Hi all,
I’ve been getting very annoyed when I want to send a video to somebody over Discord, and I have to go upload it to a third-party site first. Even happens with images sometimes! I made a shortcut called “Discord Shrinker.” It will appear in the share sheet and supports both photos and videos, and will automatically apply the correct encoding based on the input type. It uses 640x480 as the default, but the quality drop is not nearly as noticeable as you’d expect, and you could always change this after. Hope this is useful to some!

It’s absolutely hilarious but I don’t know anyone who listens to it. It’s on spotify and https://www.whoshatontheflooratmywedding.com/
The premise is… well, people discover a shit on a floor at their wedding. It’s on a boat, so it’s a real closed box mystery. The brides and an investigator spend the podcasts interrogating potential suspects. It’s hysterical.
What I like about this podcast is that it is interesting enough to keep my mind from wandering and fast paced so that every minute is entraining by itself.
For example, WTF’s conversation with Sacha Baron Cohen. It was so funny and interesting. Marc essentially ended it with “wow, that guy had a bunch of great stories he wanted to unload”.
What would you recommend?
Really liked Natalia Lafourcade, Alicia Keys and Mac Miller. Was wondering if you had any that stood out?
Edit- y’all are amazing. My queue is already crazy ridiculous. Appreciate this let’s me indulge all my musical tastes. I love good music no matter the genre so I appreciate all the feedback. Keep ‘em coming :D
Hi,
I reached the deepest hole in the soul. I am no longer enthusiastic about anything. I am feeling that I don’t love anything or anyone. I work full-time in the construction industry as a BIM coordinator if this helps with your recommendation. I also was planning to do a Ph.D. but now I don’t think I am mentally prepared.
Is there any podcast to lift my feelings?
Sort of like NYT Retro Report, I’m looking for something that just has more context with time and the hosts are able to do a deep dive now that there’s more information available. Bonus points if it’s about US politics, where daily news can trickle in and out but it feels rare to get a really summed and complete picture. Thanks!
i’m a huge literary dork. i want to read evocative, artistic sentences. i want to feel like the author has described to me how colors taste. this becomes an issue for me in steamier books. i’ve lowered my standards as much as i reasonably can. but i’m tired of reading dialogue and gaslighting myself into believing i didn’t just read that so i don’t just close the book and burn it. i just want to read something steamy that isn’t corny and embarrassing for once. it doesn’t even have to be technically erotic or whatever. i beg. i plead.
I’m recovering from surgery and reading voraciously. I’m looking for modern things that aren’t necessarily horror or sci-fi, but can include some elements. No body horror!
Similar things I’ve liked:
-Nightbitch
-Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke
-Devil House
-My Year of Rest and Relaxation
edit: please, I beg of you, quit suggesting House of Leaves
I was wondering if anyone can give me any recommendations for books that are very similar to the show Stranger Things? Books featuring things like supernatural beings, superpowers, government experiments, conspiracies, teenagers saving the world, budding friendships, retro feels, etc.
I love the show and love to read. I have tried Google searches but nothing I’ve found is what I’m looking for.
Also yes I know that there are official Stranger Things books, I already have those.
Recently I have been reading and I asked my 11 year old son if he would like to start reading as well. Me knowing he isn’t much of a reader I thought he would say no. Instead his reply was for me to get him murder mystery books. 🤦♀️
I asked him why he wanted books like that and he said he was just interested in that kind of stuff. When we were on our last vacation he feel asleep to watching wipe out. When he woke up in the middle of the night he said murder mystery stories were on TV and he stayed up watching it. 😞 Not a proud mommy moment.
Can anyone suggest any books his age appropriate? I’m more of a romance book reader so this is far beyond what I know.
I just turned 30 last week and honestly, this is the worst year by far. I’m sick, I was dumped by bf, mentally broke down, and a lot more that I don’t want to remember. It makes me so nervous and scared for the upcoming future. I feel out of place in this world.
Please suggest to me some books to calm me down and give me some hope for a better life. It could be good to have a protagonist around the same age, but actually whatever book is fine.
Thanks, hope you all have a great day!
Any story, any genre, doesn’t matter. I just want to find books whose illustrated cover(s) show the back view of someone’s body, or multiple bodies. PLEASE and thank you!!!
For clarification: I’ve been asked to illustrate a book cover for the first time and I need some inspiration. Preferably half to full body, not nude. :)
Title, basically. I just love rain in general, and I’d love to know about more games that portray it really well.
My contenders are probably RDR2 and maybe GTA IV. Feel free to tell me about yours ofc
There’s no emotional cure for getting a surprise tumor in your early 20s, but any distraction is a welcome one. I consider myself to be pretty damn good at suggesting indie games, but I’m a bit stumped on this one. I’m working off of what she likes about Stardew and how she plays it.
#Here are the requirements:
##1 - Starts deceptively simple but slowly reveals deep gameplay systems
As a beginner to most game genres, she might not appreciate jumping straight into a huge crafting menu or survival stats sheet. Also twitch combat/platforming should be de-emphasized.
##2 - Can run on an older laptop with a touchpad
Otherwise I’d do Slime Rancher! A lot of recent 3D games would be too intensive. Anything with mouse-based twitch movement can be frustrating when playing in bed.
##3 - Has a charming/homely aesthetic
Otherwise I’d do Factorio! Anything approaching spooky/depressing/apocalyptic will be interpreted as too serious, ‘for …
Hey,
I’ve been wondering if there are other games than M&B II : Bannerlord where you start as a nobody and can end up managing an empire/country/large city etc.
Basically from rags to riches games.
Hi everyone! I know there’s a glut of titles like the above and I’m just now getting into that ‘genre’ and I’m super overwhelmed.
I loved Persona 5’s confidant level up system, and of course there’s farming games like Stardew valley, but I haven’t play any other games in that vein and wondering which ones are the “must play”.
Thank you!
Edit: Awesome suggestions everyone, can’t wait to try out some of these!
Hi all.
I love games that have a feature where you make interesting choices and the game automates features.
Some examples:
Dragon Age series has a tactics button where you set up instructions and priorities for your AI companions e.g. target enemy mages first, use taunt on an enemy attacking an ally with less than 25% hp, pop a potion automatically if mana falls below 10%, use your big physical damage ability on an enemy with an armor reduction debuff
Final Fantasy (12? I think) has a similar system to the one above.
Teamfight Tactics / other auto chess games: Literally you are just choosing champions, buffs and items and the fighting is all automated. It’s all about creating powerful synergies.
That free Pokemon game (Pokemon Quest, I think?) where you’re choosing a team of 3 pokemons and swapping out their abilities and giving them different food to eat and items to hold.
Not directly comparable, but my favourite game of all time is XCOM2 and I think I derive the …
