I remember every time you died in the Batman Arkham games the game over screen would have the villains taunting you. It was mostly The Joker but if you lost to another supervillain in a boss fight they would have their own unique scenes. I used to die intentionally to see some of those scenes.
Nier Automata also had boss fights and sequences where if you died or ran away it would trigger one of the game’s 24 “endings”
