We’re all hyped for the game — no problem there — but the six-year wait has made the community unbearable. Just look at any gaming event: you can always spot a “Silksong when?” in the chat. And whenever a smaller game or new indie title gets announced, it often feels like the community is belittling the other game.

Now, imagine if Silksong still doesn’t have a release date by the time tickets go on sale this July. At first, thousands of fans will snatch them up in mere seconds. After that, tickets will be resold for 20 times their value on eBay and similar platforms. Then, on the day of the event — even more of a shitshow — as people crowd the Silksong exhibition.

It’s not pessimism. This is likely what’s going to happen. And when it does, the Silksong community will be as infamous and disliked as the League of Legends community.

Super excited!

Just a quick something I noticed today looking through my (self-hosted) mail server logs:

unknown[152.115.41.46]: SASL PLAIN authentication failed: (reason unavailable), sasl_username=nexusmods@...

As you can see, it’s an unique email address that was used exclusively for my Nexus Mods account that I haven’t used in a while. It is now being used to try and pry one’s way into the mail server.

If I am to look through the logs, this has been going on since at least February and the attempts originate from around 300 different IPs that change over time.

To add - my account is from mid 2018, so 5 years after their only reported breach.

Some of you might not agree with me but man, TI used to really mean something.

I remember when I started playing Dota it was the absolute best time of the year (not to discredit all the in game events we used to get). But u mean seriously I used to log on after school and build a fantasy team, try to predict all sorts of things in my compendium. There was a prize pool which was epic to track and follow throughout the months leading up to TI there was in game UI thematics revolving around TI.

After the compendium times came battle pass times and I know the dota community is the definition of the grass is always greener, but man I had no money back then but still managed to think it was so cool and still got the free rewards.

Some of you enjoyed the crown fall event I honestly thought it was super boring I don’t really enjoy reading all the stuff and just played the roll and got 2 arcana’s which is super cool, but literally anything to create hype for the biggest competition in E …

The whole “we don’t want TI to overshadow the rest of the year” thing really killed the previous 10 years that TI had spent building. Every major sport has a tournament that just means more than everything else. The point system was good. The prize pool was amazing(could definitely be better controlled if they were that concerned about it). The prizes and in game events made it feel special. The hype around it promoted the event and Dota 2 as a whole better than any other esport. All to be ruined because “we don’t want to make hats anymore”. Such a shame really. Bring back the glory
