For me, it’s The Crew, a driving game with lackluster driving and a boring campaign with a terrible story. And yet I still find myself coming back to it because it’s the best Road-trip simulator I’ve ever played (I’ve heard American Truck Simulator is really good for this too).
The game is pretty ugly if you look at anything up close, but the variety and size of the world is still an achievement that I feel wasn’t surpassed until the new Flight Simulator.
The condensed map is the perfect size. Just big enough that getting from New York to LA feels like a journey. Watching the landscape change as you move through different biomes, from cities to forests, from snow-covered mountains to deserts, never gets old.
