C adapter.

After some research I pulled the trigger and got the Rework Outbound 30L to possibly replace my Patagonia Black Hole MLC 30L (I love the MLC, but was missing a bit of extra admin pockets).

I’ll be travelling to Japan for 3 weeks in September and just did a packing test. The bag is awesome, the main compartment is probably a tiny bit smaller than the MLC, but the two front pocket more than compensate. I also really love how the top pocket space is horizontal, the top pocket on the MLC is basically useless if your main compartment is fairly package. The straps are definitely an upgrade.

I posted in the WTS/WTB thread about being interested in buying a Synik. This user reached out to me with a basically once used bag for 200 dollars. The price seemed suspiciously low so I went to search the profile and all their posts are hidden. I searched their username on Reddit and came across a recent post where they successfully scammed someone for a pair of sunglasses and attempted to scam another for a watch.

I took some screenshots of my chat and went to AI which successfully matched the photos and description to this post:

When I first looked at this e-reader I thought it was a joke…then I started reading reviews and thought there might be something to it and to my surprise there was.

First of all this thing is almost comically tiny….disappearing in a pocket or fanny pack. It’s about ¹⁄₃ the size of a pack of cigarettes and weights nothing which is perfect for weight savings when one bagging.

Despite its minuscule size I’ve actually found it very viable for daily reading and travel. I can pop it out on a train or bus and read without burning precious phone battery life and without the distractions. Some of the other reasons I like it:
1. Its batteries last for weeks and it has usb-c charging requiring no extra cables.
2. Tons of free epubs online (just drag and drop onto the removable micro SD or WiFi download).
3. I can easily hold it with one hand
4. As I said before, it’s tiny and weighs nothing.
5. There is tons of info online about these…easy to problem solve.

We (my 44-year-old wife and me, 40M) will travel for 2 months through South America.

Not our first “Onebag” tour, but our first where doing it right actually matters. A 3-day tour with tote bags doesn’t count, I think.

Starting end of July in Lima and ending in Rio de Janeiro end of September. After two weeks, there is a fixed date for Machu Picchu, but nothing else is planned. There is a general idea of a route, but I don’t think we will follow it. It would be a bit too stressful. So we are preparing for temperatures from -12°C in Uyuni to 30°C in Brasilia.

Besides the typical tourist attractions, we will do some hikes and hopefully visit some football matches if we feel safe enough.

I really tried to use a Carry-On-sized backpack, but due to the temperature differences, it’s a bit too difficult. And even if I could imagine reducing my stuff and washing more often – my wife wouldn’t :)

TD25 as a personal item

Flew Frontier Airlines a few times recently with my new Evergoods TD25 as my personal item. I thought the bag would fit the sizer but it didn’t. It didn’t even fit in the carry on sizer. It’s supposed to measure 16.1”W x 11.6”H x 8”D while Frontier Airlines personal item size limit is 18”W x 14”H x 8”D, and it’s 16”W x 24”H x 10”D for carry ons. When packing I purposely left space so that it wouldn’t bulge. I don’t know. I’m thinking I definitely would have had to pay for it as a carry on if they tested it in the sizer, and at that point I might as well have brought my 45l Backpack.

Also, it ended up being pretty heavy on my shoulders and wasn’t very comfortable when navigating through the airport. I’m looking into possibly replacing the strap, but I’m guessing it’ll be hard to get a color match- maybe I should have gotten black instead of OD Green to make that easier.

Overall, I love the quality and the look. No regrets on that part. I’ll still use it as a personal item and just …

I found a CTB 26 Phoenix ii for a steal on ebay. I was the only bidder. Pictures showed a little wear but nothing crazy. Also didn’t come with the cool Phoenix Patch but wasn’t a deal breaker for me. I was just looking for a CTB 26 in Xpac for a reasonable price. Showed up two days ago and it stinks, like it smells like dirty cats…maybe? I can’t put my finger on what it smells like but it definitely has a smell. Tried airing it out and dousing it in Fabreeze but that didn’t last long. Any recommendations to safely and effectively clean it. Wore it today for the first time was happy with it but through the day I could smell the nasty smell coming back. I saw on the site Evergoods recommends hand wash only just seeing if anyone has hand washed their bag and if they have any tips! Would like to enjoy the bag and not regret buying it second hand.

Hello everyone. Crazylink4 here once again with a new review/analysis. This time I’ll be talking about the ChiTu 2 HD Silent Edition from MOBAPAD.

1. Relationship with the ChiTu 2 HD
This controller is a ChiTu 2 HD with the major difference of featuring buttons cushioned with liquid silicone rubber, unlike the standard ChiTu 2, which uses microswitches. Other differences include the addition of RGB lighting and the fact that the D-pad is no longer interchangeable (it only comes in the cross-shaped design). Used a Herschel and North Face throughout my whole life and decided it was time to upgrade! Went with the CP2 in ultra. I do like the super slimness when it’s not packed out and it does feel more like 18L than the 16L stated.

I paired a xxs peak design ultralight packing cube to use for small things in the front pocket as it’s quite large and things get lost easily. The clip is a nice touch also for easy access to it. The Nav green hero clip matches amazing with the green ultra as well.

Also had a discount code for my bday from PD so i got a 50L Coyote X-Pac Duffel (: Very shiny but I like it.

I’ve had the Uniqlo Multi Pocket Shoulder Bag for a while and just got the new Utility Shoulder Bag and I think I prefer it overall.

The internal organisation is more or less the same, with the new bag a touch smaller. Both fit my 14 inch MBP. The two internal slip pockets are still there.

I really like Multi Pocket bag, but a common complaint is the overall construction. It’s very thin and soft, which makes it quite comfortable, but also results in it collapsing in on itself when worn. Especially if not very full. It makes fishing out belongings while on the go a two-hand job.

The new bag has a stiffer, slightly thicker material. Something a little bit like Bellroy’s signature fabric (but not as premium). It largely prevents it from collapsing when worn. People have said it’s more padded, but I think that’s an illusion of the stiffer material. Load your laptop at your own peril. Still no false bottom.

For the heck of it, I took the Tomtoc Navigator 9l as my travel bag for an overnight work trip MUC-DUB, about two hours outside Dublin with travel by bus and train in country. With a good and warm weather forecast I didn‘t have to worry about rain gear which would have killed this setup.

Focus is obviously on work, with the neo for office stuff and the ipad pro 11“ and controller for the Unreal applications we program. This is actually the main use for the tomtoc, moving with the neo and ipad between home and office. For that, it is a really good sling ( I ditched the aer travel sling) for short uses. Continuous use is not so great with the lopsided strain on shoulders and back.

