I am nothing but conflicted regarding The First Descendant. It’s a Modern Prometheus of parts and ideas that looks and plays wonderfully when it works. However, the Dr. Frankenstein who assembled it is clearly profit-driven and has a bit of a reputation for its microtransactions. Throw in the equivalent of a Dell Dimension 8400 for a server and things look grim. I don’t expect The First Descendant to get a lot of support in the time it’s around, and I’ll enjoy it for what it is, but I won’t make the mistake of believing it will hold much attention outside of a small, dedicated player base.

Hi r/games! We’re a small indie games studio that is announcing our debut game: Everglyph Trials.
The game is a roguelite deckbuilder that emphasizes adaptive deckbuilding to create combos and synergies. For each run, we want players to “think on their feet” and make hard choices to beat the floor bosses. We were inspired by other great games in our genre like Slay the Spire, Dune Imperium, and Balatro.

I don’t know when it started, but one of the most famous examples is Jedi: Fallen Order where you constantly squeeze through cracks in the walls. It probably wasn’t the first game doing this, but since then it constantly pops up in every game I play. My latest examples are ‘Still wakes the deep’ and ‘Ghost of Tsushima’.
I just don’t get it and maybe it works like a loading screen for new areas, basically like a faster version of the doors in Resident Evil. Other than that it’s almost like a TV trope. Anybody got any clue?
