Spotify ads annoy me so much. I payed for premium to not have any ads ffs. Is there a podcast provider that has no ads once you pay for the service?
Edit: paid not payed
I’m somewhat new to podcasts, but I realize that I have some preferences, so I’m looking for some that fit certain criteria:
What I’ve listened to and liked:
American history tellers
Casefile (although I’d prefer to look into genres that aren’t necessarily true crime)
Can’t say right now what I didn’t like, because I’ve tried and abandoned lots of different podcasts.
Thanks in advance!
I adore how the Blindboy Podcast makes complex ideas accessible and entertaining, and I also love how obscure his topics tend to be
Basically looking to scratch the same itch further, but it doesn’t have to be funny or easy either!
High school student here. Every Wednesday morning and Friday afternoon, I have to go to a school where I don’t have many friends. I spend most of that time trying to distract myself from feeling lonely and anxious, and something that’s helped me is podcasts. Well, a specific podcast, Cartoons that Curse- highly recommend it if you’re into adult animation. I love it but every episode is based around a season/movie, and I can’t always watch it in time to listen to the pod on those days.
So, I’m looking to listen to some different podcasts, albeit with one requirement: nothing overly funny. Weird request, I know, but I don’t wanna look weird/borderline insane if I start randomly laughing; I wouldn’t want to alienate myself even more. Though, I obviously wouldn’t mind something that’s light in tone and humorous as long as I’d be able to keep a straight face.
Here are some of my interests, so you can send in recommendations accordingly (this is based on my taste in YouTube videos):

Hi All, I’m a Scottish woman living in the USA and I really miss the accent, so I’m hoping to find some podcasts featuring Scottish or British voices. Preferably spooky stories like Welcome To Nightvale, The Black Tapes, and The White Vault, but I’m open to pretty much any genre other than sports!
All suggestions and recommendations are appreciated!
Especially if there’s some great character work involved
please recommend me a book that is gonna have me thinking about it for months after i finish it. i want something that will have me crying. any genre is good. i just wanna feel sad.
Hi, first post here from a long time lurker.
I just out of a long argument with my wife about sexual objectification of women and how she clearly feels that my views/understanding is insufficient/lacklustre/privileged.
The argument specifically was about how and if women are able to themselves change the amount of sexualisation they are the victim of (regardless if that is right or wrong, should be necessary or expected). And I (being a man) don’t necessarily understand, or at least have a hard time putting myself in a woman’s shoes in that sense.
So I would like to read something that could enlighten me of the modern woman’s everyday life in regards to being viewed as an sexual object by men, and how that affects you.
Preferably something that doesn’t read like a textbook but rather explains through storytelling.
Edit: thank you all for all the suggestions and answers to this embarrassing (the fact that I have to do this at all) question! You people are great! :)
What was your favorite read this year? I need to a new book and my TBR list is uninspiring right now.
EDIT: oh wow this post blew up. Looks like I will have no problem finding new books for a long time!
a reddit friend actually recommended me a book i consider the best i’ve read this year: homegoing by yaa gyasi.
it’s one of those books that not only has a great story, but also one that you could feel deep inside of you long after you turn the last page. homegoing is also filled with great quotes and interesting symbolism (which i am not going to spoil). read it and fall in love if you haven’t 💛
edit: thanks so much for the recommendations! it warms my heart knowing the amount of good books out there and how they’ve impacted you. cheers to more books to read and stories to tell next year ✨✨✨
That’s not Stephen King
My younger cousin (14) told me she’s feeling deeply lonely and like she just doesn’t get on with people. If you felt similarly as a teenager, were there any books you read that really spoke to that feeling and/or helped you get through it?
EDIT: WOW I am absolutely blown away by how many thoughtful responses I have received to this. Thank you SO much
PC, console, any year, any genre
I’m looking for something I can play after work with other people. But I’m not the kind of person that wants to min/max their build, do a rotation, or compete with other players. I kind of just want to be a combat medic during a fight against a huge boss, a chef/farmer providing food for everyone, or anything of the sort.
I just don’t enjoy PvP or traditional MMO gameplay and would really like some social game outside those two types of games.
Edit: A game having a good community and a game having a good sense of community are different things.
I’m looking for a casual game where you can run a business or something.
I’m thinking like the things you can do in games like skyrim but more fleshed out and stuff.
Raising legions of the undead, becoming a powerful lich, summoning unholy abominations, general evilery.
What’s the nest game out there that can satisfy my need for undeath?
Hey everyone, I’ve been a fan of bingo games for a while now (mainly playing in-person), however lately I’ve been looking at playing from home. If anyone has any suggestions on ones they’ve played, let me know! Preferably if they’re on a CTV app (Roku, Amazon, AppleTV) so I can use my TV, thanks!