The tech pouches by Tasmanian Tiger are a continuous optimization process. Not a fan of big pouches, two smaller ones make for optimizes packing. For this trip, I left out the larger powerbank as well as the combined apple watch / magsafe charger. Getting there.

I recently got back from a 29 trip to Portugal with the 28-38 Blast Travel Bag from Bagsmart. Here’s how it went.

Trip purpose: 2 weeks working remotely and 2 weeks wondering around. I had my first few days’ accommodation booked, and then I played it by ear. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. Maybe go hiking, maybe be a beach bum, maybe visit castles. I tried to pack my bag in a way that could fit those scenarios.

Bag: 28-38 Blast Travel Bag from Bagsmart. I didn’t love it, but I don’t love using backpacks. I’m a one bag roller type of person, but I knew the cobblestones of Portugal would cause issues, so backpack it is. I used the 28 size of the bag and never expanded it to the 38 size. I could carry everything in my first photo, minus one pair of shoes and sweater (but that’s okay because I always need to wear one outfit with shoes each day).

After hours of research last weekend before my flight for today, I decided to get a backpack I can use for future trips that may be longer than a weekend or a week. I settled on this pack.

I actually managed to fit a lot more than I could with my 22L AER pack I used to travel with and am very impressed

I just got back from four days in Barcelona and wanted to share my full packing list

Bags: a navy canvas backpack, somewhere around 20 liters, as my main bag that stayed at the hotel, plus a small black sling bag I actually wore around the city all day.

Barcelona itself completely lived up to the hype. Casa Batlló looking up at that facade felt like standing inside something alive, and somehow the best moment of the whole trip was just holding a scoop of mango sorbet on Passeig de Gràcia at golden hour, watching everyone walk by.

Hey,

been lurking for a good time here and learnt a lot. Hence, I wanted to share a trip report.

I spent 18 days traveling across Uganda with the Patagonia Black Hole Mini MLC 30L. My total pack weight was 7.8 kg, including everything except the clothes I wore during travel.

The route included Kampala, Murchison Falls National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Lake Bunyonyi and Entebbe. Highlights included chimpanzee tracking, a gorilla trek, game drives, boat safaris and traveling a lot by public transport and shared transfers.

The cover photo is not 100% accurate. Before departure I replaced my rain jacket with the Patagonia Torrentshell 3L and added a pair of binoculars. Both changes proved to be excellent decisions. You can see full content on the last photo.

I just got a CTB26 to replace a GR1 that I didn’t like as much as I thought I would. I have a CHZ26 and CPL24 already. I intend to sell the CHZ26 (if anyone is interested!).

I fly a lot for work, mostly United with a mix of Alaska thrown in. For those that fly US domestic with the CTB26, how does it fit under seats if not fully packed? I’ll be using it as a carry-on for short trips (paired with a Topo Designs Brief) or as a single carry-on/personal item with a checked bag for longer trips.

Internet seems to be hit and miss or have conflicting info depending on the person and/or airline.

I have been using a one bag (either the CTB26 or the PD 30L Travel Backpack) for the last few years when going on business trips of less than a week. However, recently I have been thinking about putting less load on my back and transitioning to a two-bag setup (a backpack and a carry-on roller).

The SN30 is just a little too small to be comfortable for longer sessions, so I was thinking about getting an 8BitDo Pro 3 as a symmetrical option while I wait for a Steam Controller. But then I remembered that 3D Printing is a thing and made myself a grip. (Not my design, just one I found on printables: https://www.printables.com/model/174225-8bitdo-sf30-sn30-pro-grip-21-wired-support)

It’s obviously missing some features of the Pro 3, but I played a couple hours of Elden Ring last night and it makes a huge difference in comfort. I still have some rough spots to sand down on the back, but I’m pretty impressed. Size-wise it’s about the same as my Ultimate 2C, but now I don’t have to remap my brain as much to find the dpad when I switch between handheld and docked mode on the steam deck.

GameSir Tegenaria Lite [T3 Lite] D-Pad + Face Button Swap

L1 and R1 sometimes getting stuck and decided to open this controller to check what’s causing it.

Surprisingly, it has an inner frame where the board was attached via screws. This frame also holds the rumble motors, shoulder buttons, and trigger buttons. DS2-DS4 also has this kind of frame (well this is based on a PS controller), DualSense also has this frame but I think it’s a bit hassle to detach unlike to DS2-DS4.

Moving on, you don’t actually need to unscrew everything, you just need to unscrew the ones that is attached to the shell to detach it.

And here it is, after seeing the D-Pad and Face Buttons, it reminds that it looks like the PS1 controller to DS5. I’ve search for my defective DS4, disassembled it and test fitted the D-Pad and Face Buttons to this GameSir T3 Lite.

It does fit to the slots, all I need to do is cut the little nubs on the face buttons leaving the wider nubs to properly insert it in the slot. For the D-Pad, I did cut the elevations …

I picked up the Aer go pack 2, and I didn’t expect to love it so much.

For context, I was looking for a lighter backpack as my previous backpack which was baboon to the moon city backpack was really heavy after packing my daily EDC in.

Was considering between couple backpack and eventually narrowed it down to bellroy lite ready pack and the Aer go pack 2. Despite the lite ready pack being lighter, it could not beat the usefulness off the kangaroo pouch and the 2 external bottle holder.

On my last trip for a wedding, I flew with a 45l carry on (Mystery Ranch Rover). A connecting flight was cancelled, but I got on a standby flight at the last minute. However, they forced me to gate check as in, “you can gate check or stay behind.” The bummer was I had a laptop, expensive binoculars, and some other fragile items I was sure would get damaged by checking the soft bag.

Fortunately, I had packed my wife’s 25l Eddie Bauer tote bag to use during the trip. I was able to pull out all the stuff I cared about about and keep that under the seat. I think I’m going to make sure and always pack something like that tote bag in case this happens again, which seems likely since the overhead bins now fill up so quickly.

So, I am a dad and we have three teenage boys. We usually will travel with a carryon roller bag (sampsonite we brought from Costco). This year, I traveled with an Osprey and my oldest traveled with a dry bag he converted into his backpack.

We will typically go for ¹²⁄₁₃ days. I do laundry mid trip. I find a local laundromat and leave the family back at the hotel.

We just got back from Japan but I have had similar experiences through out Europe. For the family, they dont mind a down evening of sitting in the hotel for three hours.

