I understand that having an in house engine incurs an additional cost when it comes to game development, since you also have to spend development funds on maintaining and expanding the engine to keep up with modern demands, it also increases the on boarding time for developers, since if the engine is only used inhouse, developers wont have experience with it.
That said, I dread the future where every PC game is made on UE. I can deal with the horrible TAA or general bad optimization often present in UE games, or even that its made by epic. The one thing I detest though is stutters, from the recent shader compilation issues plaguing UE games to that all so famous and ancient asset loading stutter that has been present in UE games since who knows how long.
