I’ve stumbled upon a groupchat through a Capgemini employee group which essentially shows some pretty racist hiring tendencies by members of the Indian/ Hindu community in the Netherlands. Some of the contents are pretty shocking. There absolutely needs to be more awareness about this issue as it’s quickly becoming an elephant in the room. I’m thinking of reaching out to de Telegraaf or another newspaper about this. I’ve included a few screenshots and have a lot more contents. Let me know what you guys think or if anyone else has had personal experiences similar to mine.
I don’t mind the random checks at Albert Heijn. Seriously. Random means random, whatever.
What I do mind is how badly they’re handled.
You scan your items, pack everything nicely, and before you pay, you get selected. An employee takes everything out of your bag, scans it, and then just leaves it all there. Empty bag. Groceries all over the counter. Your problem now.
And the funniest part? There are usually two or three employees standing around chatting and doing absolutely nothing, yet somehow putting the items back in the bag is beyond them.
No one is asking for premium service or hand holding. Just basic competence. If you take the items out, put them back. It’s not rocket science.
The system is fine. The execution and the customer service are just bad.
Is this really considered normal here?
Hey, I saw a post on the sub offering a guestroom and it inspired me to do the same. In fact, I work for KLM in a non-costumer facing role (so don’t message me for updates and such haha).
I have a large flat about 25 minutes away from Schiphol, directly on the Bus Line369 which takes you direct to the airport. I have an office room which I can quickly convert to have a double mattress on the floor. It’s not a fancy hotel room but you’ll have a key that can lock the door if it makes you feel safe, a hot shower and warm food.
I don’t want to give too much public information to dox myself but I’m an early 30s male, speak English & French fluently along with a bit of Spanish.
Note: This is of course free, no tikkie or such involved haha. This is currently an offer for the evening of Jan-09. I am taking this day by day depending on travel conditions.

I’m an expat-turned-immigrant - let’s be real here, if you live here for over 5 years and plan to stay long-term, I don’t think you should still call yourself expat 😅! Just wanted to share my personal reflection.
I’ve been investing lots of time and effort into learning Dutch and actively speaking it to friends and my boyfriend’s family the past 2 years, and now I can finally say that I’m fluent enough to talk and follow most daily conversations and casual gatherings. Since then, I’ve realised that you can perfectly live in The Netherlands, Randstad in particularly, only speaking English, like I did before, but you kinda forever live in a bubble - or worse, almost like a parallel society.
I’m able to join local events in my buurt, casually jumping into a chat with neighbours when they are chatting, start getting invited to events in Dutch that before my Dutch friends assumed that I’d not be interested because of language barrier. …
Look at him, he’s standing there with such pride and power, even despite his age he still remains a proud soldier. As Gen. MacArthur once said “old soldiers don’t die, they just fade away”. It’s also weird to see this and think that i literally have a picture in the same exact spot where he’s standing, right in front of Gen. Maczek’s monument.