I love starting a wash and grabbing a drink. During the wash faze, I went to a bar where the bartender served drinks and played jazz music (both English and Japanese). There were 6 chairs. Just fun. Nothing crazy.

The German carrier introduced this restrictive policy for all new bookings made from 28 April 2026.
The updated baggage rules affect all scheduled journeys departing on or after 19 May 2026. Thoughts from 2 months in SEA on 26L

This is a followup post to the advice post I made for this sub, four months in SEA. Four months turned into 3 months, and now while I’m in China with my family I figure I can get gifts for myself and people back home, so I will be one bagging no longer.

This was my first big solo trip away from home and the first time I’ve traveled without a suitcase. Honestly, for whatever reason, I thought that sub 30 liter packs would be the golden standard. While I was on the trip, I met exactly one person who packed less than 26 liters, but I met many people who recognized the convenience of having just the backpack.

Looking back, my constraints for this trip (mainly having to pack my computer because of work) made 26 liters a touch small for me. On airport days, my bag was just under 8 kilos, but I would guess that just walking around it was closer to 8.5-9 kilos. If I didn’t have to work, the cutting of ~1-2 kilos of weight and a saving some volume would have made this …

I’m curious what people’s thoughts are on the CPL24 vs. CTB26 for a 1 bag travel bag for trips lasting a weekend, potentially longer?

I prefer the 840d that comes on the CPL24 (I don’t believe the CTB26 has a 840d option?) I also don’t NEED the external water bottle pockets, although I’m sure they’re handy to have.

Is the additional 2L of the CTB26 really a noticeable difference to people that have experience with both bags?

Got my first ever controller. I have some questions.

I got the game sir nova 2 lite. I’ve never used an controller before so I honestly don’t have anything to compare it with. I wanted a decent controller without spending too much and where I’m from this controller sells for like 25-26 dollars. So far it’s pretty good everything works as it should. I have some questions.
1. First of all how in the world do I aim with this thing in Shooters, any tips or guides to improve.
Currently for right side I press on A/B/X/Y with the right index finger and press RB and RT with my middle finger.

And for left side I keep my middle and index finger on LT and LB

The thumbs stay on the stick’s.

The problem is i can’t comfortably press on back buttons like this. What should I change?
1. I hear something loose inside the USB dongle when I shake it. At first I thought it’s broken but it works perfectly so should I still be concerned?

1) Price, msrp is $160 USD. HP was doing 4th of July sales and codes+my student discount I was able to get it for around $100

2) this controller is very very new, I had a hard time finding reviews or anything about it. It’s basically only sold on the HP and hyper x websites RN I don’t even think it’s on Amazon yet. So I wanted to at least post my experience for future consumers

3)It’s an Xbox/PC controller, can be used wired, Bluetooth or USB dongle (USB A with no USB c adapter)

I spotted that Flydigi recently registered the Apex 6 with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the US. This tends to be a reliable forward indicator of product releases and the main product details tend to be final/near final at this stage in order to go through testing and be approved.

In the gallery:

What appears to be new: swappable mode triggers, haptic triggers
- The mechanism to change trigger modes is visible on the rear of the controller and on the inside, and resembles that on the Vader 5 Pro. The external slider tabs rotate the internal parts, to move microswitches behind the triggers and shorten trigger travel distance.
- The large ‘adaptive trigger’ mechanisms that previously occupied that space are no longer visible. The page describing ‘force feedback triggers’ has been removed in the manual.

So I bought this last week and thought to leave a review here. This is my first controller (after being a long time KB+M player) and I’m really liking it.

Build Quality & Feel:

The build quality is very good and premium. The in-hand feel is nice and doesn’t feel cheap at all. The controller is very comfortable and doesn’t feel heavy at all while playing for long hours.

The face buttons are little tight but not too much just like membrane buttons but they don’t feel bad. The D-pad is really good which is mechanical round disc type and it works really well without much wrong inputs and is quite clicky and easy to press.

The triggers are also very good and I didn’t faced any issues with them (however I would recommend to avoid using trigger locks as I saw a few users told …

I just buy a pair replacement paddles, just snipped off the extra part with a nipper and sanded down the edges. now the back buttons are shorter, way more comfy to hold, and no more accidental clicks

i bought a cyclone 2 because the amount of good reviews was overwhelming, but i needed to return and the main reason was the face buttons, i hated it. ended up buying a Tarantula which uses membrane buttons, the question is, is there better implementations? there’s a lot of high end controllers that i find interesting but I fear all of them after that terrible experience with because of the trend of using mouse switch face buttons.

I kind of regret not going with the 30L Max, but I’ve managed to make the 26L work. It’s crazy how good the harness system is. The weight just seems to disappear once it’s on your shoulders.

For me it’s usually backup earbuds or extra cables. Not because I actually need them, but because my brain goes “what if” and they end up in the bag again.

It’s such a tiny thing, but these tiny things add up fast.

I have long resisted the ereader because I did not like the idea of paying for digital media that I could own in physical. I also am an English graduate and must admit that the thought of reading from a screen was unromantic to me (which I will fully admit is a little snobby and a silly problem). I am so accustomed to dogearing pages and writing in the margins that I thought the inability to do so would be frustrating. I finally decided to get a Kobo this spring to experiment after my last shot at an ereader in 2016, and I am very happy with the decision. Mostly, the flexibility of having my library with me has been incredible. I like to read multiple titles at a time, and I used to carry with me two to four books while traveling (insanity). I am currently reading a 550 page biography and a 400 page novel, and I am very pleased to not be lugging them around with me right now!

I’m back from my first time (serious) onebagging trip for 9 days in Athens in June. While it’s still fresh in my mind, here is a detailed trip report. I added some photos of the updated packing list and a few extras with impressions of my first time in Athens.

I’ve been looking for a backpack that works well for one-bag travel while still being comfortable enough for hiking and longer trips.

I recently bought the Decathlon Travel 500 Organizer 30L. According to Decathlon, its dimensions are 50 × 28 × 22 cm, while Ryanair’s free personal item limit is 40 × 25 × 20 cm. So on paper it definitely shouldn’t fit.

Before actually flying with it, I decided to do a realistic test.

Even after packing all of that, I honestly felt I could have squeezed in enough clothes for another couple of days.

The photos show everything I packed, how I organized it inside the backpack, and what it looked like when fully loaded.

Then I took it to the airport and tried it in a real Ryanair bag sizer.

To my surprise… it fit.

