I have been a paid user of MyFitnessPal since at least 2016 (if not before). I am disappointed in the lack of Dark Mode, but more so with the lack of Shortcuts support. This is one the premiere food tracking apps! It’s very frustrating that these basic features are not supported.
I need to listen to something that maybe, in a way to also make me smile and laugh, would remind me to keep living and go forward when you’re just so stuck and depressed and lonely or surrounded by toxic people who don’t care about you.. is there any good ones?
They post “new episode”, but they’re not new, they aired years ago.
Has anyone else had enough of this guy? Love the stories, but his comments are misogynistic and cringey- I just can’t anymore
I’m specifically looking for something along the lines of Hidden Brain’s “My Unsung Hero”—where people tell stories about when somebody did something great to/for them, or perhaps uplifting stories of/conversations with people who are doing good for the world/humanity.
A podcast that really makes you think, “Hey, maybe humans aren’t so bad after all.”
Any recommendations?
I also like podcasts about neuroscience and psychology or Ted talk-style if nobody has any podcast ideas that fit the previous criteria.
Hey all,
I love random esoteric information that I get from this show. I’m curious if there are any other podcasts similar to “The Weirdest Thing I Learned This Week.” Doesn’t have to be science-related.
So I pay for Spotify premium, and for a little while, I tried to listen to some podcasts on it…but then I realized that literally everything that I found had 10% or more of the time, and in a few cases like 40%, filled up by sponsor representation. Even the story-based ones, where you’d expect them to be somewhat like audiobooks, had 3-4 minute sections dedicated to sponsorship mentions. Often those sections had content mixed in with the advertising too, which made it so that you couldn’t really skip the stuff.
Are there any good exceptions to this rule?
I want to read about people and places that are does not remind me of the western world (Russia of course not a part, but the Russian literature classics are well known and I’m looking for more obscure stuff).
I’d like to read the best literature of Africa, of Asia, the Arab world, the Balkan etc.
Just getting myself immersed in different cultures and places.
I’d love any recommendations!
EDIT: Thank you so much!! I’m gonna have enough reading material for the next year at least, and I’m glad you helped me find it
An example would be Lolita by Nabokov, I think that book was beautifully written it’s was immersive and gorgeous, but the plot was disturbing yet intriguing. Anything similar to this? Thanks
Edit: I’m sorry I can’t reply to everyone but if you have at least 2 upvotes take it as my thank you I appreciate all of these even if I’ve read/been recommended before thank youu :)
I wanna find my next reading! Thanks! Edit: *which is which So sorry for my mistake! I’m embarrassed 😞
What are some good sci-fi books written by women? I’ve read plenty by men, and I only recently realized this blindspot that I had for female sci-fi authors. If the books also involve elements of fantasy, that’s ok, but I’d prefer straight sci-fi.
Edit: Wow, you all really came through. I’m currently going through and adding things to my list. I’m excited to read these. Thank you all so much!
Recently I’ve been trying to learn more about the indigenous people in America, but many of the books I’ve been recommended were written by white people, and while I’m not saying that a white person cannot be knowledgeable about Native American history and culture, I’m pretty sure an actual indigenous person would be able to tell it best.
It doesn’t have be be actually witchy, but old or ancient witch/midwife/healer vibes. I want to read about the plants and herbs they’re growing, what they do with them. It could be a botanist or a gardener even, but I want to feel their connection with what they grow. I don’t prefer a situation where this person is too overtly threatened with violence. Something sort of gentle and warm would be ideal. It can be straight fiction, historical fiction, or even magical.
I’m craving this vibe, and I remember feeling it before but I can’t pinpoint it. I hope it exists!
Edit: Thank you all so much for the recommendations, commentary, and for looking out for the ways I’m feeling sensitive to certain content right now. I have a fantastic list for now, and for when I’m feeling a little less raw. By all means, keep them coming, but I really wanted to express my gratitude. This, too, has been magical!
This may be a fantasy, but I’m looking for a game that’s an rpg and you can basically do “anything”. I’ve tried Kenshi, it was alright for a bit, would prefer 1st person but it’s not a requirement. Tried Skyrim and I couldn’t get into it, I may try again. A game that has possible jobs is always good. For example you have the ability to be a bounty hunter, kidnap nobles for ransom, drug deal, etc. Maybe not all in the same game but to have options and know there isn’t only one way is always exciting to me. Games heavy on relations are good, more so diplomatic decisions with characters.
I’m looking for a game where salvaging or scavenging is the main gameplay loop, but not in the same vein as Rust.
I’ve tried Hardspace: Shipbreaker and found it a bit slow.
I’d like something where it’s like go to a place, maybe fight some bads, loot the area for upgrade and stuff to sell, return to base, upgrade, etc. Procedural maps would be awesome for the randomness. Not looking for a huge challenge, more like something I can pick up and put down as I have time. Casual exploring and looting.
I’m very afraid of the deep water and it could be the best horror settings, fortunately subnautica fill the void very well but i grew bored playing survival games and looking for other genre than survival but underwater still. Any genre is fine but i want it singleplayer if possible
Hello. I like games and i really want to play elden ring and some AAA games that interests me but i don’t have good pc specs and much time due to the time i study.
Basically something that gives me the Fable 3 experience but something less shallow.
