Just a random thought that popped up in my head. Their consoles are pretty easy to emulate, but I’d happily purchase their titles officially if they were to ever come to PC (which they should do immediately, by the way!)
Halo Infinite only has two options for anti-aliasing: TAA Low or TAA High. There is no option to disable TAA.
Unfortunately, the TAA implementation in the game is heavy-handed. Playing at 1440p maxed out I feel like I’m forcing my monitor to run at 1080p. Not only that, but blurriness increases in motion.
It’s so bad that users are reporting even 4x supersampling via DSR does not remove the blurriness.
Ideally, the game would offer DLSS, but since AMD is sponsoring it I think that’s out of the question. Still, the game should offer some other AA techniques like SMAA, or at the very least an option to disable it altogether so we can try some driver-level adjustments.
Since Halo Infinite offers nothing except TAA it’s hard to say how the game would look like without TAA. But you can look through dozens of examples here of TAA in other games to see just how bad it is. Whatever you see in those screenshots, just know that it’s worse in motion because of …
