Into the Restless Ruins is a roguelike deckbuilder where your cards are rooms and corridors. Each turn you build a bit more of the dungeon, and then you autobattle through it to uncover new bonuses, add new cards to your deck, upgrade your existing cards, and try to unlock the next step towards the boss creature’s lair. Rooms you place have effects on your stats and hand, and also have elements that you can use during the autobattle phase, and the whole thing is wrapped in a take on Scottish myths and legends (we’re based in Edinburgh!)

Unbox the Room is a relaxing puzzle game where you unpack and arrange items and furniture in your new home. Create a cozy space by placing everything just right, from the smallest cup to the largest sofa.
At the moment, the game is being developed by one person (me). But a musician is also periodically involved in development.
Key features:
I’ve been doing game dev as a hobby for a little over a year and occasionally I’m just amazed at all the stuff modern games are needing to process at a crisp 60+ fps. For example in a hack and slash game with dozens of units on screen in order to create a frame the PC needs to:
1: Collect player inputs and calculate unit logic including pathing, calculating distance to enemies and allies, and action selection.
2: Take the thousands of polygons of each unit and position them in 3D space based on their current animation frame sometimes blending between multiple animations at a time.
3: Calculate the physics of all moving or interacting objects.
4: Using shaders and lighting models determine the color values of the more than 2 million pixels (Standard 1080P display) and render them to the screen.
All this takes place in 16 milliseconds at 60FPS, and this doesn’t even include any networking sorcery which delves into alternate realities and timelines. We built brains …

I often see people say “Oh, raytracing isn’t that good” when in reality they are talking about hybrid tracing pipelines. It’s exhausting to have to explain to them every time that real raytracing is different from the hybrid ones, and most of the time they still can’t understand it. Because a lot of modern games call it “ray tracing”.
For example, 2077 has both the hybrid choice and true raytracing. Since it already named the hybrid method “raytracing”, it can only name the true raytracing as “path tracing”. I mean, there’s nothing wrong with it in a naming sense, but it’s confusing, especially for those who don’t really understand it.
