Quick rant: By calling the program “shortcuts,” Apple made it unnecessarily difficult to search for documentation online (and even introduce the program to new users). Everything I try to google while troubleshooting brings up “keyboard shortcuts” and other unrelated results. A more unique name that isn’t so vague would have made it so much easier to differentiate true Shortcuts (capital S) from generic shortcuts (lowercase s).
Anyone have any tricks they use for getting more relevant search results?
The only podcast I’ve ever really listened to was the tiny meat gang podcast and last podcast on the left, I’m looking for something with similar humour as the tmg podcast, any suggestions? Thanks in advance
Podcast listeners of Reddit what are your most recommended podcasts of all time? Thanks!
Seasons or multi-parters! I asked favorite individual episodes a few months back and was thrilled will all the amazing responses I got. Would love to hear what seasons or multi-part podcasts have stuck with you for one reason or another. My personal top 5 are…
Without a doubt the best season of any podcast I have ever heard. Wish I could hear it again for the first time!
Hardcore History - Supernova in the East (Parts 1-6)
There is no history podcast host with a better ability to relate the impact, scope and humanity of historical events like Dan Carlin. This is the most interesting and well-researched account of the pacific theater of WWII you can listen to. Everything will stick in your mind.
Casefile - The Silk Road (Parts 1-3)
Far and away the most thorough and well-communicated true crime podcast out there. This multi-parter on the Silk Road website and it’s complex history is amazing and I think about it several times a week.
I don’t like doing cardio, and podcasts really help. What’s a really addictive podcast to listen while doing cardio?
Something that is really entertaining and not super brainy. I like the podcast Juicy scoop, but I’ve listened to all the episodes. Same with Last Podcast on the left. True crime is fine, as long as it’s not super preachy like crime junkie.
What podcasts do you listen to that don’t have advertisers? I know there are a lot of channels/services that have premium ad-free versions of podcasts (Stitcher, iHeart, Audible, etc) and that is great, but I am always out for something a little bit off the beaten path. So I’m thinking of shows not affiliated with a channel or doing ad-reads. Even if it might be on the roadmap for the show in the future.
Some examples I’m subbed to
Most of these are pretty big in their respective Genres, so I might be tarnishing my hipster cred.
I would rather not have shows which exists to promote a brand or tv show.
I just want to say thank you to everyone who takes the time to make podcasts; even the ones I don’t listen to. You make the world a bit less lonely.
Here’s some books I liked in this vein:
Piranesi
Borne
Annihilation
The Etched City
Gormenghast
The Pastel City
Book Of The New Sun
House Of Leaves
So something kind of like these?
My favorite aspect of apocalyptic fiction (and unsurprisingly, the part that scares me the most) is the “tipping point”.
Do you know what I mean?
Where you see the looming threat finally start to really effect the protagonists/antagonists; where the weak seams holding society together start to obviously let go.
Basically the part where shit’s just on the precipice of going south & holy shit are we in for a harrowing ride!
I think that Stephen King’s The Stand did a great job of scratching that particular itch for me, just to give you a sense of what I’m looking for.
My preferences trend towards horror/sci-fi, so if you’ve got any suggestions, I’d very much appreciate a heads up.
Thanks!
Please suggest me the most unique book that you have ever read, also it needs to be a book that you have enjoyed !
I’m open to really any kind of genres and I just want to read something original/bizarre/unique
I’ve been seriously seeing a lady now for 6 months who has a 10yo kid, and although I am no substitute for this child’s biological father or mother, I would like to engage with her in meaningful ways. I don’t have any kids of my own though, and have never spent much time interacting with children.
Can anyone suggest me a book about parenting or being a step-parent or anything of the sort so that I can communicate with my partner’s kid better and be an active positive influence in her life (or any personal advice while you’re at it)?
Thank you in advance!
Ive always liked the idea of having a home camp setup where through upgrades and time it gets better. Payday 2 had a base like this. read Dead Redemption 2 also has a camp that has a similar idea to what I want. Even fallout 4 was alright with its settlements. Even better with mods that revamped them.
Recent games I’ve loved:
Hollow Knight (any metroidvania)
Prey
Souls Games
Binding of Isaac, Hades, Rogue Legacy
Slay the Spire (SO addicting)
All Resident Evil games

I’m currently playing Dying Light 2 and it’s just boring fetch quest after fetch quest. I want something I can get lost in, something addicting.
Tell us about the game and why you love it and why you think we should all try it.
Sometimes you have a game in your head that you can’t wait to suggest but the opportunity never comes up because people aren’t asking for “obscure action adventure games from the 90s with an isometric point of view in a semi open world sci-fi universe with magic”, for example.
Tell us about that game you’re dying for more people to enjoy because you love it and they should too, damn it!
Something along these lines anyway, the genres and platforms don’t matter. The Sims series or Tomodachi Life are a few examples of what I mean. Bonus points if there’s a lot of customization!
I have tried getting my girlfriend into playing computer games so we could spend more time while in a long-distance relationship — due to quarantine. A little insight on my GF, she’s a rage quitter and not much of an avid gamer. Complains about Minecraft being and I quote, “too blocky and complicated.” Blames me for not helping her and leaves the game within the first 15 minutes. Games we tried but ultimately failed in: Borderlands 3, Minecraft, It Takes Two, Terraria, Portal.
Woman does not like horror games, I found that the hard way.
UPDATE: She likes Doom 2016! I let her scroll through my steam account and she had quite a fun time playing the game while I was in the background spectating her. Maybe she does like some games after all, just some that makes her feel like a badass ripping and tearing demons. So far so good, thank you to everyone in the comment section. :)
EDIT:: Platform is PC mainly, but Switch is also a possibility. Only switch games that work in handheld though - I have a switch lite.
I realize strife and what I consider “depressing themes” are often important for driving the story forward, but I feel like all the recent games I have found that have an interesting story get pretty dark more than not. Granted, many of them are games I went into fully knowing it was going to have those themes but I did not always realize just HOW dark or HOW depressing they were going to get, if that makes sense.
I’m struggling a bit more than usual lately with depression and such and think it might be a good idea to find a game(s) with a bit more positive of a tone throughout.
For example Haven is not all sunshine and rainbows, but overall the game is very sweet and touching. I can never seem to find many games with a story that feels like that. Most “happy” games seem to lack a story at all and focus more on the art, …