In the photo it may look like it’s sticking slightly above the red line, but in person that wasn’t really the case. There was actually still some room to compress it a little further. …

I was on a Jetblue Boston -> SFO flight and put my onebag (my only bag) in the overhead bin, which was empty, right above my seat. The FA stopped me and said I needed to put it under seat to save room for larger carryon luggage from people coming on board.

Is this a thing? Why would someone with a smaller pack be penalized for not having a massive carryon? My bag is larger than personal item sized.

So I just came back from my trip, and I took too much clothes again🙈 (I went to Austria, Slovenia, Italy, Kroatia, and Slovakia all by train🚂 and I took a flight back home at the end). There was a heatwave in Europe during my trip, but I still really enjoyed it! It was a mixture of city trips, hiking and day trips. And all low budget: so cheap accomodations, saving money on food etc.

In preparation for a United Airlines cross country flight I tried to find the best Evergoods bag I had for under the seat accommodations. It seemed like the 26L may have been a gamble but the 25L TD could be the ticket.

Here to say it worked out very well. No issues at the gate and no issues with under the seat.

I stuffed the bag pretty heavily and also have my MacBook Pro in there (laying flat).

Take that Basic Economy 🙂
I keep finding new uses for the Evergoods CAP2 — it’s more than just a tech pouch

I’ve been using the Evergoods CAP2 for a while now, and honestly, this is one of those pouches that keeps surprising me. On paper it’s just a 2L pouch, but in real use it feels like a little gear station that can be repurposed in a bunch of different ways.
I recently got the X-Pac version with the coyote interior, and that combo looks really good in person. Black outside, coyote inside — way better than the usual bright orange lining in my opinion. I also added my own paracord zipper pulls because I like customizing my pouches a bit.
What I like most about the CAP2 is how structured it is. It opens wide, stands up on a desk, and the middle divider can swing either direction depending on how you want to pack it. That makes it feel less like a pouch and more like a small desk caddy.

Received my transit duffel 25L xpac from the summer capsule. Unboxed it and though the bag is great I immediately noticed how wrinkly the outer shell is. I certainly don’t expect it to look exactly how smooth, shiny and perfect like how it’s shown in the product page on the website, but this seems a bit excessive especially fresh out of the box.
For some context, this is my 2nd evergoods bag (CTB26 in od green), but I have multiple of each the CAP’s including the CAP1 and CAP0.5 in xpac.

The Shenwan Q37 Pro is my new favorite mini controller

(Sorry, first post in this subreddit. I’m not affiliated with any brands and I bought these controllers with my own money.)

I’ve always liked mini controllers. Even if I don’t use them a ton they are just fun for the novelty of them. Ever since emulators came to iOS I’ve carried one around to break out anytime I want to game and now I think I’ve found my new favorite mini (until maybe the CRKD Atom+ comes out).

I bought a blue Q37 pro on Amazon a couple weeks back and then I saw they have a silver one now so I bought that lol. Overall, it’s a really good controller. Really light and thin (only 15mm with the joysticks) and takes up very little room in a jean pocket. It’s not as invisible in the pocket as say a 8bitdo Micro but it’s still fairly easily to forget it’s in there.

And despite me mainly getting it to have something a little more ergonomic to play 2D platformers with, I was surprised by how good the joysticks were. Accurate and no cardinal snapping that I could see while …
Flydigi Vader 5 Pro - I think I’m Finally Done with Flydigi

I bought the Vader 5 Pro from Amazon with my own money and have no affiliation with Flydigi or any other controller company.

TLDR; the Vader 5 Pro is almost perfect, but the actuation of the thumbsticks sucks, leading to accidental presses and making consistent high-level gameplay impossible.

I love the Flydigi Vader controllers - the looks, the button layout, the software (when it works as intended), but after owning the Vader 3, 4, and now 5, I might finally be ready to stop spending my money with them and move on.

I received the Vader 5 Pro v2 (yay) and got everything set up. Software works great, love the new shoulder buttons, and just like previous iterations, the size of the controller just feels good. Also, the addition of paddles on the back is a welcome change with perfect placement (IMO) and the tension adjustment knobs ~~actually~~ finally working as intended.

But for whatever reason, it’s always 2 steps forward and 1 step back with these Vader controllers. I haven’t seen a …

- Brook Wingman FGC2 and FGC VX have firmware updates available that add support for the Steam Controller (2026), so it can be used on PlayStation 4 and 5 consoles. Touchpad and back button functionality is supported; motion control and vibration is not.
- DSX+ v3.2 Beta is an app for using the DualSense (PS5 controller) on PC. The latest Beta versions add the ability to use all controller functions, including audio and haptics, via Bluetooth. Note that DSX+ (not just the core DSX app) is required, although this may still be cheaper and easier if you don’t want to build your own adapter to achieve the same thing.

Vader 5 pro right stick infinite press bug

I’ve been playing with this controller for barely 2 months now, and I absolutely love it. But just now, for no reason (I really take good care of it), a major bug appeared: my right stick click (R3) is registered as constantly pressed down/spam when I don’t even touch it.

As you can see in the video, it’s stuck on infinite press/spam.

Here is what I’ve already tried to fix it:

I completely removed the plastic thumbstick to make sure it wasn’t pushing too hard on the mechanism, but the button stays completely triggered on the tester

I reset the controller to factory settings

Has anyone faced this issue?

Just received my Saber Plus yesterday and have put a bit of time into it. I purchased the controller myself and have no affiliation with anything other than afternoon naps.

2 sentence bottom line: if you’re looking for a controller for dpad centric use, look elsewhere, it’s an extremely cheap and weirdly shallow pad that has, and I hate to say it, a similar but worse feeling Switch Pro-esque controller dpad. If you’re looking for a symmetrical but primarily joystick centric use case, this controller is superb in all other ways and I doubt you’d be disappointed.

Like many of you here, I’m annoyingly picky when it comes to feel and ergonomics.

I’m mainly a mouse and keyboard user, but I do use controllers for third person games (dead space, dark souls, etc), retro emulation, and platformers/RPGs (Silksong, Chrono Trigger, etc).

Generally, I prefer an asymmetrical/Xbox layout for third person games - my favorite so far being the GameSir G7 Pro (with a minor asterisk that the face …

Quick Review:
- With the full loadout, the Tomtoc still feels comfortable on my body and shoulder.
- First time owning an X-Pac bag, and I’m surprised by the texture and overall quality. We’ll see long term how it handles “dimples”.

- My gadgets fit comfortably and feel safe inside the bag.
- The bag might be a bit big , but it gives me flexibility. I can fit my mirrorless camera, Switch 2, headset, controllers, for a quick day-out essentials.

