This is an update to this post, I figured enough has changed that it warrants a new post.

I have a shortcut that when Airplane mode is turned on, it turns it back off and sends a message to a trusted person that can disable my phone in the event my phone gets stolen. It also pings me on Discord using a webhook.

I’m wondering if anyone else is feeling this–to be honest, I feel weirdly guilty about not enjoying the pod as much as I once did. I really enjoy Michael and Aubrey and their chemistry. I’ve always liked the You’re Wrong About Extended Universe projects. And I like that Aubrey is so open to sharing experiences that must be harrowing and hard to talk about.
Conversely, I feel like the show’s bias has become a distraction for me. I do not believe it is my business to judge or concern-troll anybody’s body. As a lifelong anorexic, I know what it feels like to have people call you disgusting and publicly ridicule your body. However, Aubrey often points out that this kind of bullying is not particularly valid, as thin people enjoy so much privilege. Fair enough. But the pain of constantly obsessing over my size and the very real fear that people will harass me about it is real for me. I’ve been chased around and held down while people shove chips …
3 great podcasts! Want more like them!
Tired of murder! Want dry, dry, dry depth!
Miami Herald: Collapse: Disaster In Surfside - a deep dive into the Champlain Towers collapse and its investigation.
Stuff.co.nz: Collapse - a multi-episode series on a building that failed in an earthquake in Christchurch.
Stuff.co.nz: White Silence - another series on the Erebus air disaster of 1979. Great stuff.
What else you got? No, not Black Box Down, I want to go deep
I sometimes get anxious when I’m out and about in the city - waiting for the bus, in line at the post office, etc. - and I realized I’m often making that worse by listening to the news or true crime when I’m trying to pass the time! Those things are nice, but best left for when I’m home and cozy.
So - I’m looking for podcasts suggestions for when I’m in a busy, stressful, crowded situation, and I just want to put in my earbuds and escape to a calm, comfortable place.
What I’m trying to avoid:
What I’m looking for:
Please help me! I need new content. I am looking for really, really engaging non fiction podcasts that have great storytelling but also high information density. I love it, when they start with a story and then debunk it or take it apart. Or do a cool deep dive that is not just an article read. Problem: I think I know or have tried all the popular ones so please break out your absolute secret tips. I don’t care about the topic, strange, funny, wtf - anything goes, but there are deal breakers:
Please NO: True Crime, Terrorism, Spies, War, Military, Heists, Torture, Submarines, Tanks …
Podcasts I love:
And I probably know all the ones that you would think of first. (Like Underunderstood etc. And networks like Gimlet, NPR, Wondery) 😅 So this is kind of a challenge to find me podcasts that …
Aa the title says. I’m seriously considering trying to unionize my workplace and was hoping to start with some listening. Anything about organizing or even radicalizing your coworkers or how to approach a union to ask to join. Anything like that would be fantastic. Thank you in advance!
There’s an announcement ep available and it looks like they secured funding from the New Yorker. Very happy with that because a) for me they’re the undisputed king of investigative podcasts and b) they did not cross over to Spotify.
I’m kind of in uncharted waters here. I’m not religious but want to read the story of the bible. With all the fluff verse numbers etc not included and ideally with slightly more modern language?
I don’t even know if this is a thing. Any ideas?
I’ve read both of these over and over please suggest something as good that includes the following characteristics - sci fi - big adventure - awesome science at least half explained - funny protagonist - the feels
Based on many reviews I don’t think I’ll read Artemis.
Thank you!
Hi everyone ☺️, I’m looking for something like the above. I’d like to clarify that whilst I’m not not Christian, I still do believe in God, I would just like books without any heavy religious attachments that are centered around the below:
Premarital Preparation, Books around the psychology of relationships, Communication between partners, How not to let Anger ruin a relationship, Navigating relationships and marriage, Anything about the love languages
Etc…
I’m open to all suggestions around these kind of topics and any I may have missed
Thank you all so much in advance! 🌻☺️
Darker themes, more violent, but not cringe?
I’m sorry if this sounds ignorant, but I realize that I don’t know much about Africa as a continent.
I’m interested in learning more about its diverse cultures, history, philosophy, personalities and stuff. While I understand that the topic is vast since Africa has 54 countries , but i would love a glimpse of that place.
could you recommend any introductory books or light reading that can help me start my learning journey?
Preferably something not too academic please.
Thank you all
edit; you guys are the best, thanks
Any subject area is all good 😊
Edit: thank you for all the responses, gonna take me months choosing between these on goodreads!
Like if you helped an old lady get a chair from a fetch quest, the chair is there after.
I’ve seen it happen a bit in games here and there. I’m not talking big changes for plot reason, but being able to walk through an area with visual reminders of the side quests and such.
Looking for a game where violence is depicted as brutal, dirty and gruesome as it truly is, instead of an over the top depiction.
For framing, I’m looking for games where violence is depicted like in Manhunt or Spec Ops: The Line, instead of Doom or Borderlands, for example.
I replayed Skyrim after ~10years, previously played it on Xbox, so no mods. Now I have played with a modpack with 800 mods and oh boy, it has been a BLAST! I have almost got all achievements and did everything I want, so I’m looking for games to play next, that are similar to Skyrim in some way.
Things I like in Skyrim:
-Flashy combat and executes with mods
-Tons of items and spells to use
-Skill leveling system
-TONS OF QUESTS!

And yes, I tried to play FO3 + NV and FO4, but FO3 + NV feel a tad too aged for my taste, even with mods. FO4 could be nice, but the performance is horrible even with a good rig and mods.
All the games I have played have you being the hero but I wish there was a game where you can be the villian. I don’t mean slightly malicious or mean jokester, just pure evil. Has to be available on mobile/laptop. Not necessary but I would prefer if its story driven.
Kinda like Stardew Valley, where they aren’t the main focus. Is there anything else similar?
I am looking for some PC games where you start humbly and with time get more powerful and rich. However, I don’t want to just see the numbers going up and up, I want to be able to spend it on some “luxuries” - nothing gameplay related, just visual. Let’s say a management game about running restaurant but between shifts you go to your home which you could expand, decorate etc. just for pure satisfaction. There is a lot of management games/tycoons but majority of them don’t allow you to do much with money except reinvesting in the business.
Any suggestions? I don’t care when a game has been released, as long it’s good.
