I spent about 4 hours making this, but I’m really happy with it now.
It takes user inputs for the destination, time you need to arrive by, and mode of transport. Then it works out the travel time from your current location (updates once per minute) to the destination. When it detects that you’ll take too long to get there, it sends a notification (i added a 2 minute buffer so you have time to get ready/turn around). Sadly, it only works for travel times below an hour because of date formatting issues. The shortcut runs for up to 90 minutes.
here’s the link if anyone’s interested: https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/183acaad291147f2af1507bc4bd532ee
I’ve been reading r/shortcuts for a while now and found a lot of interesting Shortcuts along the way. I’m an avid Shortcuts user, but I always struggled to find an easy to use way to put some simple data on iOS widgets.
This is why I created SuperWidget, a little iOS app that allows to pass values from the Shortcuts app to iOS widgets. It even works with custom APIs having an integrated HTTP client.
Due to the really positive feedback I’m also building a way to design custom widgets with a WYSIWYG editor in the app.
Let me know your thoughts 🥰
Hello! I’m all true-crimed out and don’t want to hear another murder story but I love a multipart investigative podcast. I’m open to scams, cults, even gray areas like Dr. Death. I love podcasts like Swindled but want it to be multiple episodes about the same topic. I appreciate any recommendations!!!
Hey! Pretty much what the title says.
I listen to a few podcasts but I find that once they’re done I barely remember anything from the podcast.
Does anyone feel similar to this?
The conservative/right-wing discourse on social media is really starting to disturb me—the mob rule/pitchfork voices calling for civil war is distressing.
I try to stay off social media but it’s also how I keep a pulse on things.
I just want to know what are you guys listening to when you’re feeling your spidey sense go off?
I don’t if there are any podcasts out there that help provide a calming voice of reason to help navigate what’s happening.
S-town is my all time favourite. I love how Brian Reed managed to combine (sort of) investigative journalism with a deeply human approach to make for an amazing and heartbreaking story. For me, truly one of a kind.
I have also listened to (probably) most of the stuff released by reporters/producers affiliated with This American Life (Serial, Nice white parents, Trojan horse affair, We were three).
Any tips for other similar podcasts?
Thank you very much.
Btw. I love this community, many many useful tips.
Hello all. I would like some suggestions for new podcasts to listen to that will make me laugh very hard. Going through a rough patch.
So far I like:
The Dollop, Ari Shaffirs Skeptic Tank, Past Times Podcast, Bertcast (sometimes), Your Mom’s House, 2 Bears One Cave, Behind the Bastards, Jim Cornettes Drive Thru, The Jim Cornette experience , And CumTown(sometimes)
Any new recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
I’ve been looking for some new comedy podcasts to check out and it seems like every time I go down a rabbit hole of recommended comedy pods based off of other ones I like, it’s always an influencer, comedian or celebrity.
I’m not looking for anything in particular. Any genre, as long as it’s comedy. There’s got to be some good well known pods out there that gained a fan base solely on having a good podcast and not because they already had a crowd from something else, right?
Sorry if this post is a spam.
I’ve been a silent lurker here, hunting for books and found some really good recommendations here. From where I am, i don’t have much people who I can actually talk to and share opinions on books. And this sub feels like my cozy space where I share my love for books, without any negativity which is rare to find these days. Thanks a lot guys ❤️ Have a great day
EDIT: wow guys thank you very much for all your suggestions and your support. I am going to read all your comments and I feel a bit less alone already ♥️
Suggest me a book please! (Don’t suggest me therapy, I am already seing someone)
I’ll probably be putting myself in a psychiatric hospital soon because things have been going downhill and I feel like I’m going insane. I won’t be able to do much while I’m there, so I’ll buy a couple of books to pass the time.
I love Pynchon, Woolf, McCarthy, García Márquez, Ishiguro, so many others. Currently reading Tart’s The Goldfich and I’m enjoying most of it. I’m very young. Still in college. I know I have my whole life ahead of me, and yet I can’t help but feel like this will never end. I’m supposed to do great things. Everyone expects so much from me. I have all these ambitions, but I feel incapable of fulfilling any of them. And I feel so lonely.
This might not be the appropiate sub, and maybe I’m not giving you guys much to work with. I guess I’d like to hear of books that have helped you through those dark nights.
I’m 27. I’ve had a series of bad decisions and failures. I do realise that I’ve some mental health concerns I need to take care of but let’s delve into it some other day (I’ve had the worst last few years with lots of ups and downs but all I know at this moment is that I can’t go to therapy anytime soon). You can say I’m basically starting over and I want to read stories of successes at a later stage in life or how to get rid of this persistent thought that “am I ever going to be able to catch up or do I even need to?”. I find it hard to stick to any routine, I realise the importance of consistency but can’t seem to do anything about it. I cry and feel overwhelmed and lie in bed all night thinking about how I am going to fix my life at 3AM and the sun arises and it’s the same old shit.
I know I could write this more succinctly but I don’t want to read/ edit it again. If you get the idea of what I need, please give …
I can bring 5 books to my friend who is serving a long jail sentence in a foreign country (Thailand). Ideally, the books are long. I have one picked out already - 11/22/63
Any other ideas? He’s a bright, colorful character of high intelligence. Thanks.
This person is my husband.
I am currently in my “last shot” with him. I would like to gift him a book that will hopefully change something in him. Not for me, because I’m practically done… but for him.
He has a lot of insecurities. He gets angry very easily and without even trying to he is controlling and jealous.
We have the classic stages of abuse: he starts an argument, we sort it out, he apologizes and promises it’ll never happen again, we go through the honeymoon phase, and surely right around the corner there’s something else again.
I see very clearly through this so I am not putting up with it anymore but I’d still like for him to change as we have children together and he’s someone I’ll have to have in my life no matter what happens.
I’ve read ”Why does he do that” and have given him a couple other “self help” books about abusing a spouse but I don’t think that’s what I’m looking for. Maybe something from the person being abused POV? Or something raw and emotional? I don’t …
Starbound is my favorite game. I also like Factorio, No Man’s Sky and Terraria, although Terraria is almost too sandboxy for me. It doesn’t have a definite quest line or story. I already played Stardew Valley, Graveyard Keeper and My Time At Portia. I played Subnautica, and enjoyed it for about 30 hours, but it became too scary.
What I like:
* Open world exploration. Discovering new biomes, hidden places, new towns.
* Some sense of progression. Quests, storyline, or at least leveling up the character to be able to beat more difficult monsters and reach new places.
* I usually enjoy variety of activities like mining, crafting, fishing, farming, cooking. I enjoy some of the collectathons like “farm X types of foods to level up something”. But I don’t want it to be 100% grind.
* Combat, some puzzles, some survival elements. I enjoyed Starbound boss fights and how all the game progression with mining and crafting led to me being able to take on the boss. …
The Elder Scrolls Skyrim is my favourite game, and I’d like to buy something similar for my GeForce GTX 1650 Super, AMD Ryzen 7 2700X. Oh! And I play always on Linux & Proton via SteamPlay.
How about Morrowind or Oblivion? Too much old? I love The Witcher 3, too, but I like first-person over third-person. Walking simulators and open-world exploration is my main preference.
Any recommendations? Thanks!
We have played the hell out of Minecraft and today we tried playing the forest but it’s too scary for her. We want something that’s a bit more challenging then Minecraft but also something not scary. (Yes we have already played terraria too haha)
I am taking a break from competitive games, too much of a headache. Can someone recommend me a must play game. No matter the genre, console, or year, just want to play some amazing games.
