In past years, I had written up a thread like this for the Linux gaming subreddit, but Steam Deck compatibility is so good these days that asking developers if their games will support Linux has become nearly irrelevant. Several of the games I demoed this year were run off of Steam Decks, and it’s basically my assumption that most or all of these games will work via Proton. Normally I list these in the order that I enjoyed them, but my predictions with regards to the games’ quality as final products has been so far off in the past that I’ll just list them all alphabetically and then put my favorites at the bottom. I attended PAX with my brother and a friend of ours, so sometimes you’ll see additional thoughts from them. I am 39.99 y/o solo developer working from middle of europe and I’ve been working on this game for the last 1,5 years during my spare time. I really loved the games back in early 90s and wanted to build something which will give us some good flashbacks :)
I would say that, even I am taking the inspiration from old, almost forgotten games the gameplay is fresh and unique! - There is absolutely no AI but only a simple set of rules, like we know it from Lemming games. This force the player to think about building placement and invite to constant Settlings flow opimisation.
To allow this all I have made some design decisions to support this kind of game play and f.e. terraforming features are already available in early game, so everyone has all needed tools to build a settlement in own and unique way.

Procedural Generation
My ambition with Vagabond is to generate worlds as interesting and living as possible to be the playground of fun role-playing adventures. I want to take advantage of procedural generation to create worlds full of details. I also believe that it will allow to create more dynamic worlds as it is possible to generate events, stories and characters on the fly.

My name is Luggage, and I am the solo developer of Verisim Skies.
Unlike many other Shmups, Verisim Skies puts a focus on story and cinematic action. However, for players who prefer a more traditional Shmup experience, Verisim Skies also offers an Arcade Mode that removes all dialogue sequences from the game.
The story unfolds over 9 action-packed missions that are all unlocked from the beginning. This should help less-experienced players complete the game at their own pace, without having to start the whole game over each time. For players wanting more of a challenge, the previously mentioned Arcade Mode must be completed in a single session.

Destroy stuff in the kitchen, bedroom, basement, living room, and a bunch of other indoor kickball fields. Kick home runs by kicking out the window, kicking into the mini basketball hoop, hitting a bullseye, and many other fun ways.

You know the ones. Games where you need to do repetitive and menial tasks like fetch quests, escorting or assassinating random NPCs or to “liberate areas”, but are so poorly written they feel like a chore, and were probably put there to fluff up the game to make it feel bigger and longer, as opposed to because they wanted to make meaningful content that expands on the world and its characters.
The worst offenders are the ones where you need to complete those quests (in these games they’re usually side quests) before you actually get to proceed with the main story, either because the main questline is locked until you complete those quests or because you need to level up first, lest you end up fighting bullet sponges that one-shot you because they’re 2 or 3 levels above you. Looking at you, ever recent Ubisoft game ever.

I had been playing FIFA 23 nearly since launch and didn’t have problems in actually running the game (bugs are a different story). That was until a patch in february, after which every time I’d try to launch the game I saw the loading pop-up for the new kernel-level anticheat they introduced this year, EA Anticheat, but after that nothing would happen and it’d just bring back that shitty EA Desktop app back into focus.
I’ve tried absolutely every solution under the sun since, recommended on Steam, EA forums or Reddit: mess with admin privileges, reinstall the game, reinstall anticheat certificates, clean boot etc. Everything short of reinstalling windows, since I’m not doing that for a single game.
Nothing worked, everything ended with the same result. This was the first time I’ve ever troubleshooted a wonky game - and I’ve done that with a whole lot from Windows XP onwards - where I couldn’t at least make it change its behavior …
