Take The Outer Worlds, improve every aspect that didn’t convince the most skeptical at the time, and you’ll have the result of Obsidian Entertainment’s hard work. The space madness returns in The Outer Worlds 2 with brilliant writing, multifaceted role-playing, and even greater freedom of choice. All this is complemented by a fun combat system and decidedly more contemporary gunplay. The icing on the cake of a year to remember for the Californian team, which once again proves itself to be one of the most successful software houses of this …
Earlier today, Krafton CEO Changhan Kim announced plans to transform the publisher into an “AI First” company, which not only includes workflow automation, in-game AI services, and company-wide AI operation infrastructure by the second half of 2026, but also the reorganisation of HR around AI.
“Through our AI First strategy, Krafton will broaden growth opportunities for each individual member, expand player-experienced creative endeavours, and lead AI innovation across the entire games industry,” Kim said (machine translated by DeepL). “We will establish AI-centric operational standards to present best practices that can serve as a reference for the global games industry.”
Management’s goal of 30% profit margins for gaming has led to job losses, canceled projects
Over the past two years, executives at the Seattle-based software giant have set an across-the-board goal of 30% “accountability margins,” a term Microsoft uses in lieu of profit margins, according to people familiar with the business. *The average profit margin in the video-game industry in recent years has ranged between 17% and 22%, according to estimates from S&P Global Market Intelligence, while coming in between 10% and 20% over the past six years at Xbox. I’m dying over here.
Just kidding… raiders of all budgets, see you all topside soon! 🫡
I see so many posts trying to ‘fix’ extraction camping. Most of the time it’s probably some nearby dude that rushed over after hearing you call the elevator.
Just hit the button, wait in cover, and when the elevator arrives just throw a smoke while you operate the terminal. If they push you, fight them off and if you lose, tough luck.
That’s what an extraction shooter is all about, the thrill of extracting, and if you don’t want to deal with that then carry a hatch key.
Be nice to be able to properly team up with friendlies so you don’t confuse them for enemies in gun fights and be able to revive them without the defib.
I’m not talking about the lil guys, I’m glad they made them a bit less observant, that was annoying as fuck.
I’m talking about the big guys. It’s a rare and special experience when a game with combat has an enemy that makes you think, “oh fuck no, stay away” and it makes some incredibly tense moments, and it’s incredibly exciting when it does spot you and you have to fight tooth and nail to barely scrape out alive.
The Queen killed 100,000 raiders, but was only killed 77 times. That’s fucking awesome. There should be enemies that are incredibly scary and require monumental effort to take down, it really hammers in that underdog feeling that makes this game so great. If the queen was just hard to kill, she wouldn’t feel special. But since she’s damn near impossible, she feels so unique as an enemy.
