In this day and age where a simple broken tail light or an improper lane change can lead to one getting pulled over and potentially shot, this shortcut is for YOUR safety. The cops have the body cameras that they can redact, alter, or refuse to release, and we as citizens should have records of these stops too.
This shortcut while simple, is a powerful tool to protect your rights, and make sure that an unbiased version of events is recorded and stays in your possession.
This shortcut will do the following:
Record your gps location and automatically text it to whoever you set to receive it.
Audio record the interaction for up to 1 hour and will both text the recording to the same person as before, and save the video directly to drop box.
As an additional safety bonus, any manipulation of the screen will automatically send/save the recording to prevent the cops from deleting the recording.
To use, simply say “hey Siri, I’m getting pulled over” and make sure your phone is either on …
Some years ago (when it was still Workflow and then for the first year or two of it being part of Apple) I created a bunch to reboot machines on my network, toggle PiHole, hit various public APIs. But I haven’t done much with Shortcuts in the last 3 years or so, I want to get back into it.
What’s a Shortcut you’ve created or discovered in the last ~1 year that you’ve found super helpful or has made your life much easier? I’d love to try some of the best people are using.
Thanks very much in advance!

Here’s a guide I made to automatically activate “Hey Siri” ONLY when you connect to CarPlay or a specific Bluetooth source (Car, AirPods, etc), then automatically disconnect when you disconnect from that source.
I don’t like to have Hey Siri enabled unless I’m in the car. I couldn’t find an easy automated way to do this online, so here’s what I figured out. Perplexity used for more clear organizational steps in these instructions.
Follow these steps to create a system where “Hey Siri” (via a custom Voice Control command) is only active when you’re connected to your car, CarPlay, Bluetooth, or AirPods.
Just made this one - it takes a PDF from Files and saves it to your camera roll (most recent photos) as high-quality png(s). Yes, it works for multi-page PDFs - it saves each page as a separate image.
Made & tested with iPhone 13 Pro and current iOS. Hope it’s useful!

(It may work for non-pdf images/files as well)
I get pretty tired of seeing the same shows recommended over and over on here. I’d love to see some of the more obscure shows people enjoy. Currently active or complete, doesn’t matter!
edit: These suggestions are all great so far. Thanks! Upvotes for everyone who mentions a show I’ve never heard of before, which is almost all of you!
I’m looking for a new podcast series to listen to. Ideally, I would like a continuous nonfiction narrative with a thoughtful host. No morbid true crime :-( any other nonfiction genre (or non-violent true crime) would be good. Desperately in need of a human voice just sincerely telling a story. Some podcasts I’ve liked in the past are Snap Judgement, Ear Hustle, Wind of Change.
Looking for longform podcasts with historical and cultural topics similar to Behind the Bastards but with LESS banter. Not interested in Dan Carlin or Fall of Civilizations. Thank you!
EDIT: For clarification, I like the format of Fall of Civilizations, but I’m more interested in post Early Modern Era (after 1500AD). I don’t mind some banter, it’s just too much on Bastards.
I exercise at home very early every morning and I’m looking for a podcast that condenses what’s happening around the world on a daily basis. Preferably bite-sized, definitely as impartial as possible. Thanks.
It could be about anything, but what’s a podcast that reminds you how weird and wonderful the world is/can be? I’ve been in a dark place, so I turned to a podcast about space (Pale Blue Pod) and it just makes me go whoa. It’s so amazing to learn about the universe, but also just our own planet and sometimes it’s nice to be reminded that there’s still a lot of good and incredible things that exist when things feel like shit or just dark.
Just curious what y’all listen to and also looking for some pod recs. Like I said, just a pod that makes you feel excited about the world or universe (space podcasts are welcome, they calm me down for some reason lol)
We recently read Anne frank together and now it is my daughter’s favorite book. She especially loved that Anne mentioned in her diary something along the lines of “I don’t know why I’m writing this, it’s not like anyone is going to read it” so writing it for no audience So she’s interested in reading similar books. Wachu got?
