INDIKA is an utterly unique, psychedelic, and strange title, telling a wonderful, thought-provoking story filled with striking imagery and wonderfully bleak humor.
Indika is uniquely brilliant in its own peculiar way, with the bizarre yet enthralling narrative unlike any that I’ve seen in a game before. It’s suspenseful, thought-provoking, and bizarre in equal measure, yet it had me utterly enthralled from start to end. It looks absolutely gorgeous too, and whilst the slower pace of the gameplay won’t be for everyone, it has enough ideas on show with its interactivity and puzzling to keep players engaged.

Hello! A pre-warning, there’s going to be spoilers for the game mechanics of Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth. If there’s any meatier spoilers, I’ll tag them. Also, I have not even completed the game’s Hard Mode (New Game +), so I might be missing things and/or getting things incorrect.
The combat of Final Fantasy VII: Remake and Rebirth has been well received, but I think it deserves a lot more love. I’m not saying its the greatest combat ever, but it’s my personal favorite and I implore more people who like action combat in games to check it out for the combat alone. Rebirth took a great foundation started in Remake and made substantial progress. I’m a solo developer working on an open world rpg called Lair of the Leviathan. I wanted to make something inspired by the RPGs I grew up with.
There is a big emphasis on freedom and the hand crafted nature of the world. I am making everything by hand, no procedural world or dungeon generation. There is also no level scaling. I want players to be able to go where they want even if it’s in to areas way too difficult for them.

Plot. Detective of the 80s investigates a case involving arcade centers damaged by a cosmic beam. Crowds of visitors have turned into monsters, and arcade machines launch unusual versions of legendary games.
Retro Style. Limited color palette, monochrome sprites, CRT monitor glow, and even text mode—the graphic style is inspired by ZX Spectrum, Commodore, Apple, MSX, Atari, and MS-DOS games in CGA and EGA modes.
Procedural Generation. Rooms and map for each mission are procedurally generated. Each playthrough is unique as the buildings vary greatly. The structure of buildings is also random. For example, the first floor might be located on different sides of a river or highway, and the connection will be on the upper floors. Or some parts of the building might be a narrow high-rise tower.

Since the early 1990s, many game engines such as id Tech, CryEngine and Source have been made. But none of them have become as popular to use as Unreal has. If I remember correctly, even CD PROJEKT RED ditched REDengine for Unreal because so many game devs know how to use it, making it more efficient to develop games.
Why is this? What did Epic do right compared to id Software, Crytek and Valve?
