IOS 16 Shortcuts - No Notifications & No Banners - for Custom Icons by u/ralfisralf - Uses ScreenTime workaround.
Remove Shortcuts Banner using Do Not Disturb toggle - see screenshot by /u/mvan231. The banner slightly peeks and could interfere with those that have DND scheduled and if you happen to run your HS icon, DND will become turned off.
Alternatively you can use the Voice Control Off method and as mentioned above, the banner will have a slight peek but is a workaround for those that rely on DND focus to be active.

Re: NPR’s Serial: Baltimore prosecutors filed a motion to vacate the murder conviction of Adnan Syed, a man who has maintained his innocence after he was convicted in 2000 of killing his high school ex-girlfriend, Hae Min Lee.
I largely think of this pod as the one that set off a boom in the industry. Wild to see this case is still playing out.
Reply All used to be my favorite podcast. Gimlet went through some major changes last year and I was super disappointed in the way it was handled, and Reply All without PJ just wasn’t the same at all. And now it’s defunct.
The closest podcast that I’ve found is Blocked and Reported. Are there any other podcasts that replicate the same feel as Reply All? Specifically ones that cover silly internet nonsense, and have segments like Yes, Yes, No. There used to be a podcast from Buzzfeed called “Internet Explorer” but they haven’t updated in forever. I just want a podcast that will fill me in on the silly internet things, not just drama and frustrating things. Episodes like the WeRateDogs one from Reply All. Explaining tweets that make zero sense when read out loud to someone who isn’t immersed in internet silly fun times. Ideally, I’d love one that didn’t cover politics, or at least didn’t feature it all the time.
Any …
I used to really enjoy Joe Rogan podcasts in the early days but I can’t bring myself to listen anymore because its so flooded with misinformation and disinformation.
I’d love to find some podcasts that follow a similar format but put effort into accuracy of information and have their guests vetted beforehand.
I really like the CBC podcast Quirks and Quarks but it can be a bit dry at times.
Also I’m not looking for an “Anti-Joe Rogan” who parrots opposing views for the sake of it.
not sure if this is the right sub, but neither is r/spotify so direct me pls if there is a place
i listen to podcasts on spotify premium and recently noticed that some parcast podcasts specifically have lots of external ads
for example: listening to the first episode of Cold Cases and wasnt really paying full attention so after i skipped the external ads i went backwards to listen to the segment again only to have to go thru the external ads again, why is this a thing? i understand the internal ads promoting their other podcasts but why do i have to hear the sponsor ads if im on premium?
edit: hey guys thanks for the answer that we got within an hour of posting, and No Thank You to anyone trying to preach about how awful spotify is - i dont care(: also did no one actually read my post? so many people said “you can skip them tho did you know!!!” yeah i said that in the op, LMAO y’all crazy abt ur podcasts
Somehow simultaneously frustrating and hilarious. The family discussions get absolutely wild. Chad has other podcasts as well, game of roses and dudesy are the other ones I know. But this one has me addicted

Looking for a few books for my wife for Christmas and she absolutely loved A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towels. Loved that it was beautifully written, and that the entire book had a feeling of calm about in the sense that nothing really goes wrong. Any suggestions along those lines would be appreciated
I absolutely loved Salt Fat Acid Heat because it focused on techniques rather than recipes, which became part of my cooking process, independently of the actual food I’m cooking. Please throw me anything that does the same
I’m very interested in war time stories. I don’t really care which wars. Revolution, Vietnam, WWI, WWII, Spanish Civil war, seriously anything. I’m very open. Doesn’t have to revolve around wars, but I really want to learn some history with a good story.
PLEASE no holocaust because my soul can’t bear anymore. It breaks me!
Thankx!!!
EDIT: Thank you all so much for your amazing and thoughtful suggestions! I have a list as long as my arm to read and I think I’ll have enough to get me through 2024 or 2025! I’m truly blown away and completely stoked to start working though this list! Y’all are the best!
So since reading 1984 for the third time I really need something that is similarly as tragic and intelligent and dystopian as that.
Please help because I cannot read any book and enjoy it the same anymore. Nothing reads the same since.
Any help?
Update: I have just finished Brave New World, I’d heard of it but never read it and it was sub-par imo. Also we made it onto book circle jerk, not really sure what the point of that subreddit is tbh lol
I’m about to turn 25 in 2 weeks and over the past year I lost a lot of “forever friends”, had to move back home with my parents, got dumped, cried a lot, slept a lot, gained some weight, figured out I’m allergic to red wine, discovered white wine, got gum stuck in my hair, tore my pants at a job interview, learned to NEVER go longer than a week without showering, and MOST importantly.. I learned how to laugh at myself along the way. Growing pains y’all!
My mom says I came out of the womb a hot mess but LORD this past year was an ugly mess and I need a good laugh at someone else for a change.
Preferably fiction, memoirs are welcomed too!
Thank you in advance and always remember the hot mess express welcomes everyone and you’re never alone!
EDIT: hello best friends! this has been the best day I’ve had in a long time thanks to all of you! I am having an absolute blast with these book recs and all of your stories! I will make SURE to respond to each and every comment this evening. …
Hello! What are some books that are dark and reflective, making you see through an eerie or sinister, or even a depressed point of view. Something in the sort of “The death of Ivan Ilych”, “Lolita” or “Crime and punishment”.
I’m a mom who enjoys a certain genre of games (puzzle games) but I would like to keep up with my five kids and their gaming world. Can yall please briefly define some gaming terminology such as, what exactly is RPG? Open world? Any other gaming terminology yall can think of. Please, I want to learn.
I can only handle so many ARPG loot explosions. I enjoy games like Diablo and Borderlands, but I can’t keep up, nor do I care to, with the endless river of loot that flows at you in these games.
I like how loot in Souls games is rare and requires some effort to get, but when you do, it’s meaningful and not just a small stat upgrade you’ll wear until the next enemy explodes into a loot drop of 48 pieces.
What games can you all suggest that has meaningful loot that won’t overwhelm me?
Bonus points if they’re not the same suggestions we see all the time (Witcher, Elder Scrolls games, KENSHI!!!!, etc).
Hey guys. So I’m a student and I study for like 12 hours a day… I need something at the end of my day to look forward to, to stay sane. I want a game that is as engaging as possible. Now there are some things to consider:
I have a potato Laptop that only has integrated intel UHD graphics with 10th gen core i3 cpu
I want the game to put me in a good mood after a long day of studying.
A non toxic community if possible
Sorry if this is too much to ask especially since my laptop is not as good as it has to be but I’ll take any suggestions.
Thanks in advance!
I have been playing ark lately and have grown tired of having a fixed base. i just want to be able to explore the world without the building of a base, maybe with a spaceship serving as a base going around with you? Something like that. (PC)

Sorry if engrish not veri gud
Edit: Thank you all for your suggestions, I’ll definitely check out a couple of these
Edit 2: thank you all for the plentiful suggestions, thinking of checking out NMS, Outward or Project Zomboid
I’ve been playing alot of morrowind, and yesterday decided to try oblivion, but I just can’t, I get random framedrops and lagapikes everywhere, even after lowering intensive settings, and even after installing performance related mods
So now I’m looking for something else similar that’ll fill that space until I upgrade my PC and can play oblivion (and skyrim) properly and heavily modded without having to worry
So I’m looking for level up system, potion making and or the use of, and there’s loot you can use or sell
Different classes, and optionaly, a character creator
And like is said, it needs to be one that can run on a potato
