Finally finished up my Spotify Wrapped shortcut https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/6be40f35446a45ebaf947d06f3fce83c
It makes 4 playlists with your top tracks of the last few weeks, 6 months, year or longer, and all of the above. Create an automation where it runs everyday and it will stay updated with your current listening history.
Hi guys.
I have become a bit of a workaholic lately to distract myself from personal struggles. My problem: I work on a performance basis and not by the hour, and I have already done the work for the next two weeks.
Be so good and keep me busy with your ideas, maybe you will get some good shortcuts as compensation.
EDIT: Ladies and Gentlemen, what a day … unfortunately I have to go to sleep now, but you can still comment your ideas. I suppose that tomorrow I will probably get less suggestions, since the post will disappear from “Hot” at some point, so I will have some time to work through the backlog. Don’t worry, I’ll look at every request.
I just announced iFrames 2.0! 🎉
What is iFrames?I initially used shortcuts such as Apple Frames, MediaKit Screenshot Generator and more, but there have always been some compromises with these shortcuts, such as:
iFrames aims at remedying these issues, and providing even more amazing features. Here are the key advantages of using iFrames:

iFrames has been the fastest and best framed-screenshots generator out …
(Boring but useful. Alternatives may exist) I have like 40 identical euro-boxes of knick-knack in my basement, finicky outdoor gear, tools, books and stuff, that I need to keep track of with an inventory database and QR codes.
I needed labels, so here is a quick shortcut for that: boxoholic® produces stylish labels with a QR code and a big fat index number next to it, then arranges them to sheets of 25 for swift print-out from Pages or similar. The code content is a standard text that includes (or not) the index number. boxoholic® also takes care of text sizes.
I use Chrome as my default browser, but sometimes I want to open a page in Safari for work.
I tried a few things including using the apple-mobilesafari-tab: url scheme. Nothing really worked.
But then I noticed that if I opened more than 1 url Safari would open them (not Chrome!)
This shortcut artificially adds a second url to the open url action. But I set its url to javascript:window.close()
so the tab closes before even opening, leaving me with just the tab for the url I wanted. In Safari!

My personal favorite is Obscura True Crime Podcast. Justin manages to cover extremely graphic stuff while remaining respectful. The Black Label episodes are something I look forward to each month and each one feels like something special.
Here’s the thing:
This is surprisingly hard to find in the true crime genre. MOST of the hosts turn out to be garbage. Any suggestions are mighty welcome. And I mean that. I could use any that are well produced, graphic, and respectful.
any good options? need something captivating but can’t handle death rn.
too many podcasts have people joking and interrupting the story/event with their commentary and jokes. are they’re any that’s serious horror podcasts based on actual stuff?
Just gotta say how jazzed I am on this show. After listening to mostly true crime for hours a day at work, this is a welcomed break. Still fits my need for captivating stories but without the low mood that hours of true crime can bring. Any suggestions for similar shows? Went through mystery show in a day, would love more like these two.
I’ve loved this podcast for a bit over a year now but lately they’ve been leaning into bits, being more informal, and cracking more jokes. Plus the topics are really interesting. If you haven’t heard it yet, I can’t recommend enough.
I’m not making fun, I’m just genuinely looking for Answers. My commute isn’t that long, just considerably hectic because too many people and also because I’ve to interchange trains. So, I cannot listen to podcast in peace. Other than that, my brain cannot focus on two things at one time. Suppose, I’m folding clothes or cleaning etc and I put on a podcast then my brain is likely to wander off to some other thing and before I know it, I’ve skipped some 15 mins of whatever they were saying. I’ve tried so many time to just focus on podcasts but nothing helps. Even with audiobooks, I can only manage to listen with attention if I’m simultaneously reading the copy of that same book. Even though video podcasts, that I like are few, I just put on the subtitle and I’m able to focus on it a bit. But pls help me what I can do about this situation. There are so many podcasts I want to listen to. Thanks.
