I’ve been working on [Oceanopolis 2000](https://store.steampowered.com/app/3808020/Oceanopolis_2000/), an underwater city-builder in the style of old tycoon games. It’s finally released on Steam, and in honor of the launch, it’s on sale for just $1.79.

The gameplay is fairly simple. Build up a city and balance resources. Keep your people happy, keep pollution low, keep the money coming, all that.

Last night, I finished the Crime and Punishment update, adding in the challenge of keeping crime low, keeping your citizens safe, and avoiding fraud. This morning, the game when live on Steam so people can check it out.

The next update, along with inevitable bug fixes and new buildings in every category, should add disasters into the game.

I’m surprised the sound of me puckering up didn’t alert it before I snuck out of there

Finally. I was getting tired of the wheezy screechy vaporizer noise.

So I went Topside to do the Caches Trial on Hidden Bunker at Spaceport. With lots of running and searching I finally got the score I was after so I headed back to an extract.

There was a guy dancing on a container, so I jumped up on the extract to start the dance-off while hearing a couple of Spotters coming our way.

Then my Internet crashed, and so did the game. Took me a good few minutes to restart it and luckily I could reconnect.

While loading back in the map, I could here players talking about what to do with me. “We could just leave him here” and “No, he might be back soon!”. As I spawned in, I was alive and on my feet and surrounded by 3 players.

As soon as the game would let me I told them I was back and thanked them for keeping me alive.

Turns out I got downed by ARC 3 times and each time they revived me, not knowing I had a Survivor Augment.

3 times they revived me and stood by my motionless body to see if I would come back to make it out!

Since there are 10 posts a day about “this guy shot me” or “why am I getting shot” or “bounty on this guys head for shooting me” or “make this game PvE!” Or any of the other 100 ridiculous complaints people have, and it’s somehow getting past the filters.

This is an extraction shooter. This means that you WILL get shot by raiders sometimes. Don’t like it? Shoot back. Don’t like shooting? Then don’t shoot and take your occasional death like a grown up.

Nobody likes losing loot.

Nobody likes feeling like they’re being taken advantage of.

So either don’t be an easy target and shoot back, or play more cautiously.

Sometimes you will lose loot.

Sometimes you will gain loot.

No, Embark won’t make an “Arc only” mode.

Yes, it would hurt the game if they did this.

Yes, there are meanies who will shoot you sometimes.

Yes, sometimes those meanies will even do it in unfair ways like camping the extract.

No, it’s not the developers responsibility to make sure this never happens to you. …

On god, this will probably be the first time I spend extra money on this game. I’ve wanted something like this since launch. So happy right now.

On January 16th, I was struck with a ban by embark. I didn’t really know what to do. I made an appeal, no response. There wasn’t really much more I could do at this point. I joined a discord server for victims and moved on. My ban finished and I thought maybe, just maybe, I would be able to play again. A week later I was rebanned. At this point there was no doubt it was a false ban. I was flat out certain of it. I decided to make a new ticket (my old one had just received a response after a month haha). I didn’t really have any evidence of me not cheating so I didn’t expect much. The response told me my ban was… valid! Unsurprising to be honest, everyone else had received a similar response. Until I logged back onto steam to see the lovely message above. I was unbanned… after being told I was definitely a cheater.
