Hi everyone, I’m a longtime Dota 2 player with over 4000 hours in-game, and I absolutely love this game. After discovering the powerful data and API offered by OpenDota, I tried developing a free Windows app called Dotahold to make use of it. You can check it out on the Microsoft Store — it’s free to download!

It displays hero and item data from Dota2.com and match details via OpenDota. Developed as a UWP app using new Windows 11 technologies — .NET 9 and AOT — for better performance and a smoother experience.

Here are a few screenshots to give you a quick look at how it works — I’d love to hear what you think, and any suggestions for improvement are super welcome!

I edited this screen manually to show how much gold and XP came from Hand of Midas

Since Dota already displays breakdowns for XP and gold from creeps, heroes, runes, Roshan, Shrine of Wisdom, etc., I think Midas should be included as well — it’s an item designed specifically to generate gold and XP.

Seeing its exact contribution could help evaluate if the purchase was actually worth it in the match and consider the purchase in next matches.

Would anyone else thinks is a good addition?

I’ve been playing for close to 13 years now, since the closed beta. Decently high ranked. Every time I finish the match I am exhausted and have to take a break by playing another game or just watching something else until I get bored of that and want to go back to Dota. Winning or losing doesn’t matter, I’m just so tired at the end of the game. If anything the only time I chain queue is after consecutive losses.

Is anyone else like this? The mental strain when playing is real, especially for a competitive person like me, yet I get bored of anything that’s not Dota

after seeing the the wip vyper model and being SUPER INSPIRED by eyeheadd’s redesign i couldn’t help not drawing up my own version. also the idea of her just being a really big “normal” snake from philly is too funny to me.

The Shop update has, in my opinion, significantly damaged build variety, and I’d like to break down why that is. On the surface, the idea of spreading out stats across more items might sound like it opens up new possibilities. But when you dig into the actual gameplay impact, it ends up doing the opposite.

Core stats like movement speed were removed from the older, multi-functional items and split into narrow, specialized ones. At the same time, players now have fewer inventory slots to work with. What this means in practice is that you’re now paying more souls and using more slots just to recreate the same effects you used to get from a single item. And because each item now offers fewer specific benefits, you’re forced to focus on maximizing efficiency for every slot. That inevitably leads to a smaller pool of viable combinations and pushes everyone toward the same tried-and-true meta builds.

Consider Mystic Reverb. It used to be a great example of a well-rounded item. It …

Player count is low, and thats entire player base, your region likely has half if not less playing, youre going to get low quality matches. Wait for the next update. Matchmaking was fine when player counts were high, the skill pool is very skewed, players who are really good are still playing, new players are leaving because there isnt other new players to play against.

Just chill, go play Minecraft or some if its that bad. (Thats what Im doin rn)

Also its a closed beta losses dont matter you’re probably not going pro. Just enjoy the game guys. Fr.