One of those with equal talent who’ve lived and died in cotton fields, unbeknown to most people.
edit: after reading some recommendations, i feel a need to make this edit. maybe what I’m looking for is a book about someone, fiction or nonfiction, who has great talent, great intellect, but their circumstances don’t align in their favor. maybe they’re born in the wrong country, or too poor to be able to give thought to anything other than putting food on the table and making it through every day. maybe something that shows how luck might as well be real. so these people, despite having that innate talent, live and die in cotton fields and sweatshops, unbeknown to most people.
Basically I’ve wanted to read Lolita for a while because the point of view intrigues me, looking from the perspecive of someone who doesn’t understand what he’s doing is wrong when it very clearly objectively is.
Problem is, I work with kids and don’t think I could stomach the paedophilia… So does anyone have recommendations of books with a similar concept, without the paedophilia, at least not as a main plot? It’s not a trigger or anything that I can’t see at all anywhere, I just don’t think I’d make it through a main plot like that
I’m a straight male in my 30s. I’ve read all the Hemingways and Hawthornes, Tolkiens and Tolstoys, and I’ll read many more. But I just realized that of the 17 books I’ve read this year, I accidentally read 12 written by women. Ursula K Le Guin, Emily St John Mandel, Flannery O’Connor, to name a few. I say “accidentally” meaning not that I didn’t know what I was reading, just that my ratio is typically not so female, and it wasn’t planned.
Now that I’ve accidentally stumbled across so many wonderful stories by powerful female voices, I’d like to keep it up.
So give me your favorite books by women. My only other requirements are that they are stories with depth and with beautiful, creative prose.
books that made you think, “What possessed someone to write this book?”
I am looking for weird and unique books, where the narrator talks to the reader directly. Or any other weird and unique books that come to mind. We‘re doing an event where we show our local libraries book suggestions so I want to try and show them things that are special. Suggestions in english and german would be great
Are there any books suggestion that touched you deep, on things like meaning of existence, deep philosophical questions, nature of life and death, the question of god, I have loved zen and buddist authors, and people like Ram Dass, Alan Watts, do you have any personal recommendations?
For me, this certainly is Hearts of Iron IV (and all the mods available). I’m very passionate about the modern day scenarios and playing semi-historical. So when my computer wasn’t available due to repair, I set up a note where I wrote down a whole Order of Battle that is almost 100% accurate to the actual structure of the US Military (including matching batallion compositions, unit names, home bases). Same for the Navy and the Air Force. Additionally, I planned upcoming real wars and which units were in the actual 0OB. Which game did the same to you? I’m asking because I’m looking for other games that can give me this feeling of not wanting to wait to come home to finally play.
As I’ve gotten older I find that I have less appetite for big open world games.
Some of the best gaming experiences I’ve had are games I sat down and beat within a day. Games that had good vibes and were interactive, but not ridiculously challenging.
I often play this type of game on a sick day, when I can dedicate a bunch of time in one go.
Games like Oxenfree, Stray, Superhot and The Wolf Among Us.
Preference would be console or switch as I’d ideally play in bed (have all modern gen).
A few months ago, Steam showed me that I played 70 games in 2022. It sounds overwhelming, but most of them were short games with neat ideas, and I wanted to share some of my findings with anyone who enjoys this kind of titles.
I love looking at games on Steam and seeing from the reviews if people have played 1000 hours or more. For some weird reason it convinces me to purchase the game. So with this in mind, what are your 1000+ hour games?
Looking for RPG-type games where there’s a good crafting system that is intrinsic to building and upgrading your gear and isn’t overshadowed by items you get through looting. Many games have crafting which quickly becomes obsolete because you can just run a dungeon and get better stuff. I want to have to make and care for my equipment and build the skills to make better stuff. It appears WarTales is along those lines. Perhaps something similar.
I’m searching for a game where I send my troops/Chars into battle and watch them fight. Between the fights should be a management part, where I train, equip and skill my people.
Should be singleplayer.
My platforms: PC, Switch, PS5
