On the 1 april 2001, at exactly midnight, the very first legal same-sex marriages were performed, not just in the Netherlands, but anywhere in the world. Four couples said âI do,â and in doing so, they became part of history.
This wasnât just a symbolic moment. It marked the first time a country fully recognized marriage equality in law, setting the stage for a global movement that would follow in the years after.
(Note to long term users of this subreddit: this is a repeat of earlier posts I made about rent control in NL. I feel its prudent to post something like this every so often so newbies and random users may become aware that they might be overpaying on their rent. The Mods permit me to post this as long as I leave a 3 month gap between posts)
Hi
I am Shane. I screw landlords for a living.
For the past four years I have being identifying rental properties on Pararius, Funda and occasionally kamernet that have rent prices that can be reduced through legal action at the Huurcommissie (the rent commission) then posting them over on my subreddit r/Rentbusters
To say the Netherlands has a housing problem would be an understatement. Supply is low, demand is high and many renters in Amsterdam are spending over 50% of their income on shitty small apartments and are caught in a vicious cycle: unable to save enough money to buy a house but getting crushed by rents that exceed a monthly âŚ
Enkele foto’s die ik op 28 maart heb gemaakt van de historische trams. De donkerblauwe tram stamt uit 1910.
Some photos I took on 28 March 2026 of the historic trams. The dark blue one is from 1910.
Spotted 4 in total, didnât realise they had an Israeli community⌠đ

Iâm writing this hoping it might help at least one person.
About an hour ago I was harassed by a man on a tram that was full of people. While we were standing, he suddenly started touching me between my thighs. At first I didnât realize what was happening. I thought it was someoneâs bag or backpack. Once I understood, I immediately moved away.
It took me about a minute to regain my composure and tell the conductor in the booth. Iâm incredibly grateful to the women who were there and immediately came to help me. They talked to me, calmed me down, and made me feel at least a bit safer. They even offered to take me to the police station. Unfortunately the man fled as soon as the tram stopped.
Iâm really thankful for them, but I want to add one thing: if this ever happens and youâre helping someone, please avoid hugging the victim. It can sometimes complicate things later at the police station when theyâre trying to document evidence.
I called my boyfriend and he took me to the police âŚ
Streaming in the Netherlands used to feel like a cheaper, simpler alternative to cable, but that doesnât really hold up anymore. Now it feels like you need multiple subscriptions just to follow a few shows.
With platforms like Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime Video, and HBO Max all splitting content, it adds up quickly. Prices keep going up, while everything gets more fragmented.
At some point, it stops being convenient and just becomes a bit tiring to keep switching between apps hoping to find something worth watching.
Back when I was a student I came up with the same recipe I get at Wok to Walk every single time. White rice, shrimps, tofu, pineapple and Bangkok sause. Screenshots I have added show the price change for the last 7 years.
Would I be able to afford going to Wok to Walk in another 7 years ?
bought this from Volmar last Friday. On the first bite, I bit into a metal piece that looks like a nail. I couldnât believe my eyes! Now I have many more questionsâwhere can I file a complaint?
