Genuinely curious as they could just make the queue to turn to the right following the canal instead of having it blocking two streets. The pic was taken next to a busy snack bar in J̶o̶r̶d̶a̶a̶n̶ Negen Straatjes.
EDIT: it’s not the Jordaan
So, this guy kept walking next to me, asking me to peek at his phone. I politely declined, but it started to make me feel uneasy. I grabbed my phone and wallet, popped them in my front pockets, and then started walking a little faster. I had my hotel key in my hand. He just kept walking, and then I got a strange feeling of urgency from him. I was about 10 metres from my hotel, so I tried to line up for it. That’s when he suddenly grabbed my neck! I had to elbow him in the stomach, and we both looked shocked. In his hand, he had my necklace, which had snapped off, and my neck was sore. Then he ran off.
I reported to the police. I had a minor injury to my neck. They were very kind and took down details but of course not much they can do to help.
I believe it was on this forum where I learned about being wary people asking you to look at their phone - a common trick apparently to distract you!
Hi! I used to work at the Van Gogh museum, and one of the biggest issues people seemed to have was buying our tickets online. The ticket sale is ONLY online. Here are my tips for buying tickets for your next (or first) trip to the museum:
Last week, we hosted the first English-speaking networking event for Entrepreneurs in Amsterdam Nieuw-West!
I had shared details of the event in this Reddit group and you all really showed your support, and showed up! :))
We had 70-80 attendees and a significant amount of you came via this group, so thank you admins and to everyone in this group.
I’ve shared some photos and following the great feedback, we’re coordinating plans for events in 2026. More details to come!
Thank you very much again! Dank u wel allemaal! ;)
ik heb dit ding gezien tijdens was ik aan het lopen. Wat is het?
Just had to rant - screencapped this from a LinkedIn post for a job in Amsterdam with a multinational company. Pays a maximum of roughly 3200 a month and they want someone who is an expert end-to-end video creator, podcast producer, graphic designer (even making trade fair stands) and marketer, who also manages a small team.
Unbelievable. The market is bad and these companies are just taking the pi$$. Just makes me so mad.
And to those who will accuse me again for being anti-free market or that i dont understand how supply and demand works, do your self a favour and understand that there are more than one “orthodox” way of comprehending and advocating for those concepts. Political ideas are not a monolith, try to build bridges in good faith with people who bring different perspectives, and stop being a priori obnoxious stereotypying them.
Is this the nltimes exaggerating as usual or indeed the situation is this embarrassing?
I have been staying with a friend in the Netherlands for the past few days and have noticed that many people dont have any curtains or even blinds. I have asked my friend but she’s not Dutch and doesn’t really know why herself. Is this just common in the eastern part of the country (my friend lives in a small town just outside Zwolle) or is it just the norm?
