My alltime #1 in this category is fifa. When we were kids and played it like 20 years ago we talked about how awesome the game must be 20 years in the future. I recently played it with a friend for a few matches and man… what a disappointment. The exact same bugs and gameplay issues. Microtransactions everywhere. The entire experience evolves around grinding the cards.
Any games like that you expected to be crazy good and turned out be bad?
In the game you can already find a lot of old-world items — guitars, music, albums, cassette tapes, even various tech loot. So clearly, things from the past have survived and are scattered around the world. But for some reason, you can’t find any proper old weapons — only makeshift, crafted stuff from the current era.
If the setting is really a world taken over by robots, it would make sense that some original weapons are still out there — AKs, M16s, or other rare finds. That would add atmosphere, strengthen the lore, and give players more reason to explore.
Right now it feels weird: music survived the apocalypse, but weapons didn’t.
Support this idea if you’d like to see rare “legendary” old-world weapons in the game, not just crafted gear.
I’m talking about tracking stats per weapon, like:
- how many times a gun was used
- how often players survived/extracted with it
- how many players (“owners”) have that gun
Met this dude in solos and we became friends over mutual enemies. When I met him he was on PlayStation and was kinda mid at the game, but not horrible. Fast forward, I’ve been playing with him for around a month and suddenly he swaps to PC by using his laptop.
I questioned the change since there’s no way it’s better than playing on his normal monitor, but he was adamant he just enjoyed it more. I watch him play and suddenly he has beyond human game sense, ex: his audio sense was horrible, but now he could “hear” a team drop from a zip 60+ meters out, he stopped clearing random buildings because he knew nobody was in them, we NEVER got jumped out of position, he would chase people down perfectly, his positional sense was otherworldly. I call him out, he denies, I give him the benefit of the doubt since he was a homie and maybe I was just coping. I continue to watch him and he continued to play way above his baseline and only ever give accurate calls. I call him out officially again …
What on Gods green arc-filled earth did I trip on? Did I fall? Break a leg?
Props to the guys using my fav strat of shooting arc to get others, but what on earth was that?!
I’ve put around 400 hours into Arc Raiders and I really love the game. The gameplay, the atmosphere, the tension, it’s all there. But after a while, I started feeling like the loop just wasn’t going anywhere.
So I went back to Division 2 and it honestly changed how I see endgame systems.
Division 2 is not a perfect game at all. It has a lot of flaws. But it’s been updated for years and you can feel how all the systems connect. Everything you do matters in some way. You’re always progressing, whether it’s your build, your stats, your library, or just getting closer to something better.
In Arc Raiders, I feel like a lot of what we loot doesn’t have real long term value. You farm items, use them, lose them, and repeat. Expeditions are a good example. You spend time collecting resources and preparing, but then everything resets anyway after the cycle. Blueprints reset, crafting loses meaning, and even legendary weapons don’t feel strong enough to justify the cost or the risk of losing …
Stella montis:
“don’t shoot!” they say.
“thanks, I won’t shoot.” I reply.
But I keep distance and keep moving away. Then they’re running after me - even using an adrenaline (!) so, I get around a corner and peek them. As they round the corner they pull the gun out. I knew it. Survived.
Another run on Stella: At extract.
I call the train. Run the length of the platform to see if someone is hiding in the dark. All clear.
Someone on the other platform, “hey! do you have a bandage for my friend?!”
“sure!”
This is solos and so I’m wary because I’m outnumbered. I pull back to one of the ramps stairs/ramps that leads to the platform. The train arrives. And waits. And waits. And waits.
I leave for another extract.
As I do, I hear the voice of the guy who called me “why did you call the train and not get on?”
Because I thought you were rats and would attack.
“no, it’s you! you are …
I primarily PvE and tried them all, but I didn’t find any particularly useful. Maybe it’s intended to not be a game changer. Is there something that I’m not seeing?
Kinetic converter: I just didn’t find the 15% increased rate of fire that useful considering the recoil increase.
Anvil splitter: The knock back can be useful in certain niche situations when a flying arc is really close to you, but with my play style that rarely happens.
Silencer 3: I like the sound it makes and would’ve rocked it if it wasn’t for the 20% increased burn rate.
Horizontal grip: I didn’t like the reduced ADS speed, however it works for Bettina.
Edit: People who’ve never seen the legendary mods yet, just do the trophy project)
