Hi all!
I would love to hear about your favorite NFC tag uses. It would also be awesome if you could share any troubleshooting you hard to go through to get things just the way you wanted.
TIA!
Hi all. I tried searching r/podcasts for pods talking about sex and I didn’t find anything. I have been listening to the Dildorks which is fun but I’m interested in different perspectives. Queer content is very welcome but I would also love to hear if anyone knows about inclusive, open, straight perspectives. Educational, emotional, anything playful or deep, poly, mono, whatever. Thanks!
I am obsessed with history podcasts, but am forced to listen to the same 3-4 over and over again because there are so few hosts that craft a compelling narrative. There’s a reason why Dan Carlin always starts his shows with a “big idea” that is abstract and acts as a metaphor to tie the episode as a whole together.
99% of history podcasts just start telling you the names of people and places and dates, and at best, will tell you what “a country did, or thought at a particular time”, without ever getting into the individual psychologies of the leaders, or the sociology of the people. Because of the nature of an audio medium (no visual maps to look at, no turning back the page to to remember a name), it’s so important that the host characterize the people in the story, which is so incredibly rare. I’ve listened to a lot of the pods recommended on Reddit (should I name them?( and many of the big ones are guilty of this. 2 minutes in and …
I love listening to behind the bastards but after too much it can get depressing. I recently listen to an episode of his that was The offset and essentially about a hero. I’m wondering if there is a Podcasts that fits this criteria?
I found this serial podcast (7 episodes + bonus) about lyme disease via keyword search and I thought it was really good, so I came here to recommend it. Interesting story telling, good variety of topics and theories around lyme disease and it’s history, the status quo and attempts for future treatments. Well balanced and well researched as far as I can tell. Interesting not only for people who are into medicine. Have fun!
I dove into Crime Show the beginning of this year and was just totally enamored. As a lover of true crime and all things offbeat, their telling of unique and lesser known stories had me hooked.
Recently they’ve been bumming episodes off of other podcasts (which is normally something I’m not opposed to bc it’d good to branch out) but I feel as though the quality of the stories has dropped and they just can’t keep my interest anymore
I listen to podcasts when I get up with my baby at night and I just worked my way through the back catalogue of The Land of Desire, a show about French culture. It was perfect and it made me almost happy to have to get up so I’m trying to find the next show that ticks some of the same boxes.
Yes, I have listened to This is Love, which would also be …
Hi guys,
First time posting!
Title says it all really - I like modern day stuff, with a juicy twist (or multiple - the more, the merrier!) which really makes you rethink everything you just read in the book.
I sway towards crime, but am interested in any genres really!
Thanks in advance for any recommendations! <3
Hi everybody! I’m looking for books suggestions. *English is not my first langage, French is, so sorry for the errors.
I’m looking for the next generational books (like Harry Potter, Twilight or Hunger Games have been)?
My problem is, most of the books I’m interested in are too easy to read or too childish in the characters building, emotions or relations. And when I try more advanced books like LOTR, I’m bored, because of all the details and so little going on in the story.
I’m 24 years old. The books I loved the most are Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Percy Jackson, Divergents. In a totally different style, I loved books like Dan Brown, Sherlock Holmes, 1984, The Giver, etc.
The problem is, Percy Jackson or The Maze Runner now seems too childish for me.
I love fantasy, YA, sci-fi, thriller or crime books.
If it can help, I loved watching The Hundred, Ready Player One, Game of Thrones, Prison Break, Casa de Papel, Suits, Sex Ed, etc.
I like to visit new world with amazing …
Title says it all. Not sure if Dr Seuss would cut it. My friend is a bibliophile but knows what she likes. I never read/was never read to as a child so I’m a bit lost. Any help would be appreciated.
EDIT: wow, one day and I’m looking at 1200 comments. Thank you all for the suggestions. I think I’ll have books to cover quite a few birthdays. I plan to start combing through the comments in the coming days to try to thank you all. Till then, I sincerely in all of your debts.
I cried for a while because I was so angry that it keeps happening very often. Too often. Fiction or even self help would be appreciated💞 I’m just so angry right now. With me, with those men, with everyone.
Edit: i just wanna thank everyone for your suggestions! I’m writing them all down and checking them out. Hopefully I can read all of them in the next few months together with my other reads.
Also thank you to r those who suggested movies!! I am always wanting new movies to watch since I don’t really watch a lot of them.
Im just curious to know and maybe may pick one or two up. It doesn’t have to be life changing. It could even be a book that just changed your perspective on some aspects of the world.
One book i read some time ago was The Choice by Dr Edith Ega which i really enjoyed.
So I’ve been slacking off because of stuffs and I want to go back to reading . The last book I read was “It Ends With Us” . I am very much into apocalypse works, something bout it fascinates me and draws me in. The horror and desolation of the settings of these books is an outwardly experience for me. Therefore I really want a book that resonates with me. If possible plz do add some free websites where I could read them.
maybe its weird but I love watching AI fight each other in games, I always have. any instance where I get to see the AI’s brains go toe to toe, whether it be a strategy game, or enemies in a shooter, I’m all for it?
So what are some good games for getting to watch AI fight against each other?
Howdy all.
I am a huge fan of film/video game soundtracks. My ‘Instrumental’ playlist on my phone has thousands of songs from video games of all different genres, and I’m always looking for more. So lay em on me. Here’s some of the more common ones that I already have and/or am familiar with:
Skyrim (super amazing)
Oblivion
Morrowind (the one that got me into video game soundtracks)
Stellaris
Talos Principle (also amazing)
Crusader Kings 2
World of Warcraft
Shadowrun Dragonfall: Director’s Cut
Diablo 2
Deus Ex (truly unique)
Witcher 3
Supergiant Games’ Titles

More where that came from, but these are the most popular ones I suppose. As you can see, I’m a big Jeremy Soule fan. I love all kinds of genres (sci-fi, jrpg, action adventure) but fantasy is my numero uno. Cellos, violins, harps etc. are music to my ears…heh. So show me what you got!
Games that will just destroy me emotionally 👍
Edit: I didn’t think I’d get this many comments nor get any awards for this post. Thank you all so much for the amazing recommendations I’ll try to play as many of them as I can!
Well, I was reading some Game of Thrones and was struck by the effort spent on describing how slow information makes its way to various characters. How an force might be sent by a commander somewhere a few day’s travel away to fight, and the commander has no way of getting updates from them other than by sending a rider out to deliver a message from them and will really have no idea what’s happened until after it’s all done.
I can think of many many strategy, rst, 4x, and grand strategy games that give the player perfect information of everything that happens and I can’t think of any that does it this way. Sure, some games like Crusader Kings might let you pay to send an assassin to kill someone at a 40% within 6 months of in-game time, but that doesn’t really scratch that itch imo.
I’m looking for a game where the slowness or fuzziness of information is sort of a core feature. I can’t really say if it would be any fun to play, but I’d …