I’m looking for a book that has beautiful prose and is more stylistic (uses literary devices beautifully).
I’m not really into fantasy so any beginner-fantasy-friendly books would be great. I’ve only read ACOTAR so far, but I guess fantasy fits what I’m looking for? Literary/contemporary fiction as well!
Any genre is fine by me…Even nonfiction! The kind of book where, once you’re done, you feel a little sharper, a little more alive, and maybe a bit funnier at parties (or at least in your own head).
Possible examples…Maybe something that feels like Oscar Wilde and Tina Fey got locked in a library and were forced to co-write a novel using only sarcasm, metaphors, and caffeine. Snark, cynicism are always great as well. Thanks!
Hello,
Some time ago, I have been recommended Bunny, by Mona Awad, as many people said it was the weirdest book they had ever read. I just finished it and, even though it actually is weird…that’s not really the weirdest book that fell into my hands (I think about Jeff Vandermeer, for example, among others, who made me feel more disturbed than Bunny).
What is the weirdest book you ever read ? Even books you usually would not really recommend to people you know, so you don’t feel like you are the weirdo of the town :) I am in search for my next “wtf did I just read ?” one.
Edit : I am not searching for “disturbing” things like mafia guys kidnapping girlies to make them fall in love with them, or the new wave of r*pe trend, that’s not my definition of disturbing or weird (more stupid and disgusting, and that’s not at all what I am searching for).
Thank you !
Something that you almost had to put down because it was actually giving you anxiety
No murder, no apocalypse, no emotionally devastating twists; just soft, quiet stories with a little magic or wonder. I loved The House in the Cerulean Sea and Anne of Green Gables. Bonus points if nature is involved. What are your “warm blanket” reads?
I’m talking sleepless nights, forgetting to eat, constantly thinking about it even in your sleep, 100 game wiki tabs simultaneously open, family gets worried kind of obsession
Preferably on PC
I want games that you can only truly enjoy once. The type you get an overwhelming feeling the first time through, but once you’ve played, the magic is gone.
I’m looking for a sexy game with a great gameplay. I don’t care if it just has sexualized characters or has sexual content. I don’t care if it sexualizes men, women, trans, furries (no underage!). I don’t care if it’s geared towards heterosexuality or homosexuality or in between. What I DEFINITELY NEED are:
Sexualized, eye-candy characters. This can be mod compatibility, but it shouldn’t be low quality. Great gameplay. This is non-negotiable. It should be a fun game in its own right.
Games in this basket that I’ve enjoyed: * Bethesda games * Bastard Bonds * Atlyss * H-Doom * Karryn’s Prison * Conan Exiles * Haydee * She Will Punish Them
Hi guys!!
Lately I’ve been into games in which the majority of time is spent in a vehicle, upgrading it and going around in it.. So, for example I’ve already played:
Do you guys know any similar games?
Bonus points if - has cartoony graphics - is not in space
Thank you very much guys!!
Alright, so we all know the general RPG progression where you start fighting goblins and end up oneshotting literal gods when you finished grinding and tinkering for the best gear and skills. That is NOT quite what I want.
I want something with that kind of silly power curve, but where you can apply that ridiculous OP-ness to noncombat skills. Like, I want a game where I can take every level in Loremaster or Artisan or whatever and get a 800 Lore or Crafting skill when the requirement for knowing or making anything is like 50.
I don’t even need the noncombat skills to feed back into combat or even be very useful, I just wanna make a super duper specialist in something besides fighting for once. The Owlcat Pathfinder games have some options that meet my requirements, but the game design is so dickishly anti-player and that I couldn’t bear to play more than a couple hours. Solasta has been a good fit so far and I have played a lot of that.
Anything fit these criteria?
Looking for something different but I am not sure what I am looking for. So what games have you played that you feel deserve more attention? What games have fallen underneath the radar that you feel should have more eyes on it?
