September 8, 2004 was when Burnout 3: Takedown, the third game in Criterion Games’ now iconic racing series, was first released on the PS2/Xbox. For many, it was the turning point for the series, one that took its wild crashes and made them into a core gameplay mechanic worth utilizing and mastering. Now it’s 20 years later and, in my opinion, the series has never felt like it ever reached that peak again.
Back in the day, the Burnout series really stood out for me when I (only) owned a Gamecube. Playing the first in the series, followed by the second, there was a ton of almost cartoonish spectacle in seeing how cars could crash, especially in Point of Impact’s addictive Crash Mode. It wasn’t until I got a PS2 that I became enamored with how wild the third installment’s races were. There was a sense of aggression that no other racing game of that era seemed to encapsulate. The Great Fluctus is an open-world adventure game with a very chill/relaxing vibe.
It’s definitely not a no man’s sky (there is no crafting and base building), but more focus towards narrative, non-linear storytelling and very cozy alien worlds.
The trailer basically says it all, I just want to add that this game is my heart, soul and tons and tons of efforts. I hope it shows, and I’d be happy to hear your feedback!
The game is set to release in 2025, but very polished demo with 40 minutes of gameplay is already available.

I’m the developer of Final Factory, and large scale automation game set in space, inspired by Factorio and Cosmoteer.
I’m mostly a one-man shop but Final Factory is a huge game with a long campaign to launch Von Neumann probes into a Black Hole. It has a sprawling tech tree, lots of automation and logistics puzzles, ships to design and build, and an endless universe to explore.
The Overdrive update loosens up some of the rigidity of the game’s mechanics, and rebalances the game with new content and relaxed stability and heat requirements and much more. Hopefully players will find the game to have even more creative freedom with builds than before. I’d love to hear your feedback!

Reality Drift is inspired both by old games like Outrun and more modern games such as Slay the Spire. I’d been thinking about writing a 2.5D retro racing game when I saw some pre-stream intro art on a StS stream, which showed an old-school camper van racing off a ramp. This gave me the idea of doing a racing game with interesting choices. Outrun is a fun game but most modern players wouldn’t play it for 10+ hours. By adding a roguelike structure and meaningful choices, I created a game which takes minutes to learn but many hours to master. Success involves not just driving well but more importantly, choosing the right upgrades and tracks at the right moments. Even after working on the game for over two years, I can’t say that I’ve totally mastered it. When I narrowly lose a race, I’ll often wonder whether an earlier choice was the right one in retrospect.