Recently I flew into Almaty, Kazakhstan. I couldn’t get the local ride hailing app to work so I was forced to use an airport taxi. When I got to the destination the taxi tried to overcharge me 10x the price (he wanted $50 usd equivalent for a 10 minute ride instead of the $3-$5 that is normal). Knowing I have my bag in hand (and not in the trunk) and can just walk at any moment is a very empowering when arguing over the price.

I’ve been trying to get better at packing lighter because every trip I end up carrying stuff I never use.

Last weekend I was sitting on my bed with my backpack open my laptop next to me checking my flight details and my phone in my hand playing on grandprize also looking through packing lists I kept adding things because I thought I might need them.

Five days later I got home and realized I never touched an extra pair of shoes half the clothes I packed, or a bunch of little gadgets I was convinced would come in handy. It kind of made me realize I don’t pack for the trip I’m taking I pack for every situation that probably won’t happen.

I’m starting to think packing light has more to do with trusting yourself to figure things out than finding the perfect packing list.

Osprey Kestrel 38: I know some people shy away from top-loaders for travel, but this isn’t my first rodeo. I used a very similar setup for a trip to Malaysia and it worked flawlessly. The secret to making a top-loader work is relying heavily on packing cubes to keep everything organized and easily accessible. Plus, the suspension system and carry comfort on this pack are unbeatable for long transit days.

I fly out for conferences like a dozen times a year, and I’ve finally dialed in my onebag work setup to where I’m happy with it. Figured I’d share.

The biggest pain was never fitting everything in. It was my phone dying way too fast on conference days. All day I’m scanning in at check-in, taking notes, checking the schedule, adding people on WhatsApp to swap contacts, and my phone would be at 20% before lunch. The outlets at the venue are always taken. So I rebuilt the whole kit around two ideas: carry less, and stay topped up.

One carry-on covers it. This is what I run for a 3 to 5 day conference:

Clothes (rolled into a packing cube)

A wrinkle-free blazer (wear it on the plane)

Dark dress pants x2 (one for the venue, one casual enough for dinners)

Merino wool tees x3 (don’t smell, easy to care for)

A button-up shirt x1 (backup for formal stuff)

Underwear x5, wool socks x4

White sneakers x1 (in a shoe bag)

Evergoods Civic Access Sling 1L — small but surprisingly usable

I’ve been using the new Evergoods Civic Access Sling 1L for a little bit now, and I wanted to share some honest thoughts because I didn’t want to review it right away just based on hype.

For context, I’m a big Evergoods fan, but this one had me curious because 1L sounds really small on paper. I mostly see this as a “destination sling” more than a full travel sling. Basically, it’s the kind of bag I’d pack inside a larger backpack or suitcase, then use once I get to the city/hotel/destination. It also works as a very minimal daily EDC sling if you don’t carry too much.

Build quality is exactly what I expected from Evergoods. The outside is 840D ballistic nylon with DWR coating, the inside has that gray 210D nylon lining they use, and the zippers/buckle feel very premium. The Duraflex buckle has that nice crisp snap to it. Small thing, but it does make the bag feel quality.

I bought an MPL22 about six months ago and it’s perfect except the straps feel very stiff to me. I’ve tried flexing / bending / rolling them but that didn’t make much difference. Curious to hear from others if I can expect the straps to soften up with more use… Should I load it up with something heavy and wear it around the house next?

In case it matters: I’m a medium sized woman - I don‘t find the straps too thin, I think they are slightly too wide, a bit stiff/thick, and slightly too far apart. Buckling the sternum strap helps with the last bit. Mostly it’s the stiffness I hope to solve.

I’ve been dialing in my travel setup and wanted to see what methods everyone here has settled on.

My current setup includes:

1× Evergoods 8L Packing Cube

1× Evergoods 4L Packing Cube

Several Peak Design Medium and Small Packing Cubes

These all get rotated between my CTB26 and other travel bags depending on the trip.

For those using Evergoods or Peak Design packing cubes:

Do you roll your clothes?

Do you use the KonMari/file-fold method?

Do you flat fold and stack everything?

Or have you landed on some hybrid approach?

I’m not necessarily trying to maximize every last cubic inch. I’m more interested in the best balance of: Easy access, Minimal wrinkles, Staying organized throughout the trip, Making good use of the compression cubes.

If you’ve experimented with different methods and found one that works particularly well with Evergoods bags, I’d love to hear what you’ve settled on and why.

Hey everyone. I’m sharing two latency tier lists for gamepads - covering both wired and wireless connections - based on data gathered using the Prometheus 82 hardware test bench for measuring input lag.

To give a better idea of actual in-game responsiveness, the tier list uses a weighted grading system called LatScore. This score accounts for button latency, stick latency, and signal stability (jitter).

A technician told me it’s not recommended to install TMR on my Xbox Series X controller, and the AI also told me that joysticks with TMR are more complicated to install and that I should have it done by very experienced technicians. It scared me a bit. lol

I found two technicians in my country who do install joysticks with TMR, and it costs twice as much as installing Hall Effect… I just want to forget about drift forever, especially since I like playing with my Xbox Series X controller, but I’m afraid of making the wrong decision.

So my current controller (normal Xbox Series x controller), but it’s on it’s final days unfortunately. So I’m looking for a new controller and I was mainly think about one of this three:

Wolverine v3 pro Wireless: What I understand it’s a great controller in terms of durability, buttons and comfort but a juicy price. It’s on sale now (refurbished) and is like 130 usd (1300kr).

G7 pro HE Tri-mode: So I understand it like this is a liked controller by many but have not really understand why, is it the durability or like the feel? And does it have any real features or is it more like a regular Xbox controller with a nice style?

G7 pro 8k: I don’t really know the difference between the 8k and HE but what I have understood it’s also a liked controller.

While studying I got myself a colourful Ethnotek, but as soon as I started to work I wanted something more serious and had to carry a laptop. I stumbled across Tropicfeel and the Nest backpack was a wonderful fit for me. Good size for EDC, fit my laptop, streamlined and with it’s addons great for a weekend trip to my hometown. In retrospect some more quick access would have been nice.

Then I started to work with CAD programs and my Laptop grew significantly to chunky 16”. But the Nest didn’t.

