It seems I have been acknowledged by creating games that go against the current of the times, such as “hide-and-seek” games where you sneak into a building without being detected by the enemy, or “delivery games” where you enjoy moving around in an open world, For me, the most experimental game was “defeating vampires outside your house” using actual sunlight around you. It was met with fierce opposition from the staff and even within the company. In that sense, “OD” is just as different.

For me it’s the lack of “save game” mechanics. So many games seems to prefer the “checkpoint” approach, and while it might makes sense for some games (i.e. FromSoftware) I suspect it’s pure laziness for the majority of others. Don’t fucking force me to play for how ever long before I can safely exit the game. I might have RL shit that needs taken care of, or maybe I am just tired and don’t want to play any longer.

I got a free copy from the parts I bought building a new gaming rig and started playing it last night.
Im about 8 hours in and have been completely uninterested and bored of it since the start
I want to like it since its an absolutely gorgeous world to play in and explore. Is it worth pushing through the early game hoping the mid and late game is better?
These gigantic RPG first/3rd person shooters are great but damn the first quarter of them are hard to get through when they are all essentially the same.
It’s such an untapped genre. To anyone that doesn’t know, Pirates! Gold! (later Sid Myer’s Pirates) was a sandbox pirate game whereas the game progressed your character aged, and the goal was to amass as much wealth as you could during the golden age of piracy. I’m 35 and Pirates Gold has been one of my favorite videogames my whole life, its mechanics remain surprisingly rich.

Assassins creed black flag was the closest we got, next to sea of thieves… but sea of thieves isnt really an RPG and is starting to feel kinda dated.
Shoutout to failed kickstarter seaworthy, that would have been a pirate FTL… my dream game.
