And my god, it’s one of the best games I’ve ever played. Coming from a gamer of decades with several hundred titles played.
Sure, a bit wonky camera and platforming, but everything else just comes toghether so perfectly. The simplicity in design and puzzles contradicted in the complexity of the Nest and game world. How little you’re allowed to interact with the world vs how much impact your story has. The mysteries presentet in a way that only team ICO can do. And of course the big doofus that accompany you in your journey.
Trico is absolutely adorable, and despite a 15 hr first playthrough I almost felt as much for the beast as I do for my own pets.
10⁄10, will play again, right now.
The entire first chapter (~2 hours) is a free demo on Steam, and you’ll be able to import your saves into the full game.
You’ve finally made it to the dead-end mining town of Scarlet Hollow, North Carolina, where your aunt is dead, your cousin hates you, and something otherworldly stalks you from the shadows. You won’t be able to save everyone. You might not even be able to save yourself. Welcome home.
We’re a two person studio who you might know from our work on Slay the Princess. Scarlet Hollow is our other title, and we’re currently releasing it episodically through early access. So far 4 of our total 7 episodes are out, with the fifth slated for later this year.
A little under a week ago, we released The Roads Untraveled, an over 70,000 word long expansion to the first two episodes of the game, allowing for even deeper player agency and narrative branching.

Hi guys, I’ve been playing and completing several demos from Steam’s Nextfest over the last week or so. Mostly in the Roguelike/Deckbuilding genre.
I was looking for recommendations, and while I found some, there was little in the way of in-depth opinions, so I wrote up my reviews for several titles I’ve tried so that others can maybe get turned on to something they may have otherwise missed.
As a disclaimer, I have tried not to let bias colour my reviews, but I won’t sugar coat the fact that some games I just don’t like the style or mechanics of, though I know others love them (I didn’t like dicey dungeons for example, but know it is well reviewed and highly regarded by some).
Lastly, sorry for any bad spelling, my keyboard is kind of broken atm.