CAP1 Use Case, Loadout, and Mini Review

I’ve been using the CAP1 for about two months and it’s been a seamless bit of kit. My core purpose for using the CAP1 is as a bridge between use cases. It contains the gear that I bring and use all the time, no matter which bag or scenario I swap to. So instead of moving these individual items between bags, I just grab the CAP1. Going to work? Throw it into the CPL16. Travelling? Into the CTB26. Quick coffee? Into the car’s glove box and then I can pick and choose what I might need to line my pockets instead of bringing the whole thing.

It’s especially useful when travelling though, it’s much easier moving it between my luggage into my sling with my camera instead of moving individual items (or worse, buying duplicates). I also use everything in my CAP1 significantly more when travelling. Once I’m back at the hotel, I lay it out so I can still access it and then I can throw it back into luggage when we move on. It’s been a game changer.

Trip Report: 12 days between Aarhus, Copenhagen & Paris (28L)

I had a 12-day trip between Aarhus, Copenhagen, and Paris, mostly hanging out with family and enjoying the usual café scene, museum visits, city walks, bar hopping, you name it.

Transportation included: a KLM flight, Icelandair, a Ryanair flight, a couple of long-distance buses, a train, and the metro. Navigating all that with the 28L was a breeze!

What worked:
- I’ve really come to appreciate the 28L form factor from Bellroy. It’s wild to think I can travel to a different continent with just a 28L and not feel like I need anything.
- I packed a medium-weight and a light-weight t-shirt from W&P. I haven’t shared much about the light version, but wow, I could practically live in these. They weigh just about nothing. I bought mine at full sticker price, and it’s definitely a buy-once cry-once situation. Pricy but oh so worth it. Highly recommend.

Just came back from our 3 week holiday in Europe and these were really convenient and saved us so much money and space. It allowed us to just have oats for breakfast in the morning and make our own easy lunch or dinner with bread and dips. Will definitely pack this again next time. First-time (serious) onebag - Packing List 9 Days in Athens (Summer)

I’m technically not new to the onebag concept, but I’ve always checked in my luggage because my one bag is a hiking pack (24L) which is of course too tall to comply the carry-on size (plus I’m almost always traveling with my partner who always has a huge pack with him, so I always end up checking bags with him anyway). In the past few trips, there has always been huge delays til our packs were unloaded at the airport carousel to pick up (up to 2 hrs one time). So now I’ve been lurking on this sub and got out my trusty smaller 18L hiking pack to finally do some serious onebagging (i.e. no checking in luggage). It’s still ever slightly too big for a personal item, but complies as regular carry on. For context, I’m a hobbit-sized lady in her 30s with (mildly) chronic shoulder/back pain, hence why I need hiking pack with hip belts to avoid too much pressure on my shoulders.

After years of traveling with a 40L bag (usually an Osprey Farpoint), I decided to challenge myself for my upcoming Philippines trip: 2 weeks with only a 16L personal item.

This isn’t a necessity-driven onebag trip. My wife will have a checked roller, so if I forget something or we pick up souvenirs, there’s a built-in safety net. That actually makes this the perfect low-risk opportunity to experiment and see how small I can realistically go.

I’m not a fashion-heavy traveler…mostly neutral tees, shorts, and simple layers. So outfit repeating doesn’t bother me. Two weeks in the Philippines in summer felt like the ideal test case: hot weather, lighter clothes, easier laundry. Wins all the way around.

I’m also an ultralight backpacker, so minimalism isn’t new to me… but cutting my travel loadout from 40L down to 16L feels like a completely different feat haha. Living out of a backpack has always appealed to me.

This Hurts - Review of the new CAS1 (Civic Access Sling 1L)

This hurts to say - I am returning the CAS1. I own a few EG gear (CTB26, CBB22, CAS2 v1, CAP0.5) and I’ve successfully influenced others to buy EG gear. My position still stands: I love EG gear and continue to recommend them.

The CAS1 on paper makes a lot of sense to me. Just large enough for a pocket dump for when I don’t need the extra capacity of a CAS2, which is my absolute most-used gear/bag. It’s rare I leave the house and don’t have the CAS2 on me.

Initial impressions of the CAS1 was that it was quite small and a bit oddly organized. The back retaining section expands a lot more than I realized – this ended up being fine/okay, if I needed to double-stack flat items against each other. I would rather a slimmer back retaining section to allow for the main compartment to shine. The interior zipper pocket is nice, but the 2 smaller slip pockets inside that pocket are really, really small and short. I ended up putting bandaids for my kids in there, but …
First EG bag

Recently got the CTB20 - after some use, I’m absolutely loving it! Had a lot of hesitations due to controversies online, but back digging isn’t something that happens to me, and the harnesses were comfortable even when heavily loaded out. Only caveat is it sometimes pressed into my lower chest, but a quick move of the straps fixed that.

It just has everything I’d ever need in a good EDC bag; qap, laptop compartment with possibility for multiple devices, big water bottle holders, etc. Also read some things online about the low quality fabric, and yes it’s not 840 or 1680d but still feels very durable and premium.

Only issue is given the weight and extra structure/padding, I wouldn’t use it as my only bag on an airplane holiday. However, as someone who travels as much within my country on rails, it’s perfect for that.

Next on the list is the CAP2!
Extreme weather stress test (Typhoon) for CTB 26L X-Pac

Took my recently bought CTB 26L X-Pac out for a weather test during the Typhoon Mekkhala downpour in Taipei this morning. About a 15-minute scooter ride from home to work, through one of the heaviest rainstorms I’ve ever ridden in.

Loadout
- Main compartment: Peak Design pouches (Tech + Wash) at the bottom, Ziploc bag with a change of clothes, CAP 1L, 0.5L, Mx Master 4 mouse.
- Laptop compartment: 14” MacBook Pro, some documents filed.
- Quick-access pouches: Misc. EDC gear + gym towel.
Overall, the main compartment stayed mostly dry. The only issue was the very bottom, where both PD pouches got slightly damp. My guess is either due to the small gap between the AquaGuard zippers, or moisture soaked in from the bottom while the bag was standing upright.

The front quick-access pocket was also a little damp around the zipper gap, enough to get my gym towel slightly wet, but nothing major.

The side and rear quick-access pocket stayed completely dry. Same goes for the laptop compartment, …

The stealth black X-Pac X42 exterior with the coyote brown interior is such a great combination. The coyote lining looks even better in person and makes everything inside easy to see. The build quality is exactly what I’d expect from EVERGOODS: rock solid, thoughtfully designed, and incredibly well put together.

Also have to give props to EVERGOODS on shipping. I ordered right when the drop opened on Tuesday and it showed up Friday. That’s impressively fast.

