I’ve recently tried getting into Valorant after playing other class based, tactical, and arcade shooters my entire life. I’ve played them all at differing skill levels but the common denominator between them is that the gameplay and shooting had always felt consistent and rewarding independent of the properties of those specific games. Valorant’s gameplay on the other hand just feels so unrewarding and contradictory.
When I shoot a rifle in Cod or Fortnite I understand the game’s shooting mechanics are more arcadey and the higher variability in the guns bloom makes sense. When I shoot a usp or cavieras pistol in cs or siege respectively the guns feel consistent and when I lose an aim duel I usually can easily pinpoint why. Valorant’s gunplay on the other hand feels extremely contradictory and limiting as the high amount of variability of the gun’s accuracy doesn’t make for fair and consistent gameplay given the low time to kill and marketing …
