Dota 2 officially launched on Steam on July 9, 2013. Although the closed beta began back in 2011, today is generally considered the game’s official birthday.

Over the past 13 years, Dota has changed almost beyond recognition. Here is a look back at the major updates that shaped the game.

2013 — Official Release and Three Spirits. Ember Spirit and Earth Spirit were added, Storm Spirit received a major update, Diretide returned, and Valve introduced coaching, crafting, item sockets, and several new progression systems.

2014 — Techies and More In-Game Events. Techies finally joined the roster. Valve also added All Random Deathmatch, the All-Hero Challenge, trophies, and several interface improvements.

2015 — Dota 2 Reborn. The entire game was moved to Source 2. Valve rebuilt the main menu and interface, improved performance, and introduced proper support for custom games.

This update eventually helped give rise to thousands of custom modes, including Overthrow and Dota Auto Chess. …

I see Drow in like 60% of my games and its starting to get annoying. This character is SO strong in lane its basically impossible to win offlane against drow. Its pretty hard to dive or gank her too because her multishot basically clears the entire wave as soon as she gets it to lvl 4 and she can silence for 3 whole seconds with lvl 1 gust.

Even after laning phase, Drow never slows down.. once she builds manta and shadow blade she becomes one of the best assassins in the game killing supps in like 4 rightclicks. she completely destroys regen heroes and illusion heroes with her scepter

She has INSANE sieging power when she buys her shard which gives her a 25% bonus dmg and 200 attack range, just for for standing on her ice cube.

Maybe i just havent learnt how to play against her properly but to me it just feels like she does way too much and i wouldnt mind seeing her get a nerf in the next patch.

Measuring how many seconds you save if you use the river bonus

TLDR: I would forget to use the river if my tp was on cd, using the river is faster.

If you die with your tp on cooldown and you want to return to the safelane, you can use the river to save roughly 4 and a half seconds (in this scenario). The time you save varies based on your heroes movement speed (you save more time if you have low movement speed).

Approximate time saved:
Without boots: 4.5 seconds
With boots: 3 seconds

This could matter if you make it just in time for the creep wave and you could combine this with a smoke of deceit to move even faster.

I am the supervisor at the very real Baroness Hotel in Seattle, Washington.



We have noticed a massive surge in Google reviews for our hotel that are clearly referencing the game Deadlock (specifically around the service and the “ginger-haired doorman”).



While we understand this is meant as a community joke or in good fun, it is unfortunately having a severe, unintended impact on our actual business and livelihood.



Here is why this is hurting us:



The translation issue: During the summer, a large percentage of our guests are international travelers who do not speak English fluently. They rely heavily on translating our Google reviews to decide if they want to stay with us. When they read machine-translated reviews saying our service is terrible or our staff is hostile, they don’t realize it’s a video game reference—they just see a warning to …

With the lack of content in recent times, I wanted to highlight 1 Workshop artist I enjoyed seeing submit his work over the yrs for Dota.

Although he collaborates with other peers from time to time, this particular artist is Sith Happens.

You can check out his workshop page here.

He’s submitted many sets, some of which have made it into the game, but many haven’t. I thought it’ll be nice to showcase a few of the ones that aren’t in game yet, since it’s fun & nice to see. Many of these sets are a decade old, yet still hold up to todays standards in my opinion, enjoy.

Move the spawn so the Window in the Hideout makes an EYE!

Based on the placement of the character in spawn the top window decoration can make an eye, but needs to be moved slightly on a character by character basis. YOSHI please fix!!!

Seven buff idea: have him say "I would stand out in the open, preferably within a 10m radius of me, if I were you." when activating ult. Right now he tells the enemy to hide, which is actually bad for him, since they don't get damaged if they do.

It is genuinely impressive that they managed to make a character with zero redeeming qualities as likeable as Vyper

She isn’t a character who “deep down” has anything going for her. She isn’t even like a lot of the other evil characters where you can at least respect their ambition or how threatening they are. She’s a piece of shit, and she also has some of the best interactions and voicelines in the game. Insanely great character writing.

(Also please give her a new model already Valve. I’m begging at this point.)