I’m considering using it as my personal item on longer international trips alongside my Tortuga travel backpack. I like the flexibility of having a duffel I can pull out for the flight while keeping the backpack in the overhead. The TD25 dimensions are 16.1” × 8” × 11.6”, so it seems like it should fit within the personal item allowances of the major carriers I fly most (British Airways, American, Delta, and United), but I’m curious about real-world experiences.

With the recent release of the Steam Controller (2026), LTT Labs collected controllers from around the office to perform testing for LinusTechTips and ShortCircuit videos, but within the team we were noting the variety of face buttons(A, B, X, Y). They’re all shaped differently, and combined with the ergonomics of the controller body, they can feel different to press as well.

Strangely, we weren’t able to find any force test results online, so we’re going to (partially) remedy that! We have the tools to check these out, so we did some poking and prodding with our test stand and force gauge.

We likely received some of these controllers as review units, but this isn’t a review of the controllers, more of an exploration of the button mechanics and testing. Let us know if you have any questions!

Uniqlo Utility Backpack, ask me anything

I ran across the Utility Backpack in a random Uniqlo in Ho Chi Minh City. It felt good in the hand, a lot sturdier than the Multi Pocket Backpack. Padding and ventilation on the straps and back feels a lot more plush too.



I’ve been using it for a day, walking around urban Vietnam for about 16000 steps in about 30deg Celsius heat, carrying whatever a fully loaded Toshi 6l sling weighs. Gotta say it’s been really, really comfortable. So much so that I’m gonna replace my Toshi backpack back home with this one, just to see how it carries.



It’s not a premium bag, but it’s… utilitarian in the best way. Heh heh.



And yes, the olive is gorgeous.

You all were so helpful in helping me decide on colors last time, I thought I’d ask one more question. I’ll try to be brief but do need to explain context a bit.

I’m trying to design a very premium sling. Initially, the concept collection was Vela (sail) so gravitated towards sail cloth inspired fabric and naturally went with laminated zippers.

I am putting a ton of effort into not compromising on construction and materials and was going to offer a lifetime warranty but ended up going with 8-year. But things like finished seams, high tier YKK zippers, PVD coated hardware.

But this collection isn’t meant to be a rugged outdoor collection. More of a fashionable city, everyday, type sling. Reverse coil zippers add a bit of water resistance as well. The fabric is water resistant as well. So maybe that is good enough?

Also, keep in mind with lamination, there are different quality. Low end laminates will begin to delaminate often in < 1 year. Good laminates …

I’ve bought so many damn slings, diff sizes, so many brands (code of bell, aer, evergoods, chrome, cotopaxi, heimplanet, Thule, fjallraven, baggu, the list goes on) and finally I’ve found the one!!!



Bellroy venture ready 2.5L. This sling has been out for a minute but it didnt catch my eye. Saw so many reviews that were raving about it, so grabbed one in black. Glad its the one without the shiny zippers and more subdued branding.



Its the perfect size. I would not want any bigger or smaller and most importantly it lays on the body so well! Thats been my biggest gripe with almost every sling, but the bellroy looks and feels good. I just wish i would have bought it 2 years ago. Now I can stop spending money on slings!

Some highlights:

The new rules now include the right to carry on board, without additional fee, one personal item, such as a small bag or backpack. On the insistence of MEPs price transparency and the comparability of air tickets was increased by obliging airlines, intermediaries and search portals to always display the air fare inclusive of carry-on luggage at the outset of the book process. Negotiators agreed that airlines may offer cheaper tickets for passengers who choose voluntarily to travel without hand luggage.

Air passengers will no longer be charged additional fees for correcting name spelling errors or for getting a printed version of a boarding pass if they have already checked in.

Maximum dimensions for a personal item will be 40cm by 30cm by 15cm. Maximum dimensions for carry-on luggage will be width+height+depth=100cm. Maximum weight will be 7kg.

I’m in Canada, and in the market for my first onebag solution. Many of you have heard of the Forclaz travel 500 40L. I was going to buy this bag but I didn’t like that the waistbelt is not removable. I’m checking the website and there’s now a Quechua 30L travel 500 bag and they added a removable waist strap which is amazing. The only thing is I’d still like the 40L for the extra capacity, and I’ve heard they are updating them from some EU consumers. I’d hate to buy the 40l now just for an upgraded version with a removable hip belt to come out soon. If anybody knows about the updated 40L or has tried the Quechua 30L out, please discuss here.

1 week hike in Yellowstone

Went on a 1 week hiking trip to Yellowstone with the wife. My tried and true TD35 as my carry-on, and using a mirror CPL24 for the first time! I really enjoyed carrying the CPL24, really lives up to the hype. Even on the 2 8-11 mile hikes we took, the CPL24 worked really admirably, once I figured out the best way to carry for me (which was very very high and tight and high sternum strap). I was surprised it felt light and comfortable. Had snacks for 2, 16oz water bottle, 3 liter water bladder, some binoculars, small camera optics, and light outerwear. Shoulder strap passthrough for the water bladder tube worked great. My only cons are no hip belt and a back panel that is not very ventilated. Will I use the CPL on longer 15+mile hikes? Perhaps not, but for 11miles and almost 6hrs, I had no issues with it! Very happy with this purchase!

I’ve wanted a custom Xbox controller through Design Lab since high school. This past year I’ve been rocking a PowerA wired controller; it gets the job done, but leaves a lot to be desired.

My mom recently got a Windows laptop for school, which came with Microsoft Premium, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for a year and a free custom controller. She let me design my own, and with all the add-ons I wanted, it only came out to $37–38

The timing couldn’t have been better either. I just started playing The Witcher 3 for the first time, and it happened to land right around the game’s 10th anniversary, which came with a special faceplate design. Felt like it was meant to be!

Not an ad, just excited to finally have something I’ve wanted for years. :))
8bitdo M30 Controller for Xbox

Soo been looking for a new controller for my PC/Switch 2 to play games Street Fighter/ MVC as the controllers I own have terrible dpads.

Picked up M30 Xbox edition and man this controller is near perfection!

- Build quality is amazing

- Dpad is one of the best if not the best dpad I’ve ever used!

- First 6 button controller for me and I absolutely love it for fighters!

- I was nervous about the size of the controller but honestly for my large hands this controller is surprisingly comfortable , I’m actually perfectly fine with its size!

Cons which are more nitpicks

- If this controller was 2.4G wireless it would literally be my perfectly ¹⁰⁄₁₀ controller!

- annoying 8bitdo doesn’t make a switch version with the adder triggers.

I do have a Gulikit Elves 2 on the way so I will def do a comparison, but I’m sold on this controller , it’s soo good!

