Everybody hates game launchers, that’s just a fact. But holy fuck, at least when I’m forced to use Battle.net, Uplay, Rockstar’s launcher, Epic, or Steam I can at least expect them to launch the game 100% of the time. Off the top of my head I can never recall a single instance of any of those launchers failing to launch a game.
But then here comes the EA app. Getting this piece of shit to actually launch a game, the main thing a game launcher is supposed to do, is like getting a drunk dead-beat father with three ex-wives in his thirties to pay child support. I get that it’s EA, I get that their primary focus was getting the store portion of the launcher to function, but this is like if Ford made a car that couldn’t drive. It’s a game launcher, there is absolutely no reason why it shouldn’t be able to launch a game, yet here we are. I straight up can’t play the games that I paid real money for because this app is like a printer …
For me it was the second i bought a skin for a game…weeks later i was thinking “why did i do this, it’s an FPS game it literally adds no benefit to me”. Then i realized it was a combination of FOMO and the fact it was ‘limited offer’….like a digital good with a limited offer? Lol wtf. Since then i managed to never spend money on such games and since then i stopped playing games that have a lot of those obvious ‘gambling/addiction/microtransaction fomo marketing’ nonsense. Though to be fair stellaris still gets me, the bastards but i can justify it better than an ingame skin.

I decided recently to give another shot to Mechwarrior 5 which was terribly mediocre when it launched, and I was pretty much blown away by how very much improved it is now. In fact its now the game I wish it was when it launched.
Which made me think, we always hear when a huge budget game turns itself around (No Mans Sky Cyberpunk, etc.), but never about the smaller ones. What are your examples? What other games should be given a second chance by players today due to improvements since the launch?