Gave this controller a whole new life with an ExtremeRate shell. Not only do I not have to worry about the peeling rubber anymore, it feels much better than the rubber imo.

Also had the chance to fix the right bumper being a little inconsistent. Just had to push the switch up with a screwdriver LOL.

The deep placements of the D-Pad and four main buttons are way too far into the center of the controller!

No real issues with most of the games I played today but the hardest time I actually had were with Monster Hunter Wilds and Monster Hunter Sunbreak, specifically using the Insect Glaive due to the faster movements of monster and the complexity of the weapon itself like Kinsect commands (running around with left stick, holding L to enable Kinsect aim, right stick to aim, L + X to send Kinsect out and L + A to recall Kinsect all while the monster is moving around and my character trying to avoid getting hit).

Other than Monster Hunter and the one weapon, everything else felt great with the Wii U Pro Controller:

Xbox controller trigger limiters

Recently I picked up this controller someone had thrown away, and when I tested it, I thought the same because the triggers wouldn’t even go halfway down.

I kept messing with it though and found these strange switches on the back that seem to block the triggers from going all the way down, they either let it go down fully, two thirds of the way down, and one third down.

I don’t play console or use controllers often, but I’ve never seen before, so I just wanted to know if these are common or why you’d want this?

Hi all,

As you’ve no doubt seen this sub is facing a wave of AI slop posts. As moderators will pick up and remove anything flagged to us, but given this is coming from a series of accounts it’s quite hard to be proactive about it.

I’ve seen people commenting about leaving the sub as a result which is tough to read given how great this community can be.

We can implement more aggressive automated moderation tools but ultimately they will have to be reviewed by a person and things will slow right down given we are a tiny team.

I suppose I’m making this post to firstly, acknowledge we have a problem, secondly, ask for any solutions particularly from any individuals who are knowledgeable about how to best use our mod tools to hold the line.

Every time I share my onebag (with everything I own), at least one person asks what happens if it gets stolen. Well, it took over a decade but it finally happened! Luckily I retained the contents of my pockets (phone, wallet, etc) but my bag with all of my tech and clothing disappeared after a few too many drinks at a bar. And surprisingly, it wasn’t stressful at all! Yeah, replacing my passport was annoying, but overall I had a blast since I used it as an excuse to reset my whole kit.

So this means, this is my first post here in YEARS in which my kit actually has some noticeable changes! I’ve replaced more gear this month than I have in the past 5 years

Trip Report: 2 Weeks in Europe, Black Tie Wedding, 30L

Recently spent two weeks in Europe with a 30L bag. Total weight when packed (including day bag) was 19.8 pounds. There is a lot of discussion about gear here, but my goal was to only use what I already had and test it out before committing to upgrading anything. Pretty happy with how it went!

Itinerary was mostly city sightseeing, but with several hiking days as well, and a black tie wedding:
- 3 days in London
- 3 days in Istanbul, including a black tie wedding
- 2 days in Bath, including a hike to Stonehenge
- 2 days hiking on the western coast of Ireland
- 3 days in Dublin
What Went Well:
- One bagging: this trip involved 5 flights, 2 trains, and lots of public transit. Sticking to only a backpack was the right choice.
- Expandable tote bag: I was doubtful about this but threw it in at the last second, and it turned out to be so useful! It was a laundry bag, shopping bag, lunch bag, etc.

3L .5 bag short trip packing list, summer (70F/21C+) edition

This is my packing list for a summer .5 bag trip where temps are higher than 70F/21C. This loadout works easily for an overnight trip (no sink washing required!) and could be extended for up to 4 days or so with sink washing.

Bag: REI Ruckpack Waist Pack 3L. This unassuming and affordable random REI sling has become my endgame .5 bag for regular onebag travel, and is also perfect for this type of trip. Sadly it’s discontinued :(

I purchased this Osprey Daylite 26+6 a few months ago and have daily carried it since. However, the main reason I bought it wasn’t necessarily for daily carry. My mother-in-law had 2 scheduled back surgeries and knowing that my wife and I would be visiting and helping (6 hours away), I wanted something simple to carry to the hospital/rehab facility/hotel. Well that time has come. I’m happy to report that her surgeries were successful and she’s on the mend. Also, the one bag travel has been as equally successful.

This is a follow up to this post. I recently got back from a trip and the zipper on my mini Ikea pouch broke sadly, which meant it was time to find a new vessel for my essentials and to make a few tweaks to the contents.

This is my essentials pouch which I move to whichever crossbody bag I’m using instead of packing these items separately each time.

I spent 7 days traveling Bosnia + 2 days on a cruise ship.

My previous bag broke and my other option was a slightly oversized bag. With top handle it would have been 46cm long and about 32cm wide. I’m actually happy that I didn’t choose this bag, since I saw a man trying to fit his backpack into the bag sizer. His bag wasn’t off much, but enough for them to check. They didn’t check the bags at all on my departure flight, but on the return flight they were doing heavy checking.

I ended up taking a random small bag that I found and managed to fit everything in the picture into it. The bag dimensions when full were about: 37cmx23cmx15cm. As soon as I land I take fanny pack off the bag.

My gear was:

4x T-shirt. 5x underwear. 5x socks. 1x shorts. Powerbank + charger. Fanny pack. 1 extra phone. 14” laptop + charger. 1 jacket + sweatpants on me.

My main compromise with small bag was not bringing another shirt. I don’t sweat easily so I was okay wearing …

Just got mine today and really dig it - it fills a niche as being sized perfectly as a pocket reliever for me, which I especially wanted in the summer when I may have untrustworthy shorts pockets for my cell phone(s) and AirPods or no pockets at all.

The last pic is vs. an Aer Day Sling 3 Ultra, which I love for travel but is generally a bit too big for my day to day. I’ll probably end up removing the green hi-vis patch currently on it - also got the patches today and was curious how it’d look.
Experience with Evergoods Japan

I’m currently traveling in Japan and noticed that Evergoods Japan can ship directly to hotels. They also had quite a few bags on sale, so I decided to give it a try.

I placed my order on Sunday and received it on Wednesday. I would recommend contacting them first to make sure there’s enough time for delivery to your hotel. Their staff was very responsive and friendly. For example, if you want the bags delivered by June 14, you would normally need to place the order before June 10.

I picked up the CAS1 in OD Green for 11,000 JPY, about 69 USD, and the MHP3.5 in Coyote for 11,440 JPY (on sale) about 71 USD. Very happy with both purchases.
